Hello dolly people! This is Nabby. Notes: This doll was made in 4 days (including paint job and zombie dress) for an illustration project at uni. She's from the HP Lovecraft short story "The Colour Out of Space". In the story, a meteor lands outside Arkham which contains alien properties which appear as a colour outside of our known visual spectrum; everything around the farm it crashed near tends to grow at an unnatural speed, but in return tastes rotten and soon after turns into grey ashes which they call "the grey and brittle death". The farmers wife Nabby can't be taken out in public anymore because she keeps telling people the trees are moving and glowing at night so they lock her in the attic where she's fed, but left victim to the "colour". Fingers were sculpted to be mangled with chunks missing but parts fell off in transportation. I didn't mind this so I kept it that way. Not very professional ^^; Also, I made her a scale attic bedroom for the project with little plates of "mums not home food" like toast and beans, toast and eggs, toast and sausage, toast and mushrooms... That's in class right now so I couldn't take pictures. My research for her was looking at radiation victims where the features were melded together, sometimes looking blobby, or things grew at uneven speeds so some of her is lumpy, withered, rotted away, blistered ect. Also mummies, holocaust victims, bog people... So don't throw rocks at me 'cause she's wobbly! :XD Hope you like her :3
Thats soo freakin awesome!! Her face is unbeleivable, and you did this in 4 days!?!? Insane, good job.
Ibrev: Thanks! Can't wait to see more of your dollies. Hemre: I used LaDoll and primed her with Liquitex gesso. Her torso is part DAS because I ran out of LaDoll. Weird discovery - those two clays do not mix >.> turns to lumps for some reason.
Cureilona: I do indeed. Sadly, not a huge dolly collector community here, let alone a doll-makers. Love your dollies btw, we ought to chat sometime ^^
4 days?!?! So quickly sculp! Your doll work is unique and interesting which I've never seen. I love her so much.^_^
Show picture with the background you made if you get a chance. I really want to see. The doll is so fabulous. I definitely could not sleep with her in the room.
Aw thanks everyone! I haven't been on since before the Xmas holidays! I forgot anyone cared, haha! Unfortunately I threw the background away and it's not available anymore. I've been planning an MSD scale room for my mnf which will fit her do I'll show that when I get the chance. Also, I'm being asked by the same people to make a Minotaur for an animation like No-Head was built for. This should be buckets of fun.
