Scammer Alert: ShowaDreamer/Hanakyukyu -- Baraneko

Nov 24, 2013

    1. Scammer Alert

We recently banned user ShowaDreamer for engaging in fraudulent trades and sales of dolls, including both resin dolls and Volks DDs. Dolls were sent to him (or her) but he didn't send his half of the trade. He sold or tried to sell the same doll to more than one person. He tried to sell a Souldoll Lester that may not even exist, as he offered photos to two different people that were actually heavily tweaked versions of both company photos and pilfered third-party owner photos. He actively tries to get DOA members to switch to emails for negotiations, and to make personal-type Paypal payments rather than purchase-type payments.

He has shut down his phone number (which tracked to PA) and the email address via which people were contacting him, but has been turning up on DOA in the middle of the night, the last time on 10/26/13, although he has not posted into the Problem Transactions thread about him since 10/10.

Some of the online handles and email addresses that he uses or has used in the past are:
      ShowaDreamer
      Hanakyukyu

      [email protected]
      [email protected]
      [email protected]

He is located in Stone Mountain, GA, but was in Chicago when he joined DOA. He has claimed to be moving to Missouri. According to profiles on other sites, he has gone under such names as Eli/Elijah Morris or Norris or Eli Tanakashi, and another relative may be signing for packages, as the shipping address often is addressed to a first-initial "K." His birthdate is given variously as 10/20/85, 4/10/84, 5/10/93, 9/10/86

He has purged his DeviantArt account of all doll-related posts, but Google links still exist for doll match-ups to a member named ArashiMahou. Whether his or not, a tumblr account also exists for that name.

We don't normally post information related to Marketplace issues, but we are concerned that this individual intends to systematically scam our community. We have banned his account and the second DOA account he attempted to create. Therefore, we are concerned that he may try again and slip past, so we would like everyone to be careful in the Marketplace and help us to catch him if he manages to register a new account.

      Thank you for reading!

10/26/14 UPDATE: We have discovered that ShowDreamer, et al., is either a family member to - or IS - reputedly deceased problem-transaction member Baraneko. They share the same birthdate of 10/20/85, and Baraneko's RL name is Kimberly Norris. There was a delay in discovering this connection, as the report of Kimberly's demise pre-dated ShowaDreamer starting up MP transgressions. Note that there seems to be cross-referable current or recent activity under the email addy of tsukirocketto @ hotmail by Kimberly Norris/David Norris, with an apparent current address in southern Florida.

    2. Absolutely unbelievable. What he is doing is quite sickening and to know he is still trying is just disguising.
      Thanks for letting us know.

    3. Wonder if they are on ebay looking for dolls to buy as well......yikes!

    4. Has anyone been scammed/robbed by him? D: If yes, and the shipping address still valid, maybe the police or a member of DoA can check? >.> I'm glad I didn't do any trades with him... was tempted, nonetheless. *phew*

    5. Yes, sadly, quite a few people including (potentially) a friend of mine. She was asking me if I thought the "too good to be true" trade was legitimate when a search of the forum revealed showadreamer had at least 2 problem transaction threads already open. The threads were merged and the resulting actions people have taken can be found here. For what it's worth, I applaud DoA's mod squad for their decision to share this individual's information.

I also wanted to add for the people who have been scammed that so many of us in the community feel for your loss and armed with this info we're keeping our eyes peeled for this individual.

    6. Check the first post for a link found between this member and another problematic, presumed deceased, member.
