Shopping Searching for long (black) wig longer than 60cm

Feb 19, 2023

    1. Hi everyone! I've been looking for ultra long wigs (basically floor length for SD/60cm dolls) but have not found anything and am a bit despairing... Before I dive into the chaos of trying to make a wig by myself again, I was wondering if anyone here knows a place to find long wigs.

A great example is this wig that Volks put up for treasure auction in Dolpa 48: 【ドルパ48】「ANGEL'S DEPT. お宝オークション」のご紹介!その1 | 株式会社ボークス . They also had a super long wig for Rapunzel, but in yellow.

      Thanks in advance!

    2. I'll be watching this thread! I love long wigs too but haven't really been able to find what I wanted.

What I ended up doing was buying a Dollmore Trinity wig (very long length since it is meant for 105cm dolls) and when I have time I'll cut it up to make a smaller wig for my 57cm doll. Not the easiest solution, but it is something for you to consider if you can't find what you are looking for.

But I hope you will be able to find something!

    3. Honestly eBay.

      Search : 'Ancient BJD Wig'

I have a few really long ones, they look nice too.

    4. These look great, thank you!

I also noticed that I forgot DOA and checked the marketplace here as well. Though there weren't any in the length I wanted, someone had asked a similar question many years ago and was recommended usagihime.com, which have even longer wigs! I like that these are longer than the dolls are tall (according to photos) and will try to buy one of theirs. If it doesn't work, then I'll buy the ones from dollce ^^
(I'm not sure it'll work since for some reason the sign in/register buttons gives a 404 error... I messaged their email now, maybe they can help. Sadly I haven't found any reviews of usagihime yet, do any of you know them?)

Thank you! But the listings I found on ebay never show or specify exactly how long the wigs are and quite a few of those "ancient" style wigs are only so long that they reach the dolls hips or knees... since I want them minimum at floor length, I haven't been successful with ebay

    5. I have one of the Volks wigs and it is extremely nice. Years ago they were available for VS/VIP to order (which is where mine came from) so there are more out there than just the auction wigs.

The Dollce wigs are the closest I’ve been able to find otherwise.

I seem to remember it was possible to get a custom wig from another manufacturer but I don’t remember who and don’t know if it’s still available.

    6. Curious if you were able to find what you're looking for! I'd like something similar but in black.

    7. There are sometimes custom wig makers on Etsy, but I will warn you they make the skincaps only to a certain length so for instance if you ask for a wig that is like 80 cm but the skin cap only has a length of 50cm, they will just send it to you like that with the two different lengths and not tell you lol. It's not terrible but it isn't what I wanted either. Maybe try to ask about it first, I ordered from a Chinese seller so maybe the language gap accounted for the misunderstanding, but it was a bit disappointing.

Also, just to have a little personal rant, you'd think it would be a lot easier to find super long wigs than it is given so many people love the ancient Japanese & Chinese styles or fairytale stuff like Rapunzel. Very annoying actually how hard it is to come by them and by that I mean you just cannot find them at all. Who doesn't want their doll to have long beautiful princess hair, like come on. :P

    8. @QuietYurei - Agreed! Where are all the Rapunzel-loving wig-makers at? X)

I've wanted a down-to-the-heels black wig for one of my 1/3 girls for a while, but haven't seen anything that will work yet. At this point I'm resigned to making it myself (my current plan is to cut up the Trinity wig I bought and patch it together or try making a lace wig by knotting the longer hairs into a cap for a smaller size).

In general, I find wig shopping pretty annoying. So often the quality of the fiber is poor (too shiny, etc.) or the hair too thin (the "scalp" shows) or the color isn't right, and I'm very wary of purchasing expensive mohair/angora wigs (my favorite fiber) that might not fit or suit the doll.

      Oh well!

    9. I was wondering about this too. The more common traditional Japanese style is from the Edo era, and hair wasn't worn super long in that period... That floor-length hair style is typical of the Heian era which is almost a thousand years earlier and not as popular. But in that period Japan was heavily influenced by China, so there must have been something similar going over there. On the Chinese side of things I see (I think) a lot of variety and mix-and-matching from different eras all the way back to the Qin dynasty.
So it's kind of puzzling that super long wigs are not readily available, and that's not even accounting for styling purposes like long braids (I am crazy about long braids). There surely must be some demand for them...

    10. Does Luts still make their DW-24 style? It's a long, straight center-part without bangs that hits about ankle length on 60cm CP/Delf guys. (I have them in Milk for a "matched set" of brothers in my crew-) They would be a bit longer on shorter 1/3 girls.

Dollshe used to have a similar straight, longer style with a zigzag part that was about that length as well. Keep an eye on the marketplace for one of those... Cancan made a super-long style with bangs once-upon-a-time, too. I had them do a custom one in indigo for one of my girls (Kareyeru, who's a 57cm CP/Delf Miyu), and it's right at floor length. I don't know if Cancan is still in business or not, but it's another name to do marketplace searches for.

    11. I wanted to make a mistress 9 style wig for one of my dolls and had difficulty finding a really long wig ready made.

I did my own by buying an SD wig that had a style I already liked, and then a human sized wig in the length and color I wanted. I cut out the wefts from the human sized wig and sewed it between the wefts on the doll's wig, like extensions. I put it in the back, and on the lower sides so the wefts wouldnt disturb the top part of the SD wig.
