I have a thing for modern furniture and recently asked my parents if they could find someone in the Philippines who could recreate Le Corbusier's LC3 Corbu Grande Chair in MSD size while they were visiting there for a few months. I have always loved this chair and remember sitting in one in my hip Aunt's condo in San Francisco when I was very young. And, while I'll probably never be be able to afford one for myself, now I have one for Sei! Faceup: RAPUNZELKEN Hat/Jacket: Nine 9 Style Jeans: Souldoll Boots: Luts Tee: gift Chair: one-off manufactured in the Philippines, stainless steel frame, faux leather cushions
I absolutely love this design- also one of my favourite chairs too hehe I am so impressed that you managed to get in recreated! Thank you so much for sharing!
SakuraLee: Thank you! He's my first doll and I couldn't be happier with how he looks. Absynthe: Oh cool, another chair fan! I'm glad you like how it turned out... I'm half tempted to make another request the next time my parents head out there, but I'd either need to justify it with another doll or a bigger place to live! (Neither of which are cheap!)
Yeah, my parents are real champs. I've been to the Philippines numerous times already so there's generally nothing I want as a souvenir when they go every year. So, instead, they entertain their crazy daughter's requests for random things that can be made for much cheaper than in the US. (I don't even want to think of how much it would've cost me to make the same chair in San Francisco.)
Wow~www! : That is incredibly awesomely nifty! What a great job they did on that chair. Spot-on! And what a great job you and rapunzelken have done on that Ryu... He's just adorable, even though he has this grown-up gravitas about him. He looks so serious in his little hat.
Thank you for all the compliments, everyone! Sei is my first doll and it's awesome to get feedback from you guys about this new hobby I've dived into. RAPUNZELKEN did an amazing job on him and I couldn't be happier. I liked Ryu's default faceup, but when he came back to me redone by her I totally fell in love. Depending on how I photograph him he can look serious to very childlike (he has teeth! haha).
Thanks again, everyone! Hahaha... cool! I wonder if I could work out a way to get those chairs (or similar modern furniture) produced for sale? I'll have to look into it.
where in the philippines were you able to make a request like that :surprised: plus i am loving that doll and the chair XD
I believe my parents got in contact with a furniture maker out there. I'm not sure who, though. The furniture maker made the frame and I believe they got a separate person to make the cushions.
Yay! I'm glad you posted photos of The Chair! =D It's so neato. Sei is looking good in that outfit and I love how the dark hair works for him in this shoot.
