Wearables Sewing Project: Basics [ Round 98]

May 1, 2021

    1. I think Sindy's little sister, Patch, and Penny Brite wore the same size clothes and shoes They may even have had the same body, or very similar). Nice to find they fit your MYou.

    2. Great fit and lovely fabric. And good basic patterns are worth a lot!

    3. @Aeilia Yay! So glad you were able to finish a piece! Nice work!! Super cute too!

    4. Thanks, but it's simple, really - just a matter of having the right foot for the sewing machine. This is the first time I've used the stitch-in-the-ditch foot that came with my machine.

    5. Congrats to everyone who managed to get something done for this round :celebrate.

@Teddy Your petticoats look lovely. And you made so many :aeyepop:.

@Aeilia That little dress looks super cute :love.

While I didn't manage to make a bra to go with the panties I made a pajama instead. At least it's something but I am not happy with the fit of the shirt at all. I'll have to make a new one.

    6. @laquaza Everything completed is a learning experience!! Way to go for finishing a whole outfit! I love the cute pattern of it. Can't say too many of my (human) night shirts fit super well either :kitty2 Maybe your little lady picked it up secondhand just cause it had a cute pattern ;)

    7. What's wrong with it? It looks fine in the pictures.

    8. That would explain why these shoes came with a lot for Sindy. It certainly is a bonus that they fit. Most of my dolls go shoeless, as the ones I've bought rarely fit.

Thanks! I agree, a basic pattern is valuable. One can alter it to make almost anything.

Thank you so much! It's rare that I manage to finish anything in one round.

Thanks PoeticSoul! I think she's just the cutest little thing.

Thank you! I think your girls pyjamas are cute, and don't see anything wrong at all with the shirt.

    9. I'm late!!! But I did end up finishing the dress for Peanut. No picture because flickr is being glitchy though... The little jacket to go along with it is a little more than half finished and the pieces for Evie's dress were cut this round. And that was the end of my progress. I will still finish up the pieces and hopefully do the others I set put to do as I won't be participating in the next round. I feel pretty uninspired right now as far as the new theme goes. I do have a couple of dolls that wear it, but I'm focusing on dressing naked dolls at the moment. So good luck to everyone in the next round!

And omg! I have a ton of back pages to read! From what I've seen, everyone has done amazing this round. The petticoats, loungewear, socks, leggings, shirts, dresses, skirts, everything came out beautifully. Congrats everyone that participated this round. :thumbup

    10. Yay! Well done

I'm sitting out the next round too - thay may not mean I get aorudn to working on any of my unfinished stuff, like I should, but it's what I intend.

    11. Oh my gosh, the whole outfit is gorgeous. You've done such a great job!

    12. @Zavrinas If you make progress on your work over the next month definitely share it in the next round area if you feel like it! I've done some of that before, just cause I find it helpful to "hang out" with everyone while they're working ;) even if I'm working on something different :)

    14. Little bit of follow-up.

Today I got the waistband onto the last of the petticoats I cut out at the satratof this round. Better late thn never, an' all that.

They all still need a hook and thread bar, or ties, or button and loop at the waist, but are done other than that. Seven shaped-panel petticoats with ruffles at the hems, and six unshaped petticoats with tucks around the bottom. Thirteen petticoats in all.

Hopefully, that should l help prrevent fights between my 10 SD-sized Victorian girls about not enough petticoats to go around.

    15. Dang, good going @Teddy! I'm sure your girls are happy now. :D

    16. Thanks - Kinda makes up for some of the rounds I never completed.

    17. Heh heh...better late than never. I finally got the robes done for the incoming crew. The little ones are all simple folded squares as I put up earlier in the thread. For the two big guys, Stephie gets his fur robe (the black one) and for Wesley's, I reworked an old, very dated top. I've no idea if those set-in sleeves will remotely work. If not...I'll have towels waiting for them. :D Good thing, since they should arrive some time this week!

    20. @Teddy and @maxxxamillion

Thank you! Aren't they fun? Wesley's already complaining in my head about Stephen's wonderful soft (tasteful) black fur. My answer to him? Tasteful is as tasteful does.

I'm not real sure he took that the way I meant it. Gulp.

    21. We all have our dolly-crosses-to-bear. Mine is two dolls who want to default to wearing pink all the time.

One of them I can perusade into lilac, the other one is determinedly pink... {sigh}... But I comfort myself that it icould be infinitely worse - I could have a doll who wants ot wear grey, whihc would be completely intollerable.

    22. :D :D :D I've been lucky. Wiishu loves everything, including pink...he insists it's not girly at all (his concept of "girly" is extremely adaptable to his feelings about the item) and Pook doesn't care if he has clothes or not. The boys coming in are going to be tougher, because their characters are very established. JP just needs to be extremely 23rd Century fashionable (his position requires it) Stephen is HIGHLY touchy-feely about fabrics, and is one of those who can make a sack look amazing, hmmm....he also unconsciously uses that ability as a weapon, now I think about it, and he designs his own rather unique look... and Wesley doesn't give a, um, hoot?...until Stephen gets something really cool, then he gets (mostly) mock jealous. He's got the money to dress to the nines, but he's been known to make a statement wearing a super tasteless green sweater (something I'm working hard to imagine so I can make it) and a skimpy towel. His socks, when he wears them, notoriously do not match or have holes in them. Anevai is Native American, comfortable in jeans and T-shirt, but looks forward to whatever she gets a chance to wear. She likes looking at others more than looking in a mirror. I think she'll probably grab the soft brown fur, esp if I can find the little beaded strip, hiding in all Wiishu's Stuff, for a belt.

    23. Sounds like me, except my shoes don't match either.

    24. Heh heh...Wesley says: Shoes? What'er those?

    25. {GRIN!} Sounds's like we're working from the same book in that respect, I only started wearing shoes regularly when I moved to the city. Even now, I kick them off as soon as I'm indoor (much to the amusement of my colleagues at work).

    26. He's arriving soon (today!!!!) and the box opening has been happening in my head. If the opening story goes anything like what's been suggested, he and Wiishu are going to be FUNNY!
