3. So excited for this! I've already reserved a room from the block for this event. Then I'll purchase my full membership once I get paid again. This is going to be my birthday celebration weekend hehe [emoji92] [emoji178] [emoji92]

4. Oh man, roaring 20s. I gotta go! My fav time period.

5. Maybe I'll have a chance to go down. If my aunt and uncle allow me to stay at their place, I might be able to make it.

6. Wow. Very exciting! I've marked the days down on my calendar. Since it will be a 2-day event this year, maybe I'll have time to do other things besides shopping the whole time! Lol.

7. Looking forward to this. Love the theme. I've had plans for this for a while, so I hope I can get started on costumes soon!

8. I'm not going to have anything in the costume contest again this year--but I have several of those DollHeart outfits! Time to get those out and get the right shoes and wigs together! (yay! I can justify those purchases!!!) :D

9. I'm looking forward to this already. It'll be so nice seeing so many different dolls from different companies. I'm going to the LA Dolpa too, but with the bjd con I'll be able to hopefully see some of my favorite sculpts in person.

Have y'all thought about which dolls y'all are taking with you?

10. No thoughts at all. I have mostly Sooms, Luts and volks dolls. Probably you should post who you are hoping to see and see if anyone has that sculpt!

11. Yeah, I'm open to requests! I'm driving distance, so I can haul some extra dolls along if anyone wants to see anything in particular. (Click on "MY BJDs" in my signature to see what dolls I have... some aren't listed on my DoA profile.)

But my human girls (for wearing the DH 20s outfits) are just CP/Luts and Volks...

12. elf-ears That's a good idea. :)

aprilWell, if you're taking requests, I'd love to see your Soom Sard or IOS Blood. I know they're big guys, so if you bring any of your little ones I'd be just as happy to see them too. :)

I've have dolls from a few different companies, but I was mostly a Luts addict when I was collecting before my hiatus.

If they arrive by November I'll probably bring my April Story Fall & Ishyllia or Lillycat Ellana(if she ships fast enough after I pay her off.)

13. Senko -- I'll try and keep your request in mind. It shouldn't be a problem to bring one or both, but I'll have to wait and see what fits in the car, and who else I'm bringing! Good luck in getting your Lillycat Ellana.

14. Senko, I will defiantly be bringing my NS Sard, as he will be part of the costume contest.

I had original plans for the costume contest, but then my friend brought something else up. Now I'm torn between two ideas! I may go with my friend's suggestion and then just have my dolls wear what I was going to originally make them on Sunday.

15. Oh, good that you're bringing your Sard, ShinigamiDuoLover! I couldn't think of anything to dress my Sard in that was even close to the theme! (especially since I'm so lazy about making costumes).

16. Hotel Information

If you are planning on staying at the host hotel, the Handlery, please make your reservations before October 21, 2015. You can reserve by going to http://sd.handlery.com and using the promo code, "SDBJDC". The prices are $99 single or double, $109 triple, and $119 quad. You can also call the Group Reservations Department at 619-298-0511 or 800-676-6567 and refer to the group name of "BJD Con 2015".

The prices are good for several days before and after the con, so you can use it as an excuse to come on down and do the San Diego scene! :dance

17. Anyone want to share a room? PM me. <<< Hold that thought! Considering Options. >>>

...I'll be rooming with someone on Saturday!

I had the room for Sunday, too, but might change that...

18. I am bringing the world, as usual. :D

19. Well at this rate I may still be in Cali by the time this thing rolls around!!

20. Still need to buy my Early Bird membership, but will definitely purchase before the deadline. I'm so looking forward to this and I'm trying to get some other friends to join in ;-)

21. Chehime-- 'hope you can make it down for this!

Innocentsake-- Great that you're coming. Hopefully others will come along, too. This con is always fun. It'll be interesting seeing what it will be like over 2 days. I was getting to think that I wouldn't mind more time to shop and to do all the contests and panels... and also have more time to take photos in all the sets... it always seemed like I had to rush before... But then, I think that's true of all cons, whether one day or more... Never seems to be enough time!

22. I will be attending this for the first Time! super excited :-) loved dolls for a long time but I finally got One! and also new to the SD area. (sorry for the mistakes, typing on a tablet)

23. Yaaaay! More the merrier! It will be fantastic!

Just was at the Volks L.A. Dolpa and am all psyched up for the SD BJD Con!!! It was great to see everyone there!!!!

24. Really glad I waited on buying my membership. Bruce was very nice and offered a special price for those of us who were attending the LA Dolpa yesterday. Now I'm all paid up and ready for November!

26. Yay my first Bjd convention! I'm so very excited for this! <3

27. Welcome aboard, Walkergirl! I'm sure you'll have a great time!

28. :D Another reminder! Only one week left for the early bird price of $75 for two days of con! Includes gift bag, dinner on Saturday, tea on Sunday, costume contest entry, dealer's room, and complementary parking! After September 30th the price goes to $90.

31. San Diego is such a great place to be a tourist! And we have fabric stores that may have fabrics you haven't seen yet. Rosie's comes to mind.

32. April posted on the first page that she is considering it.

Also, for anyone who isn't sure that they want to come, I can assure you that this is a quality event. There are a bunch of vendors. The sets are always spectacular. The costume contest is great fun, with fantastic outfits. Bruce and his busy crew always put on a terrific show.

