I made a summer dress for my girls from an old kitchen curtain set. The original white material was quite a bit see-through, so I had to add a light lining to it. My first try ended up with too much underskirt, but instead of scraping the material or cutting it smaller, I just made an elastic skirt with it instead, lol.
Thank you for the link, it looks like just what I need. I have made them lots of dresses and skirts but need a pattern to figure out trousers.
I really like the whole outfit, but I've always styled my Minifees as more mature, at least young moms, so it doesn't really suit my girls.
Blouse from a modified human size pattern, apron my own design and bloomers from a dolly dolly pattern book. Modeled by Minifee Eliya, A line body cutie bust.
Shirring - so that's what that is called! I've been trying to figure that out for ages but it's surprisingly difficult to find information on something when you have no idea what it's called. Thank you.
I also sew by hand when I can it is very therapeutic for me the only reason I started using a sewing machine is because my wrists were in so much pain. But I sew all my dolls lolita clothes by hand I find the stitches are more precise
EilonwyG, the "old kitchen curtain set" looks great on your girl! Cute dress. ElegantRarity, pretty outfit! And lovely details. I wanna spam a summer dress that made for my girl.
I've been sewing a lot for Elfonda lately. This is her sixth pair of pants from an Adams-Harris pattern, "Off the Top". The top is also an Adams-Harris pattern. It is "Heaven Sent".
There are some gorgeous outfits in this thread. Wovenflame: I love your girl's style. It suits her very much.
Thanks! She has a pair of these pants in red that she hasn't modeled yet but I hope to combine them with some sort of a Canada Day shirt for their debut on July 1st. I have a pair of novelty socks with a Canada/maple leaf motif that I will try using.
Hello! I am new to DOA but I recently got a Naruni '14 boy who I tried to make jean leggings for so I hope you don't mind me sharing! https://www.flickr.com/photos/124925370@N02/18318173138/ I need to sew the cuffs but other than that I think it's finished ^u^
Sharing new outfits: Shirt using a pattern from Unoa Freak. skirt and shoes are my own pattern. And shorts and top
I'm surprised this thread doesn't see more posting. I would have thought more people were sewing for this popular size. Here's Elfonda in a new top I made for her yesterday. I modified the Adams-Harris pattern "All Dolled Up" to make what was a cropped top longer, and without the opening in the back.
maybe some people who sew for mnfs don't know there is a separate thread for them? not all sewers even know there are sewing threads. that top looks really cute lengthened. did you have to modify the neck to make it a pull on?
No, but I took her head off to get it on. That's not a big problem with a Minifee because they have an easy off mechanism but for dolls where head removal is a hassle I'd definitely stick with the back opening. It's Adams-Harris.com, and the ones that fit Minifee are in the MSD section. Be careful though and watch the actual measurements of the dolls she uses as models. Not all of the outfits will fit Minifee. I've had success with "Off the top", "Heaven Sent", and "All Dolled Up". You might also have luck with the ones Adams-Harris does for Ellowyne, since that doll is in the same general size.
I love to sew for my girls but every time I buy a pattern I'm never satisfied with it and I want to make changes to the pattern. I wish just once I could pick up a pattern and make exactly what the pattern calls for. Does any one else do that?
My thoughts exactly! I`d love a pattern that would be perfect fit like right away, not after altering it ten times. And when I have to modify the pattern, it usually turns out to fit even worse. I`m not good with patterns at all.
i have never in my life followed a pattern exactly the way it was written. i love to change them up and make them uniquely mine. i always think of patterns as starting points so it doesn't bother me at all. but that's just the way i am. i used to get into fights all the time with my mom when she taught me to sew 'cause she's a pattern follower and doesn't change anything. her stuff always worked and mine didn't necessarily. but as i got experience and learned how to change things properly she started asking me to change patterns for her that weren't the way she wanted... and she did the finicky finishing details that i was too impatient to do, so we made a good team, unfortunately i have to do all of it myself now .
I made this top for my girl. It wasn't exactly what i set out to make, but i love it anyways! I was feeling lazy that day and didn't want to get out my sewing machine so i ended up handstitching the entire thing.
