::SD SIZE BJD by D.H Studio:: (test stringing pg.9)

Jun 21, 2008

    1. You are an amazingly talented person! I'd love to try this someday--I even have all the materials--but I am a little intimidated by the process. I can't wait to see more!

    2. Thanks!! you can try making tinys.
      after i get this SD size done, i'll make tiny.
      just to refresh my mood. :)

      yes, it's just to prevent cloth to get caught in the middle.
      but like phoenix said, it need a lot more work to make it better.
      i'll make it like "elbow bone"? (i don't know what to call it in english)
      and working on the arm anatomy.

    3. TT A TT u're great~~ the arms are doing great and double joints <333! i hope i can be as good as you...>o<

      u and aramaki rocks..XD

    4. after much struggle with the arm joint, i finaly satisfied with the double joint!!
      it takes me a week to finish just the joint....
      please give me comment and especialy critics (oh i love critics... seriously)

      [IMG]

    5. Wow, your joints are superb. It'd be easy to assume that you've been trained in how to make bjds. You really are very talented.

    6. thanks!!
      jointing is the worse part of making BJDs, so glad i've been through it.

      but i'm just a newbie in BJD world :)
      i don't even have my own BJD,
      so i don't have any reference...

      someday when i've earn enough money (from selling my own BJD line :P),
      i'll buy "real" BJD for my girl, haha.. (i'm so cheap..)

    7. wow~ u don't have reference and yet u are doing so well.. *_*
      I do have reference and yet the head i'm doing now is so...o_o not...very nice looking..lol

    8. Hi Donny,
      You did a wonderful job. Deepest compliments from a fellow "Indo" guy, my parents are both from Jakarta, Java. Myself I am born in the Netherlands but do speak a little bit bahasa. Furthermore I'm an artist too and I'm the creator/designer of Alice Cherry Blossom, joint project with Elf Doll Inc / Korea. Keep up the wonderful work!
      Charles Stephan

    9. Those joints look really nice Donny! Keep up the awesome work!:D

    10. Will you be eventually closing off that gap between the upper and lower arm? I don't think leaving it open like that is very suitable for a doll like this, maybe for a carved wooden one. Although it definitely guarantees that clothes won't get caught.

    11. Woooow I wish I could do stuff like that. Your talent is amaaazing! :D

    12. Wow, I simply love the progress pictures. I'll be watching this thread diligently!

    13. @for all
      thanks for the great comments
      keep watching for updates ok?

      @C-Man
      wow.. i wish someday i have opportunities like you,
      working as a profesional sculptor in a great company..
      i've seen your work on the artmaze web,
      you're amazing, i love your character design.

      @phoenix
      Hi supporter! thanks a lot.

      @obbesekitten
      which gap? the open elbow joint?
      umm.. i'll try to fix it, to make it not to "visible".
      but i found out that it's the best way to have a flexible and stable joint.
      the new fairyland Minifee used similar elbow joint.

      do you have any idea about the elbow joint? maybe a reference?
      i would apppppreciate that.

    14. I'm sure one day soon you will Donny!
      And thanks for loving my character design ;)
      Sampai berjumpa pula ^^

    15. amen..
      someday when i can afford it, i'll definetly gonna buy your piggy characters.
      sampai jumpa :)

    16. :) That day will be soon too, I'm sure of it!
      Thank you and talk later ^^

    17. You know, right after I made a post here I saw another doll somewhere with a similar joint as yours. I can't remember where or who it was but it was a guy covered in tattoos. The joint part actually looks really awesome when it's contrasted with the arm like in your prototype right now and that guy with the tats. But your joint still looks weird to me even though I can't figure out what's wrong with it. I got a feeling it's the way there's a very smooth dip between the big and small.. joint-y part? Here. Again, I can't tell you why the dip bothers me and probably ONLY me, but I feel that the flow of the nice lines you've got is interrupted by another set of curves tucked in the arm parts. I think I'm being too picky and that dip most likely won't be as noticeable after it's casted in resin.

