Hello! For those of you who have big girls and male doll clothes, I would like to see if there are certain boy fits or sizes that can look good on them as I'm trying to get a gender-neutral style on my girl. Bottoms are probably very tricky concerning wide hips, but I think certain loose or slightly unbuttoned tops might work. For reference, my girl is 65 cm tall and has a 32 cm bust, 20 cm waist, and 33 cm hips. She is a SartoriaJ doll who is a close match to Iplehouse's EID woman.
I have both, my impldoll muscle body is actually temporarily wearing some stretchy 70cm male leggings until I finish her kimono (so the forseeable future ) They fit better than I was expecting, a little wrinkly at the bottom so I put some boots on to cover it up and no one's the wiser. I actually love sartoria j's clothes quality as well if that helps too. If you roll up the sleeves I think it could be possible for her to fit in 70cm dress shirts as well.
I had considered this but then I remembered SJ's men have big hulking shoulders unless it's possible to rock a sort of off-shoulders bf shirt look I am, however, curious if SJ ladies can put on their men's pants considering their hips are 33 cm on paper. Preferably, I'd like to know if popular "standard" sizes like SD17 would be okay -- would love to get some print shirts of varying colours and patterns for example.
I don't own Iplehouse or SarJ dolls, but I have a 2DDoll 68cm girl (hybrid) who has similar dimensions to EID Woman. Measurements for comparison: My 2D68 girl has 31cm bust, 21.5cm waist, 33cm hips, and 20cm thigh circumference. My 68cm boy has 28cm chest, 21.5cm waist, 27cm hips, and 17cm thigh circumference. He fits Popo68 which is the 68boy standard. A typical 65cm boy (Volks SD17) is about 1cm smaller in all those 68boy dimensions. 65-68cm male tops are mostly fine - they will fit her shoulders and arms, and best if they're roomy or made of stretchy material to accommodate her bust. I generally assume that my girl can wear the shirts I buy for my 65-68cm boys. I just tried a button-down dress shirt (fits both SD17 and Popo68) on her: the buttons do up in the front, but only just - her bust makes them strain quite a bit But it is a form-fitting garment, looser garments like tees and sweaters are fine. 65-68cm male pants are generally no-go because of hip circumference - 33cm vs 27cm is a huge difference. I wouldn't risk buying pants unless at least 2 of these 3 factors check out: (a) the design is baggy or loose-fit, (b) there's an elastic waistband or a fly that can open up wide enough to go over the hips, (c) the material is stretchy - non-stretchy material means the garment will simply not contain enough fabric to accommodate her greater surface area of hips and thighs. Below is the only 65-68cm male pants I own that fit my girl -- the material isn't stretchy, but it's a wide-leg cut and there's enough elastic waistband and fabric around the waist to fit over my girls' hips. Product page from LUTS - it's sold out, but Bears is a Chinese BJD brand, Alice's Collections might sell their stuff including these pants. You could try pants for larger males, such as 70-73cm boys - they may have a waist circumference that's large enough to go over your girl's hips. But you will then run into other issues such as too-long legs, and taking in a very large waist, though you could pin the waist and simply not take photos from behind. It's still a risk though. My girl has both big hips and very large thighs, she pretty much needs custom-made pants.
I will second this. I have a male that is roughly the equivalent of 70-73cm and he barely fit into an SD17 pants (and those might be looser than normal). He has a 28cm hip measurement and I don't remember if I could fasten the top of the pants. And, my 75cm Dollzone guy is just under 33cm, as a hip measurement. Overall, the Dollzone sculpt could have complications with ID75 clothing and I do not have any manufactured clothing for him, yet. Spoiler: temp upload, the picture is probably not useful information involving SD17 pants I want to get a tall gal in the future.
@aihre @tinyflame Thank you so much for the info, it's exactly what I needed to know! I will take a chance at purchasing a couple of shirts and search custom for pants (since I cannot gauge stretchiness of materials or presence of elastic waistbands based off pictures alone). Also, comparing my doll's measurements to the 2D68, their lower halves are very close -- the waist and pants length differ by about a centimeter. I will note however, the 2D68 has a longer torso than my doll. As big girls continue to grow in popularity in the Chinese market, I'm looking forward to buying more from from 2DDoll and Impldoll sizes as close equivalents and hoping Iplehouse sizes continue to be made. So to conclude: SD17 and POPO68 (65-68 cm) shirts are possible, stretchy fabrics or loose fits preferable for large busts Custom pants are the way to go: 65-68 cm no unless wide-cut and stretchy; 70+ sizing too long and too much waist gap
Yep, Chinese dollmakers are now making more 68-70cm girls, and we've recently seen a spate of releases for curvier or "softer" 70cm girls. Asleep Eidolon recently made 70cm Rou Mian girl who has chest/waist/hip about the same size as 2D68girl, if not a little bigger. It might take a while for clothing service to catch up -- Chinese tailors have to develop the designs first -- but I'm personally hopeful that there will be more clothes for these fuller-figured girls, including pants and more gender-neutral wear. Some Chinese tailors still make clothing sized to EID Woman, but not many nowadays - their domestic models are becoming more popular. You may have more luck looking at Western tailors for specifically EID Woman sizes. One more thing - if you want to chance 70cm+ male bottoms, you could try shorts - that way you wouldn't have to worry about length and only deal with pinning back a too-large waistband. But do compare the waist circumferences, and it's at your own risk!
Oh, the Rou Mian body is absolutely beautiful! I knew about Dollzone's 70 girl being one of the more popular big girl sizes right now and I was worried the girls were only getting taller, not necessarily fuller-bodied. Happy to be proven wrong! I can see that this is the obvious evolution for female dolls as their average male doll counterparts more often than not start at 75 cm these days. Now if I were to get a 70 cm girl, I would surely regret passing on Devotion Doll's 75 cm muscle girl body. Probably by next year, there will be an abundance of clothing choices for my girls
I've ventured into boy sizes for my DT18 girls and it's been okay so far. I've had to pick "strong 70cm" for cargos, because other pants at regular uncle size fit too tight at the hips/crotch and limited leg movement. Mind that I went with stretchy fabrics whenever possible. Shirts for SD17 and 68cm boys fit them but tops have been the most troublesome bit so far. Shoes for 70cm boys are perfect (9cm feet) I feel pretty confident about shopping for boy shoes as long as I check the inner measurements. Note that DT18 is no longer that big among 1/3 girls, and many newer bodies released lately are much thicker so it's very likely that boys clothes wouldn't work at all on them.
