Since I'm an illustrator who's been roleplaying in World of Warcraft for like 13 years, I've drawn my own OCs for about as long and my heart always fluttered at being able to see them in 3D. While I did some from-scratch doll sculpting with one character, I stumbled on Resinsoul's catalogue and realized I could style a 60cm Su like one of my other characters! After all, Su has these gorgeous long ears already, perfect for a Blood Elf! (credit: Resinsoul.com, her promo image) Then I realized I could maybe even modify her nose and earlobes to resemble my character even more. Really scary to try this on my first doll but I was determined! (below: my art of the character I'm shelling, Almondine) Out of curiosity I did pay for a company faceup and requested a specific look with reference images included, and they made a valiant effort! It actually came out quite pretty. You can see her nose is already lovely, but I wanted to adjust the shape of the bridge. I said goodbye to her first face and wiped her clean. Then started on the mods using Apoxie sculpt! Continued in next post--
I sent the sanded and buffed face to the amazing face-up artist Shrike Aesthetics to work on her, starting by color matching her mods. The mods do look quite blocky but for my first try I'm still pretty happy! When I finally got her back from Shrike, I was FLOORED and so so happy with the results!! And thus concludes my modding adventure, at least for this doll. Thanks for reading!!
I adore her!! I think the blockiness of your mods actually gives her a certain stylishness. Like a statue or painting, or a stylized 3d character Perfect since her origin is from Warcraft, right? I love how you've dressed her and the face up artist did a fantastic job too.
It’s so awesome to see you bring your OC to life like this. I think she looks amazing. You did a great job modding her.
She looks great! I actually like the blockiness of the mods, gives her a stylized look like a piece of cool concept art come to life. I wouldn’t mind seeing more BJDs with that sort of sharp, almost comic book-like aesthetic.
I loooove the blockiness of the nose, I don't think I've ever seen that in a sculpt before. Fantastic!
I really like the new nose, it has character! Overall I really like the looks, the make up is lovely Well made modification, I have also have think RS Su for this kind of purpose (making my nelf that is), the doll seems to be versatile
She is so gorgeous! And personally I think the blockiness works considering her character is from a videogame. It’s super charming and unique!
