aod stand for angel of dream http://angel-of-dream.com/ i like their body, but i don't know if i can put an x2 head on it
I have a Charles head coming because I want to make a pouty little Charlie girl. I was wondering if the head had to go on a 7 years body or could it be put on the next size up Serendipity body (I think it's 14 years). Anyone tried this or know whether or not it will look funny? I don't own anything from Serendipity other than the head so I have no idea, and would like to make sure that when I am able to order the body at a later date, I get one that will work with the head. Help please?
There's 14yrs (about 58cm) and there's Mini14yrs (42cm girl). I don't know about the look of it but I think a 7yrs. head will go on a Mini 14yrs. body. Here are the measurements given by Serendipity. 7 yrs. Body Size Height (include head): B - 43cm; G - 42.5cm Head (around) : 19cm Neck: 7cm Shoulder: 9cm; 8.5cm Breast: 18cm Waist: 15cm Hip: 19.7cm; 13.5cm Shoulder~arms: 13.5cm Legs: 20.5cm Thigh:11.5cm Ankle: 6.5cm Foot: 5.6cm Mini 14yrs. Girl Body Size - 1.5 version body Height (include head): 42cm Head (around) : 18cm Neck: 6.7cm Shoulder: 6.5cm Breast: 16cm Waist: 12cm Hip: 19cm Shoulder~arms: 12cm Legs: 21.5cm Thigh:11.5cm Ankle: 6cm Foot: 5.5cm I love looking at they're pictures of Charles. I've thought about putting him on a Mini 14 boy body but it's a one piece torso.
I'm currently waiting on a Serendipity Dobby head to arrive to me. I have no knowledge of this company whats so ever. So would anyone like to give me the lo down on them? opnions? pics? body suggestions?? For info hes BW...like paper white, so i was thinking a bobobie body would match him nicely. but i'm open to suggestions! Thanks ahead of time!
Look for information about Serendipity Valentine - he was sold for a longer time. I don't know what body he would match and fit on. He is meant to be a 43cm doll with an immature male body. - Height: 43cm - Wig: 7-8inch - Eyes: 14-16mm Which color skin Dobby head is it? If pinky white, ShellyL has a Serendipity Valencia head on an Angel Region body - you could ask her about the head fit but her Valencia is pinky white and Valencia is meant for the age 14 body (I think) and there may be a neck size difference - do not know. You could try searching the board for Serendipity head or for Serendipity hybrid Carolyn
oh that would be so cute to find a 43cm body! He's bw, which may make finding him a body a bit simplier i hope...as ive found every company except luts is fairly easy to find resin matches for the bw's. THanks for the info...i'll be sure to do a quick search for those.
The only mini boy body Serendipity sells is their their usual Dobby body - Mini 7yr boy. Their current 14-yr boy body is for an SD. If you bought the Serendipity 7-yr body body you would need to know which of the 3 skin colors are (white, pink white, or normal which is more creamy). And you may get better answers if you edit your first post in the thread, go to Advanced edit, and change the title to Bodies that fit Serendipity Dobby and Charles? Carolyn
thanks again carol! Hes is totally paper white...so i'm sure hes white white. :P i'll change the title to see what i get. XD
Actually there are two 14 year bodies. Mini-14 and 14. Mini-14 is a slender MSD/ Unoa body and is, I believe, the one Valencia came with. Sadly there are no pictures of it on the website, only pictures of the girl version, but you can order it in either gender. I've been thinking of getting a normal skin one to make an Unoa hybrid.
Right! I missed that the listing was for both the boy and girl more mature mini bodies. Does anyone know whether the Dobby 7-year 43cm head will fit on the 43cm 14yr Serendipity body also? That is something you could ask Serendipity. Luts isn't going to sell white and normal skin anymore at some point and I have no idea if they would fit in proportions or neck size. I also don't know if there are any 7-year Serendipity mini heads (Dobby, Charles, Valentine (not Valencia)) on bodies other than Serendipity here (except fto the one I mentioned). Charles and Dobby 2-page thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69618 Nothing else turns up with obvious searches. Carolyn
I just checked the info board on Serendipity and the Mini-14 girl body (the measurements were not given for the boy) has a 6.7 cm neck and the 7yrs body has a 7 cm neck, so I think fit would be ok between the two, neck wise. The Bobobie body lists 7 cm as the size for their neck as well, so that stands a good chance of fitting too. Of course it's hard to tell the way a head will fit on a body until you actually try it out.
thanks! i noticed that too. but for a hundred bucks plus shipping...its worth a try! i think the AOD body is too mature for the head....so id rather go with bobobie
the bobobie body is a 108. plus shipping....it should be similar shade of white, because apperantly its paper white. this head is also really really white.
