    1. Adorable! :chibi

    2. Realmling - I LOVE that little skirt so far!!!!

I finished the Hanbok jacket (저고리) despite some idiocies from my sewing machine LOL - here's a pic of Ban Mi Sun wearing it w/the underskirt :

    3. Needed a break from beading so I worked on Dharma's dupatta/scarf. [IMG]

      And now, back to beading...

    4. Thank you all for your encouragement and praise! :kitty2

I think I know what you're talking about! I have some fall leaves too that are tiny but I don't know where they're from as I got them from a donation place. I went ahead with what I had but I'll keep it in mind! Thank you!

@Realmling oh my gosh I love it so much!!!! She looks very happy to be getting such a fantastic dress!! This is literally the first bubble skirt I've liked.

@PoeticSoul That is stunning! I am going to show my friends so they can adore it as well. :3nodding:

@SteamWitch Fire wizards don't need anything to keep warm, but for some reason whenever they go anywhere people start shouting "health and safety" and "cover up!" And might I add, you have made him quite a delightful cover up!

So I am finished with Moya's ball gown.

First thing first, here's the jewelry I made her. I used the eye putty (?) to hold the beads to her ears since she's not pierced.

Here's the skirt with the leaves I made. I was rather scared by how large they ended up being but they've grown on me.

Especially after I added flowers and a butterfly.

I had a friend over today and she suggested making a shawl and putting a flower in the middle so I did! She made the flower crown too. Moya's wearing purple hair because her other wig wouldn't get on as its bit too small :pout: My friend also helped with the placements of everything else on the dress and I sewed them on. And I finished decorating the shoes! So later I'll try to get a nice photo shoot with her.

I have a few ideas for the next dress I'll make but I need to see what materials I have.

      The options are
      Peacock Ballgown
African themed ball gown (I got a small fabric piece someone embroidered a bunch of animals)
      Fall themed ball gown
Royal Senate Star Wars styled court apparel
      Winter themed ball gown.

Can you guys who likes twily skirts? :celebrate

    5. Realmling that is so cute and creative!
Teleri that looks beautiful - well done!
MoomaBJD that's gorgeous - you have way more patience than me!
MayBee25 stunning work! And you solved my problem over how to fix earrings onto Danielle's ears without piercing them ^_^

      • x 1
    6. Thanks everyone. :)

@MayBee25 that turned out so neat! I love all the little extras.

@MoomaBJD can't wait to see it all put together.

      @Teleri yay for pretty hanbok!

    7. Wow these are stunning. I'm starting to feel like I should just skip the end of this round (My sewing machine was out of commission for sometime but now it's finally back I though I might get something done) because nothing I can come up with compare...

    8. I felt the same way about my dress Wynn - it's really a very plain and simple dress compared to the others, and sewn by hand so the stitching isn't perfect either - and it's open at the bum as I couldn't be bothered with a zip fastener! But I enjoyed making it - I think that's the most important thing with this project thread - it motivates me to sew something, whereas normally I don't bother ^_^

    9. @SteamWitch versitile clothes for the win!

I'm on my third muslin tester for the stupid bodice... decidedly less fun than the skirt. Break time before I go nuts. And it had to go and start snowing today so I can't even distract myself with Tilly's face up.

    10. Ok. Its not completely done, but the remaining beading is on the back of the skirt.
And I was getting antzy to take some pictures.
Thank you all for letting me join you this month and for all your words of encouragement (I really felt I was in over my head)
      So...[IMG]

    13. Thank you!

I believe she is (and so am I) :)

    14. thank you SteamWitch :D Thaddeus is such a diva ^_^ He looks so perfect in that outfit (and he knows it!) did you paint his mouldings to match the clothes or make clothes to match his mouldings?

MoomaBJD I love the way you've styled those photos :love Really love the 2nd pic - she looks so serene in her beautiful outfit - absolutely stunning!

    15. I painted his embossing as bright and weathered copper and fit his clothing to match. Yes, he is quite a diva. Thanks.

    16. Thank you @elve I was so pleased with how the light hit her in the second picture. Its one of her best photos. :)

    17. Everyone's work is absolutely stuning this time around! I've been truly blown away by the unique beauty of each outfit.:D Awesome work everybody!

    18. Everyone's projects have turned out so amazingly!! I just caught up on the thread. ^^
I haven't been able to do much on my red dress because I came down with a terrible cold, and now I have company coming from out of state, but I'm going to do my best to wrap up this week! Since there's only one more part for me to make, it shouldn't be too hard. I just have to find an hour or two to squeeze it in.

    19. @Myuuchan don't rush, the next round is Unfinished Business so you have a whole other month to finish up.

      • x 1
    20. *digs out the pom poms* You can do it Myuuchan! :cheer

    21. Okay, I've been inactive on DOA for a while now, and I've finally started getting back into things. I was just poking around and stumbled upon this thread. What surprise! I've actually been working on a Haute Couture dress for my girl! I haven't taken a lot of progress pictures thusfar (just the one), but I'll share everything I have so far so I can keep everyone up to date here. :D

The doll I am sewing for is a Dream of Doll, Dream of Teen, Isis. Her name is Isabella and she's very much my haute couture supermodel that... currently lacks wardrobe. I decided this HAD to be remedied!!!

