San Diego Ball-Jointed Doll Con 2021

I've never been to one but planning on going!

 

I'll be there with the LA group and will be driving. I live about 5 hours north so it'll be a fun trip. Went to the 2019 one and had a lot of fun. It's a small-ish con but there's a lot of dolls!

 

I've never been, but now that I'm in LA, I might if I can find other people to go with me!

It is a small cozy convention. I always love looking at the costume contest entries.

Not sure what I want to sew for the mardi gras theme

I am tabling for the first time this year.

 

I will be attending! Very excited as this will be my first bjd convention

 

I'd love to attend if I wasn't on the east coast. I notice almost all bjd cons are there. And for $20 that's such a nice fee. I hope people post photos!

If I have the courage, I will be attending. Is it safe to display dolls at the convention? I have read on here about thefts and such. I so want to bring at least one of my dolls with me, but I am afraid…

There's large tables for everyone to sit at and people display their dolls on their tables. There's also a display area setup to take your dolls for photos (but you can't leave them there). And then there's an area to display doll's that are entered in the contest along a wall. If you're worried about leaving your doll(s) unattended, either you can have a friend there who can watch them while you explore or you can carry your doll(s) around with you. This isn't a super big con and those who don't have a ticket aren't just going to wander in (though there may be other events there that day, the complex has mutliple buildings that can be rented). So if it's just you I recommend taking a doll you don't mind carrying around if you're worried.

 

@Cap'n Thank you for letting me know about all this. It will be just me, no friends collect like me. I will bring a carry case for my doll.

This will be our twelfth convention! I am so excited to be back after we had to cancel last year due to you know why: the horrible, horrible pandemic.

Our doll costume and photo diorama theme is Mardi Gras / Carnival! There will be forty feet of display area with floats and environments for you to pose your dolls in the theme.

We also have over a dozen doll vendors who will be selling all things dollfie and BJD, from clothes to dolls to jewelry. Come see what works for your doll (or dolls!).

There will be door prizes, a doll costume contest, raffles, tables to hang out, and refreshments! We also have the food truck, Baby's Badass Burgers, there for your lunch needs.

We open at 10am and go to 5pm. Saturday, November 13, 2021. Just $20.

Note that masks are required for the unvaccinated and recommended for the vaccinated. Please enjoy the con safely!

Oh wow. Had I known earlier about this con, I would be going. Unfortunately I can’t make it. I do hope there will be more cons in California so that I can plan to go. It’d be lovely to meet bjd collectors alike. Yeah sadly, I’m the only collector in my circle of friends. But do have fun to all that is going!
