Hi I have seen little rag dolls that people have for their ABJD's but I can't find out anything about them. I saw some fabric on eBay recently that showed an image of one: I'd really like to make one. Does anyone know the name of this little girl? Is eBay the only place to find the fabric to make her? Any info is greatly appreciated!
If you look on Y! Japan you can find dolls that look like that. I dont think they where a particular brand, they apear to be 50's baby dolls.
I'm love with the same doll and can't find any info either! I don't buy off of Y!J, so I was wondering if there were any other places to get some doll items or fabric of this particular doll.
KoalaJoe has a post in the Gallery with that exact little doll next to her Mini May, and they're both wearing the same dress and bonnet.
there was one that came with one of the new pullips, and on the advertisement/promo photos for her it was labelled as a Showa doll. btw... if you find a fabric to make them from, I want one too!
Thanks for your input everyone KoalaJoe's Mini May and rag doll post is super adorable! Brent, thanks for the tip about Showa. That's a Japanese era ranging from 1930-1989 so that kind of co-insides with what PookieNoodle was saying. Modern vintage rag doll. I'll let you know if I find anything else out Genie Stallings, thanks I'll see if I can find that Dolly Dolly! Wooo.
http://www.clothdollsupply.com/past.html#1 This page seems to have an abundance of vintage patterns. They're photocopies of the original patterns, so I'm not sure what the copyright info is on it. I know after 40-60 years that copyright has to be re-established or things become public property, but I'm not sure if these fit the bill or not. You might also try going to the thrift shop and buying up some of the used patterns, they're like 25 cents each. X3 I inherited some from my sister-in-law.
I've googled "Showa" before (that's what I came up with when first looking) but it does cover a broad range of dolls throughout different eras. I didn't ever seem to find exactly this type of doll.
The name of the doll is はなちゃん Hana~chan.... I think I use to se her around YjA and its very cute. I love specially the fabrics that got her as pattern, really lovely ---> Hana-chan / Eiko Kimura Fabrics
Flonne you saved the day! I had heard she was called Hana-chan as well, but of course nothing would show up on YJ! because I couldn't convert it to Japanese characters. Woo thanks for the ebay links too My wallet is not happy but I am
Oh wow that name does bring up a lot of dolls in YJ! Thanks  This has been quite the learning experience!!
AWESOME! SO CUTE! I remembered I had a cloth doll pattern, so heres some links to it, its pretty cute finished, and it wouldnt be hard to make a diffrent shape or size of doll just by copying the method.