It's a pleasure to see your lovely creations and all these minifee lovers! I sew mainly for minifee doll, casual clothes and shoes and sometimes complete outfits here is one of my last creation, a tribal warrior outfit Tribal Warrior by Little Monsters Atelier, sur Flickr
This is my first time trying to sew a moto jacket out of old stretch denim jeans. The pattern was challenging and I will keep practicing, maybe next time I will choose a thinner material so it doesn't look so bulky.
@Serdtse, I imagine material that thick would be hard to work with, but your coat looks very cool as-is.
@blukissed Thank you. Yes it was challenging to make the seams look neat, so thats why I chose to distress it, and since this is my first try I thought I could at least gain some more experience learning how to make one. Here is another picture of some of the detail. LOL its hard to believe this jacket fits in the palm of my hand, but in pictures it looks so much bigger.
it looks nice the way it is. if you are looking for thinner denim though, you might want to see if you can find a denim shirt at a thrift shop, or use jeggings both of which are easier to sew this small.
Does anyone have an tips for sewing for the full bust? Every time I try to do a dress or a shirt I just get so frustrated trying to deal with those balloon boobs
When you find out, let me know. My minifee has the smaller Glamour bust and I still only put her in tshirts. Darts, darts and more darts.
Thank you for the advice. I was using a denim material I thought would be the same thickness as the leather I have, so I could practice getting the seams right before making holes in my leather. I agree with side bust darts ,front bodice darts ,and back darts should help with getting a nice fit for the bust. I would also recommend doing a Serran wrap masking tape bust form on your girl and carefully cutting it out in the back after marking the bust on the tape so you could see exactly where those bust darts go. Edit; once you have the taped form cut out, you can cut the darts out from the front bodice so you could use it as a pattern. I hope this helps.
I'm not a very experienced seamstress, so the only advice I have for full-figured busts is peasant blouses and lots of elastic! It's not a particularly useful tactic if you're looking for something form-fitting or revealing, though.
Thanks guys. I spent Sunday night trying to teach myself darts and figuring out a basic bodice pattern. It's not perfect, but at least I can use it to make other stuff. At least with humans, our chests are smushy and bras can help >_> Also, I was trying to resize an EID pattern to fit MNF, but it didn't go quite right. I resized the pages in PS until the scale was right, then reduced it the average percentage difference between MNF and EID measurements, but it was still much to large when I printed it out. In retrospect, it's possible that I didn't have the correct view setting in PS, but other than that, is there anything else I could have messed up?
Haven't been here for ages but I'm back in the saddle Currently crafting some 1/4 bags inspired by my MNF girl, Auri. She'll show them to you later, once they're finished. Here's little teaser: They are tiny. About 5 x 6 cm. And have hidden magnetic openings
Awww, thank you so much. It's very motivating to know that you like it. I'll get to work, then, to show them finished asap :*
Hi everyone!! I just put down a deposit on my Minifee Mika I wanna make him an outfit that's regal but very organic and kind of archaic feeling (my story is all based in traditional faerie folklore). Do you guys have any tips for sewing for the Minifee Boy Moe body?
I strongly recommend that you look at ellowyne-sized patterns. Ellowyne clothes fit the moe boy body pretty much perfectly. edit: You'll need to lengthen any pants or tights, though.
do you happen to know how well the ellowyne patterns fit the moe or A line girls with bigger busts? good to know about the boy body though!
They tended to be baggy on my moe girl with a glamour bust. I think the chest will fit okay, but they'll tend to be a little loose around the waist. The legs are the right length for A-line and a little long on moe line.
I’m just getting into sewing and had no idea how finicky Peter pan collars could be. I love love how yours turned out! Very clean and tidy, I hope to one day make one like it!
Meticulous sewing skills! This is gorgeous. Proof of the advantage of pressing items during and after sewing. ❤️
Wovenflame, sparrk, ittybittykittyz, thank you for your good feedback. I don't sew much. When you start sewing, not everything turns out beautifully. Only after some time it turns out something to sew more or less beautiful.
I wanted to share a dress I made! I’m getting closer to not having to undo my work to get a nice end result lol. Pattern by Jaune Yero on Etsy.
