This one was sort of an experiment to see if I could design a more robotic, less humanoid looking BJD while still being able to keep articulation and without the ball joints being too obvious. It was certainly a learning experience with many updates along the way. The final doll is 3d printed from black and white resins and painted. It was based on a 1/6 scale doll originally but the proportions are not quite so small in the end due to stretched out proportions. The fingers on the hands articulate at the hand joint. The antennas and "jets"(on the back) also articulate independently. The face is attached magnetically. The eyes were also resin printed and hand painted but are otherwise pretty standard form eyes. Oh my gosh, not sure what I expected but it wasn't that! Very unique design, feels like a cool video game character. The doll is lovely and the ball joints feel like part of the design and not like necessary articulation points, heck I'm not sure I can even point them all out! This turned out great!
Very neat! I absolutely think you succeeded on keeping the ball joints nearly invisible! It's very sleek and I really do love the overall look. Everything vibes just perfectly! It very much looks like it would be a fun doll to play around with or to pose for photographs. Thank you for sharing with us!
Really impressive! What a cute little robot and the textured vs smooth surface, also the colors... Super cool !
they're very cool overrall i love that it's 3d printed (it's been years and it STILL feels like some futuristic thing to me i can't get over), i love how shiny the surface is, i love the fingers, and the antennae, and jesus did you say the face is attached magnetically?! and, as the others said, amazing job on integrating the joints into the design (and really, just the design as a whole)! i love how there's still personality despite the "robotic" inspiration and apperance
