Hello everyone. I know these have been asked many times but I haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I want to know where to buy: Elastic for a 70cm SD, Mr Super Clear/Testor's Dullcoat/Purity Seal or any other safe sealant (ironically the only one for sale in my whole town is Krylon) Good cheap pastels (I bought mine for about 15€ but they won't stick properly, I heard there are the Mungyo ones for 5$ way better--- but the shipping is a killer...) Fake Fur Now why can't I find them? Main problem is the shipping. First reason for most of those is, I live in Portugal so most places won't ship sealants here and those that do, charge over 20€ for a single item. This goes for the other items too. Not only can't I find them in my town, shipping is a killer for their prices. Then there's fake fur. That website with the free samples won't ship outside of USA and I can only buy fur locally in september (or so I've been told by the only store in town that has even seen the sort of material.) So basically I'm looking for places online that may have what I need with a not so high shipping fee. Something that won't offer ems or the sort as the only option, would be ideal. Thank you, Ana.
Ana! That's my name too. XD So, I can help with the sealant, since we have the same problem of stores not shipping to outseas. I have bought once from PlaJapan, here's the link for Mr. Super Clear UV Cut - http://www.plajapan.com/product_info.php?products_id=2061 And I also bought with a friend from an E-bay seller last year. The seller is no longer registered on e-bay, but I'm sure there's another one if you look for Mister Super Clear.^^ They ship to outseas, however it will take some weeks for it to arrive because they have to go by seamail or other methods...but they DO send the sprays.^^ About the pastels, have you tried on local art supplies stores? Even here in Brazil I have found in my city but they were expensive...I'm sure in Europe they're a lot cheaper...
for the elastic you could try here http://www.gildebrief.de/SF7/contents/en-us/d535.html#p714 this site sells things for porcelain dolls, but the composition bodies are strung just like bjds. they are in germany so shipping should be ok
I was able to find one store selling pretty cheap MSC on ebay =D So thanks Kawaiicloud! As for pastels, mine are low quality bought at an art store and still cost 15€ I would prefer to spend around that much or less for good pastels. I don't even mean professional good. Just something workable. @Kez That website has a minimum order of 20€ D: Thanks anyway thought!
http://www.triskelfantasy.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=160 I imagine they ship to Portugal. probably for a reasonable fee. They do string and MSC. http://shop.fashiondoll.nl/ Also in EU, and they do MSC, Mungyo and Elastic
Thank you! Man how could I forget about think pink for this >.<; Though, one question on advise now, they only have 3.5mm elastic as the thickest, will that be good enough for a 70cm? Thank you =D
I'd look for somewhere that does 4mm or 5mm. See if anyone in the EU is doing a DOLLMORE GO, or IH GO. Or, if you look on eBay for CoolCat , they do string too. ^^;
I found Coolcat, for some reason it's actually on my fav sellers but while looking at their store today I noticed they only ship to usa now D: I will have to look into Go's, thanks for the suggestion
For the fake (or sometimes real) fur, have you tried second hand, or thrift shops? (I think overseas they call them charity, or something else I can't remember 'cause of the darn fibro). Anyway, places that sell used, overstock and unwanted items? Also try department stores for the off-season clearance rack. As a friend of mine once observed, "Do you know how many doll dresses I can get out of ONE human sized party dress?" May be late in the season to find winter items, but you never know, what's left may be very discounted - and you don't have to worry about finding your size, since you're going to remake it anyway!
Unfortunately on my country (or at least on my town) there isn't a single charity store or anything of the kind. For used clothes people either donate to institutions or leave them in plastic bags outside of the trash "cans" for people who want it to pick it up or something like that :/ Charity stores would be so awesome, I loved them to bits when I went to England.. As for clearance sales, yeah from day one I got my first dolls I've been looking into those, bought some nice materials that way but never anything that would work for wigs (the main thing I need D: ) All of this because the weather in my country is so "nice" that "fur" is rarely if ever used on clothes D: Closest thing I've found was on a toy store, some puppets made of low quality fake fur :/ It's very short though and it only had Orange/white Blue/white and Pink/white. I really live in an unlucky zone for this hobby me thinks D:
