Finished Morrigan's outfit a few days ago. The cropped pants ended up being capris. Not sure if the top needs a matching ribbon flower on her right shoulder or if I should leave it as is. Morrigan in Teal
Looks good as is, to me Perhaps you could pin the ribbon flower in plac first to see whether you prefer it with our without...? Teddy
@Leo Pheonix well I think the length of the capris looks very nice on your doll at least! Still love that beautiful turquoise. If it were me I might add the embellishment because I like extra things you could do it as a brooch and then it's removable for both a plain or dressy look.
@Teddy and @JennyM Thank you! Thank you! It does, doesn't it? In a perfect world I would have used more layers of the tulle overlay to get an even ligher and more translucent look, but I didn't have neough of the fabric for that. As it is I use up every last little scrap of it. I love how the tulle blends together with the foundation fabric. Thanks, PoeticSoul! I am happily surprised with how closely I got the overall shape to match the original sketch. I think it's probaly the part of this project I am the most happy with, especcially considering my mistakes with the petticoat in the beginning. Nice! I agree with AlisonVonderland, the pant length works very well on her. A flower would loke nice. A bit of embellishments never hurts. But then again, if you intend to layer the garment with a cardigan or jacket later it may be too bulky. You could just tack it on with a few stitches to see if you like it, it's easy enough to remove later if you decide it gets in the way.
@Leo Pheonix Gorgeous color! I really like the capri length on your girl because it really suits her rather unusual body, and gives the outfit an overall magical edge. I’m with the rest of the folk here…I think it would look lovely either with or without the flower detail.
I am done! It was a fair bit of work, but I am very happy with how it turned out in the end. I will post a few more pictures in the gallery. Thanks for cheering me on, everybody!
Oh my, how beautiful! This is so perfect on your girl. The color is wonderful and that style and form is divine! It’s easy to see how much thought and effort went into this. A truly stellar creation!
@PoeticSoul @Leo Pheonix @Lillith wonderful work!!! I always love seeing what everybody ends up working on, so inspiring I've accomplished my move, safe and sound! Now to figure out unpacking... wish me luck, maybe I'll be able to come back next round for some sewing fun!
I finished the waistcoat! I actually got it done yesterday, just forgot to post. I tried to do a facing for the armholes using my practice version but it ended up being too visible once I had everything sewn together, so I ended up ripping them out. Then after I had those done, on April 30th, I went to try it on so I could do the snaps, and I realized I had somehow sewn a pin inside the vest. I really didn't feel up for taking out any of my stitches that night, after all the fuss I spent on it earlier, so it got finished a day late. It came out looking really nice, though. Ok now the contest is over so I can post pictures of what I done ! Here is Chinatsu, my kitsune (theme was Yokai). I had in mind a summer festival with lot of colors. But, the global color, as you can see, is orange. ^^ And the result is : I won the first place ! I made all accessories myself. First time I crafted an umbrella and a Den-den daiko. ^^' Made ears and tails froms lovely fur I had since so many times lol. Sewed the yukata top, the skirt (with transparent fabric on an another orange fabric), boots (with a pattern from lomilmalinde), pants, socks (with lacework), made the obi with some braid (I put some shine on a white button), embroidered some pearls on sleeves. And of course, made the make-up. The only things I didn't do are the doll itself (DZ Megi on a Raspberry Nobledoll body), the wig and eyes. Here are some details in spoilers Spoiler
Congratulations! Orange is a great choice - a neutral colour that goes with anything (even with more orange) Teddy
@Moonycat31 Congrats on the first place win! That is such an adorable outfit, I admire how all the colors go together without clashing.
@Moonycat31 Heartfelt congratulations on your win. What a delightful set this is! It’s been awhile since I’ve seen an example of this particular sculpt, and you did her up so fabulously! What a great take on the yokai theme! I love all the various elements and accessories here. You’ve clearly thought through every detail with wonderful style and created a fun and fascinating overall look. Hooray for you!
