Here's the first attempt in what was to be the "real" fabric. I'm going to ditch it, however, because it turns out to be too thick. Second attempt will be in a lighter weight but crisper fabric. In the end, I tried to go without stays by putting two strips of plastic in the bodice front. Here's the pattern for the bodice above. If you use it, put up a picture! I apologize for the messiness of the scans. A virus killed Photoshop, and I haven't reinstalled it yet. Both parts were scanned at 150 DPI, and then reduced to 20% of their original size. I forgot to post the final dress. Oops!
That is stunningly beautiful. The world needs more satin-clad pirates. Is that embroidery at the bodice opening, or lace, or trim, or what?
Thanks! It's a gold wire trim. It's a pain to work with because it unravels, but it's beautiful. I'm pretty sure I found it at JoAnne's Fabric.
Very pretty, but a Polonaise is a complete dress with a bustled overdress. The pattern you posted is a bodice.
This is truly lovely~ Might borrow this pattern for a butterfly dress for Calla. Thank you for sharing!
I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The pics are all blurry and I'm really interested in this pattern.
Apparently Photobucket is now doing this when your pictures are looked at too often. Big frown. See if you can access the pictures directly, at Kat Lowe's Library
I'm so so excited to see others in this hobby who enjoy historical costumes! I'm planning out a couple different Regency outfits for my Maskcat Juni
