I ordered him last year! but I had him on a long layaway from RingDoll, and then I was away from home for a while so had to delay deliver for a month. So it was around a year wait, but not all RIngDoll's fault at all. I ordered the fullset because I really liked how this guy looked in that outfit and with that faceup. Yeah--I can show absolutely NO imagination when ordering dolls sometimes. I often really like how the companies put them together and present them, what can I say? I'm not shelling OCs, so I feel free to like how artists are envisioning them. (There have been times I'm not a fan of a faceup or outfit, though. But if I like the whole package, aside from the extra money involved, I don't feel it's a bad thing.) Here he is for the sake of the thumbnail! I'll get to the basic opening after this! Shipper with RingDoll logo and lovely purple doll box with window and inset with "The Classic" on it. Both nice and sturdy. On top was wig and clothing and shoes for the fullset. Under that is a layer of cut-out foam to keep the body from moving around. And plastic and foam-sheet wrapping. Also CoA and Ringdoll pamphlet, plus stickers and postcards-- And extra pair of hands (fisted), eyes, eye-putty, eye-lashes and a little comb-- Nice sculpting of hands. I didn't spot any seam lines. Also great sculpting of feet... separated toes... except the big toe, which is a little odd given tabi socks and sandals would be able to be worn if there was a separation there and the other toes don't matter for that... but still nice detailed sculpt. And the famous jointed part that some RIngdolls have... It's attached by a tiny little elastic. Not sure where it goes--probably stops right inside the body. Spoiler: NSFW (although not too revealing) Unwrapped body-- I have to say that the RGM-3 body is very nice-looking. Muscled, but not thick with it. And the tan color is very nice. To Be CONTINUED!
... Continued-- View of back of boy-- Faceup-- I sometimes find RIngDoll faceups slightly sketchier compared to the official photos, but they still look nice. A bit heavy on the blushing, but still OK. (Otherwise I wouldn't have got it!). Lots of pieces to the outfit... Pants have ruffly bits attached. His body looks a bit ashy because I was an idiot of tried to MSC in between rain showers. I'm going to have to wipe it off him. His non-MSC'd body looked good enough... Shirt is nicely detailed. There's a wide belt that goes over the pants, with all the belt-details on it. Stretchy faux-leather cuff for his arm. faux-leather half-vest with straps fastened by snaps. Wig... those braided wigs used to be everywhere years ago. I don't see so many nowadays. The color is darker than I thought from the official photos... but it's weird that it sometimes shows up much lighter in photos. There was a thin pieces of string that needed to be strung in the grommets on the vest. A thicker string that is just worn around his neck in the official photos. A stretchy pieces of cloth can be tied in his wig. I also put eyelashes on him. I just used the ones that came with him. they were nice and thin, and dark, but that's OK for lashes. It's a subtle difference, but I really like lashes on dolls. The eyes that came with him were a nice grey-tan color and glass, but looked large--maybe 14mm or larger? I prefer smaller sized eyes in my dolls--the smallest that will not leave a gap. I have some small Iris eyes, but none in the right color. I put in some Mako Eyes, 12mm, TA-001. The cape was nicely detailed, too, with a ruffly thing at the collar. Nicely finished. Good weight to the fabric. Strap with snap goes around and under his arm in the official photos. There were three pieces of fur with snaps on them. Two smaller ones for the boot tops and two larger pieces sewn together to wear around his neck-- Thanks for looking!
I totally agree, this fullset is awesome ! Your boy is gorgeous, I really love the Ringdoll's tan skin.. Congrats !!
Such a handsome boy! Ringdoll always makes such lovely, detailed sculpts; I'm sure he was worth the long wait. I appreciate the sequential photos of him getting dressed - his outfit certainly seems quite intricate!
With that outfit, he kind of reminds me of romance book covers... paranormal romance covers--if he's a werewolf! I kind of like that background story, since I do like werewolf stories. The tan skin is a really nice color. Dark enough to give him color, but not too dark. Easy to photo. I had to stop and look up the official photos to figure out how the outfit was supposed to go on! I don't mind putting things on the way I like--but I also wanted to see if he would look like the pictures--and I think Ringdoll did a good job in doing that. I've had some Ringdoll outfits in the past that weren't quite as nice in-person (this is my third Ringdoll fullset). But this outfit was really nicely made and fit perfectly.
I love Ringdoll guys scuplts! I hope to get one next year :O Thanks so much for sharing, it helps me look forward to a Ringdoll
Oh, best wishes to you! I love Ringdoll guys, too. This is my 3rd--I also have Frankenstein & Norman.
He such a gorgeous sculpt! His fullest looks really great. Congratulations on finally getting him home to you.
Congrats for your new guy @april I always find interesting this sculpt and i had to say he's beautiful, thanks so much for sharing, you made a great choice and deffo wait worth Do you have already setted a character for him? Curious curious
He took his time coming... also I took a long time to finally click the buy button...! But I'm glad he's here, too. I definitely don't see enough Boyces around DoA. I usually don't pay much attention to the personalities that companies create, but I must admit that the whole werewolf thing has influenced me. He just seems like a very romantic (in a pirate-y way) werewolf hero with that outfit (and I really like his outfit... I was thinking of buying it for someone, anyone who could wear it here! But I liked his entire look, so just caved and got him. I'm kind of bad and don't really develop doll characters much... I have some vague idea of him being in an alternate world with other paranormals... he's got a story, but I'm not sure what it is yet! He is currently called Kekoa, after a grey wolf that I got to meet. It's Hawaiian meaning The Free one, I think.
You made a point about his clothes, i didn't liked that much on promo pics but after spotting your OB i have to say that is pretty interesting! I'm pretty bad, or lazy(?) with character stories and background, i really admire people that setting intricate stories since i really cannot do, it''s out of my possibilities Love the name, very interesting, looking forward to see more of him!
Yes, often some things look better in owner photos... sometimes it is the reverse! I think Ringdoll takes very nice photos. At least... they seem to attract me too much! I'm both bad and lazy about characters stories and backgrounds, too... but I like to have a new name at least, and some basic background. I WISH I were less lazy and wrote intricate stories, though. I have some ideas... but I have never gotten around to doing anything at all... I am also a very lazy and buy and keep many dolls as fullsets! I really see this Boyce as this character only, so far, wearing the same clothes and wig. So he might stay looking like this forever. My Frankenstein has kept in his fullset outfit, too. But my Norman... while I have his outfit, I don't really like it on him that much and he has been lying around mostly naked...
I agree with you, TBH i never liked that much promo pics, since many details doesn't show thru as in real, i completely understand that promos meant to be someway stylish, but i found hard get an idea about sculpt on second hand expecially with RingDoll blank head pics seems to be too simple, not sure if make sense I'm very lazy, super sluggish at time with my characters, guess we're in the same boat, sometimes i just get dolls cause i like them I'm not able to settle intricate stories, unless are old characters from my teneage fan fic