    18. thank you very much to point that out.
      coz from my point of view i can't see the flaws like people did.
      maybe it's because i see it everyday.
      that's why i need you all to help me.

      i'll try to fix the joint,
      and maybe the color difference make it weird and point out the gap?
      that's not picky, let us call it perfectionist and that's a good thing.

      thanks obesekittens

      @c-man
      thanks charles

    19. *squeals* i love her body and her legs! i cant wait for you to start selling her i'll start saving up now <3

    20. @firefaux
      wow thanks,i'll PM you when it's ready.

    21. Your sculpting skills are incredible :)

    22. Amazing! I can't wait to see a face, her legs and arms already have me loving her.

    23. here comes the fun stuff, Body and face sculpting!!

      this some more intresting new progress pic.
      i try to give the magnetic face plate system,
      so we can change the face often and easily.

      the body, face, and hands are still in a rough sculpt.

      [IMG]

    24. It's looking good Donny. Are you going to do a mature or immature bust?

      I can't wait to see what her face looks like finished!

    25. =D

      Magnetic face plate? Meaning the face will come off instead of the back of the head? Very excited!

    26. magnetic face plates are love! :D I can't wait to see the face and the hands look good for being rough.

    27. I believe in you Donny! You keep up the great work! Its nice to see that your refining the doll joints the way you are, and keeping us posted on how it goes! I like the ideas!

    28. @phoenix
      thanks, i'll give it mature bust.
      but in the future i want to give it some other optional bust part,
      so everyone can choose it freely.

      @obesekitten
      @urushi-kitty
      thanks.
      i'm exited too, i think magnetic face plate is a nice feature to add.
      but i'm still waiting for my neodyum magnet (it should be here next week).

    29. @soshi
      thanks, i hope you'll like the final doll.

    30. hi here's another progress.
      the sleepy face WIP (i'll make mold out of it and then i modif it to make the normal face)
      it's not finished yet. there many things to be fix.

      [IMG]

      i'm not satisfied with the face,
      i'll have to fix many things until i get what i like.
      please post a critique or comments,
      coz i really2 need your help :)

    31. Here are some tips to help you with the face. The cheeks have to blend in with the nose bridge, so you have to add some clay there, this way the face will look much better. Then you have to add clay to make the eyebrows. There's not enough clay there. I made a picture that might help with this, so you can see what I mean, it's not easy to explain this.
      [IMG]

    32. maybe this picture can help too, this was a work in progress of a face, on one side you can see the clay I'm adding on the cheek and how it goes onto the nose, you can also see how I create the eyebrow and look at the shape of the piece of clay to create the eyebrow. You also might want to widen the bottom of the nose a little bit, by adding nostrils.
      [IMG]

    33. wow, I'm amazed by your sculpting skills! wonderful work. I love what I've seen so far!!

    34. Keep going on the face. The nose looks too narrow to me. Perhaps also adding some more definition to the cheeks so the face doesn't look so round. Don't give up Donny! She'll be great when you're done tweaking her!

    35. I'm not a sculptor so I can't help much...but I do think the face is kinda cute! ^////^ but your the artist so you need to be satisfied with it. Though I love sleepy headed bjds!

    36. wow you're so talented!

    37. hi, thank you very much for the advice!!! :)
      i've re-done the face, it's looks better now. (but it just a common beauty..)
      i'm aiming for a doll face that have special charisma,
      not just beautiful or cute (i'm still playing arround with the face sculpt to achive that..)

      i adore dollmore face sculpt, it seems like every face have soul and personality.
      i hope i can get my doll face like that.
      wish me luck, i'll post the update as soon as possible

    38. just lovely. could you post more pics of the face? he is very serene looking.

    39. HOHOHO.. finaly i can get her face on the right track.
      here's a sneak peek of my revised head.
      she's not ready for more pic, cos i need to fix (again...) some details.
      enjoy..

      @phoenix
      thanks for your support, i'll post more pics tomorow :)

      @firefaux
      yes! i like unoa too. it will have many face plates that fit.
      with magnetic face plate you don't have to buy whole head,
      just the face plate so it can be cheaper.
      stick arround for future update ok?

    51. She looks quite asian while still having that cute look about her. (Most dolls that look more asian then others are actually scary looking imo) Which is a very good thing. Keep it up!
