Showing the final look first https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53509837303_7b9b3b1e00_k.jpg First I started out wondering if she'd fit in the carrier at all since she's 70cm from head to tail (Angell-studio Lin DaiYu on the AS Mermaid body). https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53509837993_e739ee271a_k.jpg Then I was suggested to put some iridescent organza fabric in the back and someone else suggested adding some fairy lights, so i looked it up to see if i could find those easily and cheaply. I found the fabric first and about $7 later, I had this. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53509669531_32319c84de_k.jpg I didn't have any fairy lights, but i wondered how it might possibly looked, so i tried mimicking the effect with my laptop flipped in tablet mode displaying stars on a black background. However, my laptop screen is an LCD screen, so the blacks aren't black like OLEDs are, so the effect isn't quite perfect to mimic fairy lights, so there is excess backlighting. But i thought it was cool enough to try the store again for fairy lights. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53509837008_0ccdbfc3eb_k.jpg i found $2 battery operated fairy lights and tried them out, but they were more soft white lights, so they were more yellow tinted than i preferred for the look. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53508776267_832f62fa11_k.jpg I then wondered if it were possible to make the lights more blue. I have a bottle of rit dyemore already on hand, so i wondered if the bulbs were glass or plastic. i thought there was a very good possibility that they were plastic due to the price point. I did cursory research on if it was safe to get them wet and saw that some fairy lights were marketed as being waterproof other than the battery housing. I thought that $2 wasn't too expensive to be wrong, so off to the hot water bath I went. i did consider that the thermal expansion differences between the wires and LEDs in the plastic blobs could cause cracking or leaks into the lights, so i didn't warm up the water beyond 63C (145F) and left the wire in for several hours. I of course left out the battery housing without any batteries for safety. The lights in the background are the original color. The foreground lights are the dyed lights. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53509989569_aba28f1d0b_k.jpg final result seen from above. I wondered if i should have dyed a string magenta for some color variation, but after putting it behind the fabric, it naturally had some great color variation into the pink tones because of the fabric iridescence, so i stuck with just the dyeing all the lights blue. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...20cb77c06700cb08e645f37f9dced535f968540f9be3& For size reference, here are pics of 65cm boys in the carrier from previous times. It does require the use of double jointed knees and thigh joints however. It's much harder to fit my shorter 58cm dollfie dream boy in this carrier due to the lack of flexibility he has. This is the pet carrier i got from amazon but you can also easily find it on aliexpress likely for cheaper--aka pet carrier bubble backpack. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53508775582_18ce5b2e43_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53508772187_efd2f5544b_k.jpg
You can dye fairy lights?! *adds new DIY on the long list* She looks beautiful in the iridescent sea bubble, thank you for sharing the progress with us
This is absolutely gorgeous!! I've never thought of putting dolls in those carriers, that's such a cute idea!
I love everything about this project. It reminds me of the ita bags BUT the pet carrier plastic is sturdier so even if the con is crowded, your dolls won't sustain damage unless you get seriously pushed around.
I never thought that i can use cat carry bag this way. Of course I can't, my cat won't let me. I need to buy another one. Beautiful photo by the way.
@Kasu thank you! @cobaltconduct make sure when you do that you take out the battery and don't let the battery housing get wet! @siteblock thanks! @Arengil @Isabeau right?? it's like an underwater bubble, but..above water lol @Killjoyofkilljoys it's great because it's stiff so it's also protective of the doll! @jessholy that was entirely my thinking too when i got it! hands free protection but also show off! @resses2 lol i also have a 2nd one that's dedicated for the cat as well: Bahboh / Sai on Instagram: "A day at the park. . #cat #bengalcat #bengal #고양이 #뱅갈고양이 #bluebonnets" though if i leave the clear one out, she'll also crawl into that one too.
@bahboh Wow! What a gorgeous pokemon! You are blessed person. Your cat and your dolls are both beautiful.