I have a sharmin head and she isn t yellow! She is pink I think! For a new serendipity body, may I choose normal or peach/pink skin? thanks for your help
You might want to ask Serendipity. Use small simple sentences, and also tell them which model Sharmin you have (not just the color). In the past, I heard people were able to send Serendipity their head and they would pick a body that matched well. I don't know if they still do that (and I think I would be afraid to do that!) Carolyn
Thanks for your answer! I have just mailed them! But the problem is I don t know which model sharmin i have! I can just describe the color skin. I would be afraid to send my head to serendipity too! No answer! I have tried my lati blue body but he is too yellow for my sharmin head!! I don't know what to do!
I would like a doll with three requirements: Mature body (female) Interchangeable elf ears MSD sized Serendipity Sharmin is the only doll I can think of that conveniently fits all three requirements, but I don't know where to buy her. She has disappeared from Dollmore, and I don't know where else to get her. Does anyone know where she went? I'm also looking at Souldoll Miryu or one of the female MNFs and getting their ears modded, but is it possible to make elf ears that can be put on and taken off? Any other suggestions that fit my requirements would be great. Thank you!
Have you considered Bobobie's new mature mini sized elf girl Sprite? I don't think her ears are changeable but she fits all your other criteria.
Sharmin was limited, and eventually sold out. Sometimes you see her on the second-hand market, but usually at a much higher price. Dolkot just came out with a mini line, and right now there's only a boy version up, despite the pictures of the girl one. Apparently the gender is only indicated by the face-up, and you get the boy body no matter what? Eghh. But you can swap the ears, like with Leaf.
Dollmore makes Doppel Asha, who isn't mature, but you could buy just the head and put her on a Mature body like Soulkids or Unoa.
To go with l33tprincess' suggestion Torrie also comes with 4 ear options An expensive way to go but also an option is Volks Full Choice System MSD f11,f13 and get an sdc body. You can order FCS in normal skin split and sell the parts you don't need like wig, zouk eyes, and fcs only body then buy a normal skin sdc body. Though you can only choose one option ear when doing an FCS if you take out the elf ears with the right wig it can look human
One other possibility is to get a Mini with normal ears and have a modder do elf ears small enough to be hidden by a wider wig. Then she could be human with some wigs and elven when her ears show. I don't think I've seen modded ears on a French resin doll - it may not be possible to match the translucence of French resin using epoxy, but I've seen some wonderful ear mods on normal resin dolls. Carolyn
Someone has graciously offered me their Sharmin, so I'm snatching her up! Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! (Not that I'm not still interested in replies to this thread. It might be helpful to searchers.)
There is another option for mature mini Elf, but not with interchangeable ears - CP Luts Minifee elves. I believe they come with a one-touch head changing mechanism, so you could change to a separately purchased minifee head in the same skin tone. But this is a bit more expensive that finding a doll with interchangeable ears! I am not sure if the separate heads come with a one-touch part on the neck - someone more familiar with the line could tell you. Carolyn
The very white one (3rd from right) is Serendipity Sharmin and she usually had switchable ears - human, short elf, and long elf. But Sharmin is no longer sold except resales. There were many different version of Sharmin besides the original version beige normal skin one. Some were white skin, later normal skin became pinker, some had dramatic goth makeup and very elaborate outfits. The special Sharmins cost more than original Sharmin. Sharmin also had sisters - Alice and Shall and Noel, but I don't think they had extra ears. In fact, it is possible that not all Sharmin models had the extra ears. In the old Dollmore listings, it mentions the ears for Memory Moule and original Sharmin, but not for Kimono or Boding Boding (and they don't show all of the versions that existed). All I can say is that if you buy one at resale, ask the seller about the extra ears - there should be human, short elf, and long elf if the doll came with extra ears. Here is a Sharmin database - some have custom faceups but many have their original faceups: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38753 The only other minis I know of with switchable ears are Dollmore Torrie and Dollmore Doppel Asha (immature girls, though there may be matching boys): http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=2396 http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=1600 Several other companies sell minis with elf ears, but not exchangable ears. Sharmin was a very popular doll in 2005, and they still pop up in the Marketplace and on Ebay (maybe one sale every 1-2 months). She is quite skinny and petite. Dollmore still sells clothes for her, and she could probably use some Unoa/Narae clothes, but maybe hot their shoes - her feet are very skinny. Carolyn
Also note that although Sharmin isn't being made anymore, you can still buy clothes for her from Dollmore and Cheerydoll
I know this is an old thread but just to let everyone know the Goodreau MSD sized BJD shoes fit sharmin/alice perfectly!
