I've been working on and off on a basic blouse pattern I can cut on the Cricut (because I hate the drafting, marking and cutting part of sewing). I used a pattern maker software to draft the human pattern and then resized it to my doll's measurements on Cricut Design Space. I also managed a little bit of dart manipulation in design space but boy it wasn't pleasant hahaha I didn't use my nicer prints because the pattern seemed like a BIG "trust the process" piece (the armcye area looked skewed) but I was pleasantly surprised by the fit! Since this was supposed to be a prototype, I didn't plan for embellishments. It seemed boring so I thought to add an apron and a milk maid bandana. My lovely model is a Supia Doll Juah in the 60cm double jointed body with small bust. I adjusted the measurements a bit so that my other SD (AoD Qian) will also fit (she has a slightly larger bust). View from the back: I think it took me 5-6 hours from start to finish? I used 1 fat quarter of the printed cotton, a few meters of cotton lace, a few inches of white cotton for the apron and an iron on hemming tape for the green trim. All from my mother-in-law's untouched hoard of sewing supplies so yay for destashing but I do need to get some nicer lace to use as trims for my future projects!
That's such an interesting project! I didn't know you could cut fabric with it, I only ever saw it being used for stuff like stickers. The dress and apron look great
Very fun! That turned out lovely! (and as reassurance from someone who loves drafting: doll armcyes are always kinda wonky looking, the exaggerated proportions combined with the smaller size just gives you less room to work with lol)
Wow this turned out lovely! I have a Cricut two but I never managed to make it cut fabric. Have you followed any tutorials or it was a total experiment?
@Samsally I definitely need to tweak the armscye more but laziness got the better of me, it's gonna be a task for another day! @Thanato-Cat I'm using the Maker 3 with the rotary blade & fabric mat (pink). I watched design space basics on YouTube so I knew how to manipulate the shapes but I did pattern resizing and alteration by myself. Just figured things out as I went.

This is so cool! My library has a cricut machine that people can use -- I will have to see if it is one that I could try and do this on!
Oh this is not good for my crafting budget... two of my aunts and one of my cousins all have Cricuts they use for papercrafting, and I too hate the drafting process of sewing. Weirdly I don't mind the actual sewing part, it's the drafting and repeated fittings part that I find tedious... but now that I know there's a Cricut that can cut fabric, I may have to invest in one just to streamline the process. The dress turned out beautiful! Your seams are very neat and the darts turned out flawless, and the little extra trim really helps make it look finished. And her little apron is just sending me - between that and the headpiece's little scallops I'm just shaking in my chair at how cute the complete outfit looks. Fantastic job!
@Cubism I originally bought this for making cosplay costumes but I ended up going on hiatus so it sat unused for a year. Now I can finally justify the purchase hahaha Cricut & some authorized retailers offer bundles and refurbished machines that should help a bit with the budget. If you're buying 2nd hand make sure you get the serial number and check with Cricut that it's not a decommissioned machine before purchasing! And thank you for appreciating the small details The scallop stitch made by the Classic Singer leaves a lot to be desired that it's making me itch to buy an embroidery machine haha
I uploaded a quick video discussing how I generate the patterns and cut them on Cricut: /threads/pattern-maker-cricut-design-space.890197/
Oh, I so wish I could do that! and I have a circuit 3. But, I am bad at doing this kind of stuff on my own.