33. Thank you! And I'm excited!! I've been a lurker in the community for a long time and finally became an owner! But I also just moved to Socal from the East coast so I don't know anyone here! I'm looking forward to meeting some new people and dolls! :)

I did message April but in case anyone else is interested, PM me :)

35. Thank you so much for your praise Derbydoll! :love We certainly try our best!

36. San Diego area :)

37. Hi, minuberry! I PM'd you. But I had someone ask to room with me on Saturday, already.

I hope you find someone! Hopefully there will be some people who might want to save themselves a drive back and forth! I'm coming from OC, so it's worth it to save on the drive, even though it isn't THAT far away...

38. We have quite a lively community here. Maybe we should have some buttons made with our DOA names and real names so we can introduce ourselves at the SD BJD con. Anyone have button-making access?

39. There are a few people who do, but I can't recall who off-hand! I actually went online and there are a few companies who will make a single button for a reasonable price! Also, in the Volks Dolpa thread, someone posted a template that can be put in a standard badge-holder...

But it's a great idea! I've my badge and a button made for the L.A. Dolpa, so I'm set. A ton of people told me there that they MEANT to do that, but didn't... so it's good to post a reminder like this, but it might not work!

It's also possible to write DoA User names on con badges... I'm not sure if it's possible for the badges that will be used this time, but maybe???

41. Just a reminder there is only one week left to reserve your room at convention block special pricing!
You need to make your reservations before October 21, 2015. You can reserve by going to http://sd.handlery.com and using the promo code, "SDBJDC". The prices are $99 single or double, $109 triple, and $119 quad. 42. I got my tickets for this event last month! I'm really excited! I hope I can find some new accessories for my girls. :XD:

43. I need to start sewing my boys' costumes.

44. I heard there might need to be a cut-off date for Full Memberships because you need to know numbers for the Banquet??? True? Not True? If so, WHEN?

I have my membership... just being curious!
------------

Got to get some outfits together... I'm always so last-minute!!!

45. Can tickets be purchased at the door? Does the official website list dealers?

46. My boyfriend and myself purchased a one day pass when they were 50 dollars each and we have yet to receive a confirmation e mail. Is that normal?

47. Hi! I sent you a PM.

48. We will have a "Dealer's Room Only" entrance price of $20 for the day, or $30 for both days, but it will NOT include the Saturday Dinner Buffet or the Sunday Tea, and you won't be able to enter the doll costume contest. We can't offer the dinner and tea the day of as the hotel requires final numbers 3 days beforehand.

49. So... the Full Memberships have a cut-off of... [exact date/time]...???? (Just to put it out there for those who procrastinate or think they might get it at the door.)

50. Full Membership ticket purchase closes on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at midnight PDT.

(Thanks April for keeping me on my toes! :dance)

51. I'm really excited and anxious about this event! This will be my first year with a doll and my first year attending. I'm kind of nervous because I'm going alone and I'm not really sure what to expect. I have lived and San Diego my whole life and I didn't even know this was a thing until I went to the BJD Panel at Comic Con this year. Hope I'll be able to meet some doll people from my area!

52. bellabellababy -- There should be tons of San Diegans there. Hopefully you'll meet a bunch from your area.

I'm coming down from Orange County, so not quite in your area. There should be a fair amount of folks from around here, too, since it's the biggest BJD con in So. Cal.

Don't worry about coming alone. There's lots to do and people are friendly. I usually run down on my own, although I know lots of people there... Hopefully you'll sit near people or something and get to know them.

I'll be staying in the hotel if people want to get together after hours... (although I'm not as much a late-owl as I used to be).

---------

Bruce-- Remember to post the deadlines in the NEWS thread, too. And I was with Annette all weekend so was getting whatever news she had about the con... :)

53. Added to the news thread. Thanks April!

54. It's not my first time, but I didn't go last year. I am also gonna be alone. x_x I want to chitchat people before going because nothing makes me nervous like just picking some random person in the crowd and just talking to them. It's easier online, isn't it? I'm also from San Diego.

Haven't done that many doll outings lately, but since this year's theme is 1920s, I have to do it. haha I need to actually finish Thomas's Downton Abbey outfit. My Dollshe David can be Leyendecker Man

55. Oh Ill send you a PM so we can chat a little, maybe we wont have to go completely alone!

Is the membership info updated on the website? Just wondering! :D

Also-- the $30 at the door... that means 2 days entrance to the Dealer's room, right? It wasn't quite clear.

Also-- not sure your link in your signature is working correctly...

------------
MEMBERSHIP NEWS from the NEWS section of DoA:

On the day of the con at the door we will have a "Dealer's Room Only" entrance price of $20 for the day, or $30 for those people who haven't gotten a membership, but it will NOT include the Saturday Dinner Buffet NOR the Sunday Tea, and you WON'T be able to enter the doll costume contest.
Therefore, Full Membership ticket purchase closes on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at midnight PDT.

58. What are the rules for the costume contest? Are they posted somewhere and I'm just not finding them?

59. All Full and Saturday Members will be able to enter as well as vote on the Doll Costume contest. The winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) will be determined by ballot and announced at the dinner. Any BJD doll(s) may be entered into the contest, with one entry per person (so one person could enter 3 dolls as one entry, but not the 3 dolls as 3 separate entries). The doll and accessories can be whatever you have put together or bought. Popular vote will determine how best it fits the 1920s theme. A 4th prize will also be given out called the "Director's Choice" chosen by the staff.
