Sculpts Searching for the right doll for my idea

    1. Hello, everyone. I've had this account for a year but don't think I ever posted before. I've liked BJDs for years but only recently had a solid enough goal to motivate me to actually work on getting the money together to get one. It's a character from my novel series. I've seen a ton of dolls that come...close to what I'm looking for, but never quite right. In particular, the nose is never quite what I'm after. I realized eventually that this would be the right place to see if someone could point be in the right direction.

      I'm looking for a greek god/baroque angel kind of look. See the bridge of the nose? It has me stuck. I find a lot of dolls with the right chin, mouth and eyes, but never that nose. Please let me know if anyone knows where I might find one- especially in a tan color. I'm not particular about size.

    2. If you haven't seen Joydoll's work yet, I recommend them as being heavily inspired by this classical Western look. In particular, I think Angel No.2 and Jacob have the nose and facial structure you're after. Both of them were limited preorders - Angel no.2 is older and may be harder to find, but Jacob recently had a preorder (with tan skin option) and is currently in production. So when he ships, you may be able to find him new from Joydoll and maybe a few dealers, or secondhand.

    5. Seconding Joydoll Jacob. I ordered a Jacob specifically because of the aquiline nose sculpting, as I like prominent noses and rarely see them in dolls!

    6. I love this type of nose bridge! I was thinking maybe Granado has some guys like this, but I don't know what they are currently selling (as I don't collect such large dolls). But maybe look into them?

      Ahaz and JoyDoll (Angel and Jacob) also immediately came to mind - great suggestions.

    7. Nakana Studio and Alice in Labyrinth also make dolls with classic faces, not sure about the aquiline nose, but might be worth looking into.

    8. Looked at Joydoll and oh wow I wish Bust No 2 had an option for a full body...it doesn't look like it does? I don't know how they work but it's just perfect!

    10. Busts don't usually have options for full bodies, no - I'm sorry! But there should be quite a few bodies with a similar look around! Slim male/androgynous bodies are pretty popular.

    12. I'm cursed with liking heads and bodies but rarely both from the same company, so I completely understand the pain of trying to match resin! I hope you'll be able to find the right colors if you do decide to try a hybrid.

    13. Check with dealer Stacy's Pink Ocean! They might have Joydoll in stock under artist dolls, and they carry quite a few smaller artists with different facial features than standard.