Just to add to this, from what I understand old Serendipity minis (Sharmin, Alice, Shall, Noel) had the same body, Dollmore still has info for the old dolls and states that they all have a foot size of 6cm. Unoas have 5cm feet, so shoes for Unoas would be too small for the old Serendipity minis. (I researched Unoa and Sharmin measurements when I bought my Liebchen as she has similar dimensions to both) Also, Serendipity don't have the foot measurements for their new "age 14" minis on their website, so I don't know how they compare to the old ones, however they state they are 44cm tall, which is 2cm taller than the old minis so may well have different sized feet.
I think the Serendipity 14yr body should be able to wear many of the better fitting Unoa/Narae/MNF shoes (see the thread in minis about their shoes). I own an original Sharmin and I briefly had a Serendipity 14yr body and I think the 14yr's feet are a bit more normal slim mini size/shape than the original Sharmin's feet. 14yr's feet seemed to be a bit slimmer than Unoa's, and maybe a bit shorter, but not too far off. I also imagine Goodreau shoes would work since they are said to work on Unoa. Carolyn
My SR body can wear Teen Trend shoes, but the Unoa size shoes generally are too big. Take a look at this pic and notice how small the feet are on the Serendipity body on the right.
Does this company still exist? I can't find their web site. You'll have to forgive me for asking this. I've been off the forum for the past two years and am now returning to bjds after my long absence. The only thing I found doing a search on DoA is that Sharmins aren't made anymore. I can't find any info on the company itself.
I contacted them at the end of March, when I first heard that they were closing their international site, and asked them about continuing sales on their Korean site. They replied that the Korean site had already closed and they were unable to take any orders after the first of April. They made beautiful dolls, I had always hoped to see more from them. Kathi
Just thought if anybodies interested Dollndoll are going to be making Sharmin again! Heres the answer I got when I posted there. Yippee!! Hello . I bought most serendipity doll's mold. Sharmin is one during them. Already, Sharmin's manufacture was completed, and is going to do face-up soon and take a picture. You can see sharmin in next month. Thank you .
Hi there, I have a Serendipity Sharmin that I adopted and her body is in pretty bad condition. Instead of looking for another Serendipity body though I was wondering if anyone knows what resin would match her face without the body looking disproportionate... Anyone have a sharmin on a different body? Thanks! -Jeshi
I have a Sharmin, she'll match size wise any slim msd... Color wise she Unoa is great. AoD and MNF white with some blushing I think would work. She is very pale as you know. Are you looking for a mature body or a younger look?
So my sister just bought her first BJD, a second hand MSD Serendipity Sharmin doll, and both of us were surprised at how much smaller she was compared to my MSD AOD Roa. She is a lot thinner, and her feet look itsy bitsy compared to my dolls. My sister tried Roa's shoes on Sharmin and they looked like clown shoes! We are both worried that if my sister tries to buy MSD shoes for her they will be way too big. Also, Sharmin has a very thin waist compared to Roa, so my sister was worried about buying her pants. Is it hard to find the right size clothing for these brand of dolls? I tried to see if I could find a Serendipity site to see if they made special clothing for them but I had no luck. If anyone has any suggestions for clothing or shoes, or knows the direct link to the Serendipity site that would be wonderful!
blackcat87: Serendipity's stopped making dolls. They have no website anymore. But, dollndoll bought some of their molds and is making some of their dolls. They don't have shoes or clothes for sharmin (yet?).
I have the same problem my Sharmin came with her outfit (white frilly nighty) I gonna make her clothes myself (I love the "Nithtmare Outfit" and already bought the fabric to make it)
I saw my first Sharmin on Sat and she is so adorable. She was wearing a dress from Tonner. My Valencia fits nicely in Teen Trends outfits - even thought he is a boy. I've made some things for him and patterns for MSD size clothing need to be trimed down. There is a dealer on eBay that sells patterns for Sharmin. And I second Jujusdollymall - I've bought items for my Valencia.
Also try: Teen Trends and Friends 2B Made clothing and outfits made for Ellowyne Wilde(?). Some things made for Unoa or Narae/Narin might also fit Sharmin...I know that my Valencia can wear things made for slim girls, and he is nearly the same size as a Shall ...and things that fit Sharmin also fit Shall. I have also bought 16 inch porcelain dolls at antique malls and salvaged the clothing (and stands). You may need to do some seam adjusting. Good luck - and post pictures. I'd love to see your girl. ~Shannon
Sharmin Spamm ! Teddy (Unoa Sist) next to Appolonia my Serendipity Sharmin she's WS LE I just love her delicate features.
