Seraphina

Right now she is just a head. I started on her a couple weeks ago and have just gotten to take pictures a day or so ago. I have made the basic form and worked mostly on her nose and mouth. I'm pleased with her mouth and generally like the line of her cheeks. I have done some more work on her nose since I took this. She needs eyelids still. Her eyes are just holes right now, basic placeholders for the shape and placement. I think I need to Make her forehead more flat at the front and round it off more severely on the sides. I was taking these photos in a bunch of different kinds of light and actually like the first one, the back lit photo, the best as it told me what I needed to alter. I hope you like her so far ) I have been working pretty hard on her off and on over the last week.

Thank you for looking. She is made from LaDoll and Premier. When she is done, she should be right around 63cm or so, give or take a touch. The other Doll that I am working on is much larger and will probably be around 72cm so is much heavier. I really like how different they feel.

 

Hopefully today I will be able to put some eyelids on the poor dear and maybe start on the back of her head, LOL. that's why there aren't any side views, the back is just a bit of slip to hold the skull shape so I can make sure the front stays proportionate. I'm glad that you like how she is coming Glimmer! I really appreciate your support (I'm still suffering from being a nube and feeling unsure about everything).

 

I can't even begin to express how motivational this was. The first thing I wanted to do was give you a HUGE hug! I can't decide if it was that you reaffirmed my thoughts, things I have tried to say to ther artists to motivate them, or because you reminded me of things that have been said to me a hundred times over by my best friend, my mom. Love love love is the beatles song that she used to play for me when I was having a bad day when I was little. Needless to say I took these feelings and thrust them into my little Seraphina and worked on her for a couple hours today. The rest of the time I paced about the house waiting for her to be dry enough to work on some more. I hope you enjoy the result of my efforts!

This page is Seraphina. She is coveted by Methiyus in life and in death. These are sketches that I made of her, all on one page, which I wove a poem through. Sera is sick... Every time Methiyus finds her, he is damned to watch her die... but for that moment that they are together, she is all the light in his world. I was at first terrified to try to sculpt a person that is so meaningful in verse, that I could not put the softness and gentle pain into her features and I did not realize until I had her mouth completed that this sculpt was Sera. Now I have no choice but to finish, no matter how hard it may sometimes seem... I guess I go a long way on a little bit of faith, LOL.

new progress

I have some new pictures of Sera here. I think I got the ear down to my liking now (I still have to do the other side so that it matches) and have her expression so that I am pleased with it. The eyes are matched up now and I like the shape and detail. I also did a bit more work defining her nostrils so that they have a better shape and shadow no matter what light she is in. I still have to make the cap for her head. I don't like the registration that I made and will be doing that over so that it is more like my other head. The Cap on my other head DOES NOT SHIFT at all and with the way that I designed it, there will be no chance of the magnets coming lose. Anyway, here she is:

and more detail of her ear. I'm sorry the shadows are so dark on the shot. there is more detail within the ear that you can't see but you can still get the idea for how it came out :XD

So I hope that you like her now that she is getting so close to completed. She will work on an Resin Soul body until I get my body built. I am working on a small body right now to test joint structures and so forth. I will extend my findings (don't I sound scientific, LOL) to Sera so it should be good... I hope. I know she's not perfect, but she looks the way I meant for her to so I am happy with her.

 

Thank you so much! I have the interior of the other one down and had to stop because I am working with WET LaDoll so it behaves a bit better for me, LOL. I have to wait for it to dry before I can add the lobe on and match them up. I think, my dolls are teaching me to be patient. I have learned that if I rush, I just mess up work I had previously done which is epically counter productive . I was terrified to make the ears, so it really means so much that you like how they came out, CheckeredFoxGlove!

Just another update. here you can see her other ear nearly completed. They match up pretty well. I put her wig on to check and make sure it sat properly and so far... so good on both sides, LOL. I actually have smoothed this down quite a bit now, but the lighting in here is stinky so I thought I would post the last shot I got before it got too dark I know it isn't perfect.

 

another update

So I happened upon a body. It's a fantasy doll body in ivory. I got it specifically for her and it helped out a friend who had ordered it because they were told it was flesh colored and not white. Anyway, after some light mods I thought that I would try her head on a body for the first time. There is still quite a bit to do before I make my junk mold, but I was really happy to see her whole.



I really hope that you can see her potential at least. I really love her.

 

I am working to make it so I can actually seat the head and post more adequate shots of her. I had to hollow out quite a bit to get the head to fit on the normal bodies because my lame tush somehow thought it would miraculously fit with me never trying it at all because I was a magical fairy apparently. I have since built up the interior wall where it was weakest, but I am going to have to restring her so she isn't as tight so the S hook doesn't rip through the LaDoll while I test different positions. I have to test her strung, you know? Right now she has really good mobility and can look WAY up and WAY down with little effort on my part at all as well as cock her head and do all sorts of silly things. Until I get her test strung though, I am afraid that it's false movement. I'll take pictures when I swap bands out with another doll I gave who'e really loose. That way I can test and show you more shots . I have a good many on my flicker of my progress with her here: flickr

so I took some video to show what she can do on a body. I have been sculking about doing a lot of reading about what makes joints work, and I hope I picked something that is both aesthetically pleasing, while also allowing for big movement. It is a hard compromise. Here's a link and please please tell me what you think of how she behaves herself. The body is a fantasy doll body which will soon be ground down to bits and rejointed. If I buy it, it's gonna live with me forever and look like something I want. Right now it is a bit clunkier than I would wish. Here's that link

Methiyus Emerges

OK so this sculpt is very very different. I got very frustrated with her because something wasn't quite right. she sat on a shelf staring at me soullessly for a very long time. She underwent the change from being a normal head to taking a faceplate. Then she finally clicked. I figured out what was wrong. It just isn't Sera. No matter how soft and kind I wished for her to be she became more and more hard the more I worked. It was because Methiyus was emerging. He is not as soft as Sera. He is kind and pure, surely, but there is a fire in him that is quite undeniable. Now I had no idea that was what was happening until one day I had a picture of him pulled up on my pc... and the supposed Sera head on my desk... there it was. As plain as the nose on his face. It was him. Wanne see?



And this is what he looks like so you can see why I say it is Methiyus and most definitely not Sera.



See... not sera at all... I ordered his hair. Ironically I found the perfect thing for her too so they should get hair all at once. they will look just like that last picture... I hope. Their hair will at least. I need to add to his forehead but his face is his face and that is a big step. Yay Methiyus!
