Some really nice garments coming along this month! I took great care to sew this dress but things still turned out... not as neat as I expected, so I took the route of "slap a bow on it and it's ok". The lower hemline refused to cooperate so I also took the very grown up decision of wiring the hem Nobody will have to know
I know I'm late, but I'd like to join this round! I'm sewing for Deimos, my Dream Valley Howard II on the 3-arm body. I'm planning on using dark blue and the Gracefairie Dim Sum pattern. Dream Valley Howard II and Rubin Fabric and pattern
I can work with top patterns all day. Throw me on any sort of bottoms and I have no idea what I'm looking at, which is why I didn't realize just how not what I want these shorts would be until they were done. I want a short inseam and mid-to-high rise waist, not...whatever this is. So I've reworked the pattern to hopefully give me what I want and will try again this weekend after I've met my writing deadline...or before, if the ADHD requires a procrastination hyperfocus.
I’ve completed my girl’s culotte/skirt in purple. Hooray! Now that it’s finished, I’ll use the remaining week of this month to press hard on completing a final one in greens…fingers crossed! If I can pull it off, it will finally complete the mix-and-match wardrobe for this doll once and for all.
I didn’t start yet sadly, It should be possible to complete the outfit in a day so hopefully today or tomorrow!
@PoeticSoul Gorgeous! I have... well... I did cut out the pieces for a blouse and a pair of bloomers in the polka dot fabric. But nothing sewn, yet. I think I failed pretty bad this month. A lot of IRL stuff got in the way, as usual.
…And I’m finally done for the month! Tatter’s mix-and-match wardrobe is finally complete. Here’s what I made for this month: And here she is wearing her green culotte/skirt with a blouse I made her last month.
My project got a bit derailed this month as I seen to have caught pyjama fever... I've stuck to the monochrome theme with 4 different pyjama tops for my 1/3 and 1/4 girls, which has given me a lot of practice sewing partial plackets! All of the pyjamas are made from old pyjamas of mine that have worn out in one place or another, and all the light blue tops are made from the same old pyjama shirt. The 1/3 girls' tops are made from Missy's Imaginings' Rainbow Candy top pattern, and the 1/4 girls' tops are made from a turtleneck pattern in Volks's Dressmaking for Super Dollfie Volume 1. Both patterns were heavily altered through drafting and trial and error! My goal was to make tops that could fit over my Volks girls' big heads, because I find removing dolls' heads to dress them a pain, especially for my older no-magnet headcap dolls (Sata on the right is one of them) From left to right: Yuuka, top with front pocket and top bias strip (I think that's the term for it) Mako, oversized top with collar and extra wide arms Suzuran, the first top, with hood Sata, top with no collar, hemmed at neck edges
Thank you! And I love that hat too. It’s by a very talented artisan on Etsy, and I have an entire collection of her hats for my SD girls. It’s my collection within a collection! This is wonderful! Who doesn’t love a great set of pjs? I have a display of msd Volks girls who are perpetually having a slumber party myself. Sleepwear for the win!
Very productive - well done, both of you! I had a mad plan to rush through a project this weekend with a bustle dress from some lovey striped orange fabric that fell into my stash.. but didn't even get as far as looking out the patterns, let alone cutting and sewing... Ah well, I know what I want to do with it so it will have ot wait for some other time. Teddy
@PoeticSoul Thank you, and I love the assymetric look of your pieces to fit with Tatter's lovely sculpting @mydaffer and @Teddy Thank you!
I got distracted in the middle of the month, had to rush some pieces for a photoshoot, but the top for Amadis' purple trousers was half sewn and I finished it over the last couple of days. The silk is really soft and nice to the touch, though it frays a lot. I wasn't sure how the design would turn out - it isn't drapey enough for an oversize look, and otherwise looks like its making some kind of statement, but what that may be, I'm not sure. But when I actually put the shirt and trousers on Amadis and added the bead necklace, it all came together : Purple outfit finished by helgie, on Flickr Amadis also got the purple wig. And great job everyone! This thread is a rainbow of bjd fashion
Trust the process…. lol ok I have till midnight, I guess I do better under pressure. I cut from scratch, hope it works out It’s for fun, right.
I was able to complete the outfit for my doll, I even made the under top but it’s hard to see in the photos. That was fun, love these sewing threads!
Hooray for everyone who managed to finish!! I always love seeing the completed projects at the end even when I don't participate. As for mine, I actually did finish the blouse, but I didn't start the JSK at all I'm considering it a win still though, since the blouse is all one colour it still fits the theme. I'll take a pic of it on my doll when I have some free time in the coming days!
Thank you, I’m so happy you like it! Sewing from scratch comes with its challenges but thankfully it fit and I’m happy about that too, it doesn’t always come out in my favor.
@helgie This is such a stylish look! Your dear Amadis looks absolutely wonderful in it too. @mydaffer Oh how cute! I love it! It’s such a sweet look on your girl. Well done! And the latest project thread is now up: /threads/sewing-project-theater-masquerade-round-139.883206/
@PoeticSoul Thank you, I’m happy with the outcome and motivation this group brings! Thank you for hosting it, you’re very much appreciated!
Well done, all of you! So many pretty things this month. I'm coming in late to show off what I managed to get done. I did finish the blouse and the bloomers, sort of. They are functional garments, but I would like to add more decorations, especially to the bloomers. So, theme? Yes. Fun? Kind of. Full outfit? Not even close. See you in the next round!
Well, I didn't get my full set of mix-and-match pieces made, but I did get one full wearable for the first time! And I have the material cut out for the next attempt at the shorts; I just haven't had time to stitch it together yet because of non-doll time-crunch sewing (aka I just realized a couple days ago I only have a few days left to make the baby stuff I wanted to for my niece if my parents are leaving if I want them to take the stuff to save me postage).
@mydaffer and @Lillith such cute outfits! All I accomplished this month was deciding on something and cutting out part of it. Well, now I know what I'm doing for Unfinished Business!
I'm a bit late, but here's the shirt I made! The sleeves ended up being too short, which is honestly funny because this whole time I was worried they'd be too long. I'll probably remove them and replace with a much simpler sleeve, or maybe just puff sleeves. This project will probably pop up again in the next unfinished business round-
The sleeves are so cute though! Maybe you could add a puff below the ruffles? I feel the pain of worry about measurements It looks really great overall!
Actually, I like the sleeves just as they are too. 3/4 length sleeves are definitely a style, and these work so well with those double ruffles. I think this blouse is wonderful.
Honestly I really do love the ruffles. I might try detaching the sleeves and adding a puff at the top, since that's a style I've seen before (kind of similar to this), but I don't know if it would add enough length. Otherwise, I honestly might keep it as is, the 3/4 length is not that bad now that I look at it!
Here are the two little dresses I made for my girls. =) (excuse the flash, it's midnight here in France ^^')
Cute, cute! Such sweet little basics. And I agree with Teddy, the ribbon trim really adds some pizazz.
