Robot BJD Work In Progress

May 15, 2021

    1. I've been working on a robot BJD for a little while now and I wanted to get some feedback on it. Any comments would be appreciated.
The doll is a non-organic robot type and looks mostly mechanical(I plan on making a more organic looking robot doll in the future). I will print this in resin in black and white eventually. The version in the pictures is a prototype I printed from PLA to work out the kinks with the design and the joints/proportion/etc. The 3D image below is the latest version taking in what I've learned from the prototype.

    2. Oh! He's so interesting! I can't wait to watch your progress

    3. Ooo, nice! I'm liking the design! Is the shoulder set with a solid L shape on the side of the shoulder joint? I worry that particular shape to the shoulder will bump into things, but I might be misinterpreting where the splits are in parts.

Been working on a robot design myself (my husband's character, and he has a hard time explaining his idea to me) that I'm hoping to get done sometime, it's been slow going.

    4. It's solid on the shoulder but the ball on the end and the shallow joint on the body let it move around more or less freely. There's a rotating joint where the shoulder meets the top of the arm to help with range of movement. It is a little weird just because of how the arms are in general since the arm is so much wider at the bottom but I've been able to pose it pretty well so far.

I would love to see more Robot BJDs especially the more mechanical types! I haven't come across too many.