My inspiration can be found here:

      Isabella Haute Couture
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2015-16 Collection
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2015-16 Collection

Though I don't know if you'd so much call it inspiration as "I am trying to recreate this dress for my doll, but in red." XD

I've drafted the pattern myself, and it has taken trial and error, but I am finally to the assembly stage (with only a few pieces still needing drafting).

I just used fabrics I had in my stash (thus why I went with red... well, and it's a good color on her!).

Here's the only progress shot I've taken thus far, of me trying the upper lining for fitting. I've gotten a long way since then, so I'll probably take some more shortly! Not sure if I'll finish by the deadline, but hey, at least I've gotten this far, and now I have people to share my progress with and whose progress I can watch to keep me motivated and inspired! <3 I'm really loving what I've seen so far!

    23. Very nice color on the skirt :)

    24. Wow, Photobucket has just decided to basically shut down :( I'm so over it!
Anyway, finished the Hanbok - here's a pic (best I'm doing tonight after wrestling w/the stupid program):

    25. oh and there was me thinking I'd have to sew a business suit :aeyepop:

well done Teleri - she looks gorgeous! And yes I deleted my entire photobucket in a fit of exasperation a couple of years ago - ooops! Wish I had remembered to copy/paste more of my pics to my computer first! :doh

Nice work greg_kagawa and Kendrah - I look forward to seeing the finished creations :D

    26. Haha, I didn't want to have to drag this into a second round, though, I have enough unfinished business as it is!
I did manage to finish, though ^_^
      Here she is:

    27. Wow she looks spectacular @Myuuchan. Lovely dress with gorgeous bead work.

    28. absolutely gorgeous Myuuchan - well done! :love

    29. Oh, Myuuchan, that is stunning! The beadwork is lovely!

    30. @sakuraharu The embroidery and beading you're doing looks absolutely gorgeous, I am so looking forward to seeing your dress come together!

@SteamWitch Love Thaddeus and his sarong, so imperious! I think the beading on the more extravagant version was lovely, but I do think the latest update is fantastic too.

@MayBee25 Moya's gown and accessories are really wonderful, it's a cohesive set that all works wonderfully together. She looks beautiful :)

@PoeticSoul That is superb, I love how you've translated your drawn plan into an outfit. You must be super pleased, it's brilliant!

@elve Lovely clean lines, I love that sort of style dress :)

@Realmling SO CUTE ^^ I love the concept, it's just adorable!

@MoomaBJD You're nearly there, it looks gorgeous. The time it takes will be totally worth it, the beading really adds another dimension to the outfit and the colours are so pretty!

@Myuuchan Your girl looks fab in her new dress :)

@Teleri Wooo! Photos finally working and a lovely outfit to boot, the hanbok looks great!

@Kendrah Welcome! Love your inspiration dress, I've seen that around on pinterest a few time before, and I'm so excited to see it in doll scale.

      @greg_kagawa Looking sharp!

I've seen recently that Dior has been making scale versions of their creations, anyone had a look at their videos?? Now there's some eye candy!!

I'm woefully behind, I am in the final stages of writing my dissertation, so have done zero work on my outfit. I might be relegated to the 'unfinished business' round. That's ok though, I might be able to squeeze in an outfit for my other girl if there's time :3nodding:

    31. Thank you @flowergirl. Thaddeus is happy with both especially when it was apparent he could show off more leg and be more of a diva in the less beaded style.

    32. @flowergirl, thanks. I just finished and will post pics either today or tomorrow. :)

It is overwhelming to see the level of talent on display here! Can't wait to see more finished projects. :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    33. @Myuuchan, your girl is an absolute stunner in that beautiful gown. The color looks amazing on her and I love the beadwork. Awesome job!:)

@Teleri, that Hanbok turned out so pretty and your girl looks positively gorgeous in it. Truly beautiful work!

@greg_kagawa, I can really recognize shades of Jackie O in that outfit...wonderful lines! I can't wait to see it with the jacket once you're finished.

    34. Oh my, thank you everyone for the kind words ^^
The out-of-state company I was entertaining headed for home today, so I'll catch up on examining everyone else's projects this weekend! Hang in there, all of you who aren't done--there are a few days left in January!

      More progress...

    36. Looking great!!

    37. :abow: I have been in one of those dissertation stages where I've started, but have no desire to work on it...for three years, lol. Work work work! Get it done and over with! :D I'm going to go find those Dior videos....
I actually do hope to sit down tomorrow or Sunday and see what I can knock out on my dress. It'll be a breeze once I figure out how to do the back I want and get a feel for how to use the fabric. I hear we can stretch a bit into next month's theme too. I hope that's true! ;)

    38. Everyone's work looks great!

I've mainly been lurking, as usual :sweat I have been working on this, slowly, though between work, other distractions, and the fact that I sew by hand 99.9% of the time, I haven't gotten very far yet. Another one very glad that next month is for Unfinished Business, haha.