Bumping this thread as Sharmin has been re-released by DollnDoll who bought Serendipity's molds! Limiteds for now but will go into general release later http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335678L.
This body looks exactly the same as the ISMY body I have on my girl 9I got one just before they stopped producing them). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this body, personally. It will do just about any pose. It also fits tonner clothes very well, as long as it's not pants, and the sleeves are short. It also fits all the same shoes as my unoa. The feet are kinda long for an MSD, but narrow.
Thank you, Minda, I am waiting for dolldoll Noel with the diamond body and couldn't find info on the body posebility. And info that it can share clothes with tonner dolls is very useful!
It's not the same one as Ismy. It's the same one as 14 year old Freya had. the Ismy body had a jointed torso. It's still a beautiful body and when it came out the joints were revolutionary. I remember it having a good reputation for posing. I would love to get one of those bodies but I can't get a confirmation on resin matching.
This has just about made my day! My Sharmin is nearly five years old, on the old style body, she's yellowed quite a bit and as everyone knows she's impossible to buy clothes for - even the Unoa and Narae clothes hang off her delicate frame. I've been wanting to upgrade her for awhile but I never thought I'd see new Sharmins being made again! In terms of resin matching, my Rhee now is a good match against Volks pureskin UV Protect resin. Her head fits on an SDC Cute girl body, though the neck is a little long and would probably require some sanding down. Also, for clothes, Cheerydoll (Korea / USA) still have some clothes that were made for Sharmin (under the Unoa section). Hopefully with the re-release, people will start sewing for her again.
Does anyone have good ideas for clothing for the serendipity 14 freyja body? My Isolde has been a shoeless kimono-model since she came to me due to the issues of clothing. I dislike sewing for smaller than SD-sized dolls enough that I still haven't picked up needle and thread for her. I love the Her Delicate Strength trousers, but they wouldn't really fit due to the wide waist on the freyja 14 body. I'm not a fan of commissioning work; I'd rather buy something for her that I can be reasonably sure will have an okay fit. Her size is closer to MSD than that of sharmin but still a good deal skinnier and more mature than the average MSD. Also, is there any data on resin matching with the new DollnDoll made serendipity dolls? I'd like a new pair of hands and am concerned about the match.
I have 3 old Sharmin s and have discovered that Robert Tonner Tyler or the Harry Poter dolls clothes fit to a T. Also Helen Kish's Raven or Lark fit well.
There's a thread on matching dollndoll resin somewhere. I know that when I got my dollndoll she didn't match my honey delf, so it wouldn't match luts, leeke or souldoll. I remember customhouse resin matched. I don't think minifee would match, but I'm not sure.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!! This thread and that announcement has made my day. I'm so glad I bothered looking on the DoA forums. I've been panicking for most of last night and up until now about the fact that she's an LE10. I fell in love with her when I first saw the Boding Boding Sharmin on Dollmore's site. Having already given up ever seeing her in person or owning her, I of course freaked and was like "But I'm soo broke!". Knowing that she is coming out in a basic version means I can finally relax and not worry about not being able to buy her right now ^^. I am surprised though that she hasn't been sold out yet :S. It's been over a month o_o.
Hi there people! I have no idea where to put this. It's size specific, it's a sewing question but not. It's really hard to correctly categorize this question. Anyways. I've been making mini outfits and stuff for a 42cm doll but I'm stuck. I need to know the size of these dolls from their hips to their shoulders and the measurement chart doesn't tell me. I've got circumfrences out the wazoo but nothing on "From Hips to Shoulders" and you kinda need that for a shirt or top of a dress pattern, my friends. So anyone with a 42cm that can help me? I have nothing but a big boy and his measurements won't help any.
Hi Limelord, I moved your post to the Sharmin discussion. Maybe someone who owns the doll can help you.
Hi Limelord. I have measured my Serendipty Noel, which I think is the same body as your Sharmin, and have attached the picture below. Hope this helps.
Hello everyone, I am considering ordering a Sharmin from dollndoll since they are having their free shipping event. Can anyone comment on the quality of the resin and the posability? I have only had experience with Volks dolls and I don't even know how long it takes for them to make her for me. Is it 4 weeks or longer? I know that this question is probably for the shipping advice forum... so sorry about that.
