    2. Wow, amazing work! It looks just like him!

Did you make the Apoxy Sculpt copy to protect the original? (so you'll use the primed copy for casting, and not the clay (?) original).

    3. Woah, that's cool! I'm always impressed by people that are able to make 3D portraits like this, I can't even fathom where you'd begin.
Would love to see what a face-up will do, since RDJ's look is so much defined by his facial hair.

    4. Incredible work! :D

    5. Thank you so much!
The head was originally sculpted in Castilene. Though it's a hardest grade of all three, it's still too fragile to make a mold. I mean, Castilene is good for making molds, but BJD casting companies prefer a strong, sturdy prototypes, as they want to be sure the prototype won't be ruined during the mold making process. Also shipping is the issue. So I sculpt in Castilene and then make the copy out of Apoxie.

Thanks a lot! The funny thing is when I discovered that I'm much better in sculpting than in drawing)) I used to draw since my early childhood and started sculpting only in my thirties. Like, you'll never know until you try, sort of))
I'm eager to paint him too! I already did RDJ Minimee faceup once: it was an awesome MNM, with a good amount of likeness, but very different from mine.

      Thank you!

    6. Thank you for your reply on the Apoxie Sculpt copy! I'm interested in sculpting my own bjds someday (it will be a while) and I'm collecting information about sculpting, casting, etc.

    7. You're welcome!

    9. He is looking great!!
I'm interested to know how did you make the Apoxie copy?

    10. Thank you!
I did it through a silicone mold - that's why it's so dented: Apoxie doesn't stick to silicone well. Previously I did it through plaster molds, which Apoxie fills like a dream, but the molds had to have too many parts and undercuts weren't possible. Still have no ideal solution.