I'm not happy with the sleeves, especially the under-arm seam, but I'm not sure I have enough of this fabric to fix it. >_> The next thing I intend to do is make an over-tunic, that will hopefully hide how bad the under-tunic looks. =P

    39. thank you flowergirl ^_^

great work greg_kagawa :D I want to make a jacket for my girl too - I think it will be more difficult than a dress!

keep going Kyarwon - you have a whole month to finish now ^_^

    40. All this time futzing with this bodice pattern and I don't like it now that I've got one that sorta works. I have a feeling we're gonna end up in overtime with this one...

    41. Here is my Coco in her Vionnet 1925 dress. I ended up using silk crepe and sewed it by hand. She still needs a slip underneath, but I read that in the early years, Vionnet did not allow her models to wear undergarments, so I don't feel that bad. ;)

For comparison, here is the original.

    42. @sakuraharu, Beautiful work, Bravo. She looks fantastic and I love the little purse.

    43. You did a beautiful job on the embroidery :)

      • x 1
    44. Thank you @SteamWitch and @MoomaBJD. The embroidery took much longer than expected, about 20 hours, so I was expecting the dress itself to be a piece of cake, because it only has two pieces. But because the pieces were such weird shapes, it was hard to figure out how to scale them. It took me four muslins and lengthening the pattern to get things about right. I didn't think Limhwa girls were that disproportionate compared to real life, but their legs are apparently longer.

    45. I had that problem big time scaling the Star Trek uniforms for my long legged, skinny Ringdolls. I had to scale horizontal and vertical separately. then add to the length of the legs. You did a great job she looks amazing and the embroidery is gorgeous.

    46. @sakuraharu, That dress is gorgeous! I'm amazed with your embroidery...it really defines the haute couture nature of that dress and beautifully accentuates the unmistakable 1920s lines.:)

    47. I can't believe how many beautiful creations have been done in this round.

      Teddy

    48. @urbanizer I've finally finished the dissertation, it's being bound today, handed in tomorrow. At long last! I hope you find the inspiration to complete yours ^^
@sakuraharu OOOOOH! That is lovely, the white was a great choice for her skintone, and the embroidery is stunning! You should be thrilled, it looks gorgeous on her :)

I'm still behind, I'll be moving over to the unfinished business challenge with my dress now, and hopefully have something to show for it by the end!

@Teddy I know right?! Love this thread. Will you be joining in on the next challenge? :)

      • x 1
    49. Possibly - goodness knows I've enough unfinished projects for 20 such rounds, so I should take part, and I want to, but whether I'll have the time or mental energy is another matter.

      Teddy

    50. Go vote for the upcoming rounds. It's like a waiting room, kind of cool, I hope it works

      ...and now I'm done.

    52. Excellent!!!

    53. @greg_kagawa, she looks excellent, and so chic in pink and black. I love the pill box hat. She looks so much like jackie-o!

@flowergirl, congratulations on finishing your dissertation! I remember the huge feeling of relief and accomplishment from wrapping up something so time consuming. I hope you have something special planned to commemorate the occassion.

I can't wait to see your completed garment, although in your case it's obvious you have had more pressing things to deal with. Thank you also for your kind words!

@PoeticSoul, thank you! I really don't think it can compare to the creativity of your work, but i do think it suits Coco's style. (Although, since she is my embodiment of Coco Chanel, maybe it's a no-no to dress her in a competing designer? She should be wearing what @greg-kagawa made!)

@Realmling, thank you! I look forward to seeing your finished tomato couture. So far it is to die for!

@SteamWitch, yes, I can see why you'd have that problem with ringdoll boys-- they are all leg, like Dollmore model girls. You did a great job on those uniforms, and this outfit as well. You have excellent color sense.

@MoomaBJD, thank you. :) I am in love with your lehenga and dupatta. I am just beginning to learn about Indian fashion, but I think you've captured the aesthetic perfectly.

@Myuuchan, your gown turned out fabulous. The beading is just exquisite, and the photo is lovely as well.

@MayBee25, your gown is wonderful. It is so spring-like and fresh. And the jewelry you made is a perfect complement.

@Wynn, please keep at it! Looking forward to seeing how you use those fabrics.

@elve, your dress is so clean and elegant. It is so easy to go wrong with animal prints, but you did an amazing job. The fabric flows so smoothly. Great work!

@Teleri, beautiful work on the hanbok. The yellow and red go well together, and make her look wealthy.

@Kendrah, so many seams! Gowns like that are so fiddly to fit, but it looks like you are doing a good job. Looking forward to your results.

@Kyarwon, I hope you find time to finish. I think the armscye looks fine-- maybe the seam allowance needs clipping?

@Teddy, I hope you find time to join in next month. It's always a treat to see your work.

I am hoping to finish up my rococo project this next month, and then maybe start a Vionnet project. My hubby is getting me the Japanese version of the Vionnet pattern book, and I think it would be fun to make some more of her dresses. I think I will be able to fit some of them in under the categories being voted on.

    54. Thanks! This was fun - love that it motivates me to FINISH stuff!!!!
      Everybody's outfits were so inspiring!
