Sewing Sewing Cape with hood - SD 60 cm

    1. Cape with Hood - SD 60 cm girl

      1. Materials:
      - 50 cm of cotton
      - 50 cm of velvet
      - 1 button 1.5 cm diameter
      - 30 cm of matching frill ribbon
      - matching thread

      2. Instructions:
      - Copy the pattern from the images provided
      - Main part: it is basically a quarter of a circle with the neck cut out
      --> cut the pattern on fold twice, one out of velvet, one out of cotton
      - Place two pieces of material right sides together and pin
      - Sew side and circle parts
      - Turn inside out then press seams open
      - Sew around the edge about 1 cm from edge


      3. Hood: ( pattern was created for a smallish SD head , you might have to make it a bit bigger)
      - Cut out twice from velvet and twice from cotton
      - Sew each part separate first cotton parts then velvet parts
      - Press seams open
      - Put the two pieces right sides together and pin, baste if it becomes too fiddly
      - Sew around edges and turn right sides to outside, press seams
      - Sew along outer edge
      - Sew the frilly ribbon around the hood edge

      4. Putting hood to cape:

      - Cape: fold the seam allowance at the neck in and baste
      - Fit the hood seam allowance inside the cape neck part and baste
      - Sew the two pieces together, you might need to make two parallel lines of sewing.

      5. Finish:
      - Sew button in place and sew the fastening part with thick cotton thread or embroidery thread

    2. That came out adorable! I have an msd cloak for my partner's doll on my to sew list and I hadn't actually thought much about putting a liner in. It makes it look much more professional, I will have to look around and see what I can find. Thanks!~
