Hi everyone, I have one quick question: Are Yao's and Ming's hooves the same size/sculpt? I can't find any info on this, let alone a body picture of Ming on Resinsoul's website... Their website is really frustrating if you want to actually see their dolls, thank God for this forum! I am thinking of getting a RS hooved mini but I really like the hooves to be as big as possible. Would it be possible to put the SD hooves on a MSD body(the Ai ones for example, unless Ai's and Mu's hooves are also the same..?) ? I hope somebody can help me in my confusion lol, I love this thread so much, so much information and picture spam!

 

Ai's hooves, believe it or not, are actually smaller than the MSD ones. And yes, the Ai hooves are the same as the Mu hooves as well. I don't know if the Yao and Ming have the same sculpt for their animal half, so I will let someone else answer that, but I would assume they are.

 

okamiKodomo: Thank you so much for your help! That's crazy about Ai's hooves, but they do look very small on her. Maybe you could put the MSD hooves on her legs to get bigger hooves, then. I guess RS only has one sculpt for the MSD hooves aswell, but maybe someone else knows for sure. I can't wait to order my fantasy girl, I am thinking about a Qing on the Yao body with a small bust in dark grey or dark tan. Qing seems to be a bit rare, there are not many owner pictures of her. I also like the Pixie sculpt, but maybe her head would be a bit big for the RS body. Ah well, I have a few weeks still to decide, if the Soom Little Gem FC event ever stops tempting me...

 

My Tripp is a Pixie on a RS Rong body. Her head is a little large but I think it suits her stylized face! Tripp has fangs that I carved/sculpted but Pixie is a very sweet sculpt! I adore mine even though she is still blank.

I have both Yao and Ming, and they have identical hooves. I also needed different hooves for my Ming, so I modded them to be bit bigger and different in shape.

 

Thank you both for your input! I am super in love with your girl, Nyxy, her fangs are very well done and her colour is just stunning! Hmm that doesn't make my choice any easier... Thank you for clarifying the hooves question, she_flame, there needs to be a thread with all the RS hooves side by side, maybe someone who has every RS sculpt....KittyBlue?

 

Nothing like being stuck at work when your mind is full of ideas for your doll. and then forget them when you get home. waah.

PoeticSoul, gawd I love Angora. She's just so perfectly feline. It's interesting how the blue, grey, and purple resin all seem like an off white in photographs to me. Maybe it's my mind tricking me.

Lucky, awwww, she's so cute! I've had mixed feelings about my RS dolls arriving, but I usually immediately mod, restring, and suede them. It's great to hear that Wren was strung well at the factory. When I got Hill, it was almost ridiculous how loosely he was strung.

Starbaby13, Cheri is so cute! And that's a great photo, too. Her faceup is really beautiful. I wish I could do more adventurous faceups with my dolls, but since they're all characters from stories of mine, a part of me is always like "nonono. they're normal people, they wouldn't go out in public like that". Still, I love seeing fantasy faceups. Please post more pics!

I've had my Qing since October, but I sat her on a shelf since I wasn't sure what to do with her and I had planned to use her body for another doll. I got the itch to do some modding today, so I dusted her off and did a human ear mod to her. You can't tell that she's been modded at all, though. After playing with her all day, I'm in love. She's just so cute!

 

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer for through searching on flickr or youtube. How does the body joint in the single jointed boy body work? Does it allow any kind of slouch? I'm guessing it doesn't hold backwards in an arch at all but I would love a body that can sluch.

I'm debating between just getting the double jointed body, or getting the single jointed torso (which I like the look of better) with double jointed arms and legs but want to know how the single jointed torso poses first. My other option is to just buy the head and hybrid on a different body, since I know the boys have posing issues with their legs, though I'm also considering doing the mods that have been shown on here cause I'd rather get a complete RS boy if I can.

That was when Rune had his old body, the original single jointed. It can slouch, but there is a lot of gapping. In clothing that might not be an issue, though. I ended up getting him a dollzone body later on. He is also holding on to the fence completely under his own power.

 

Rinoa - Personally I prefer the SJ-slouch. It looks more natural to me, since you can't bend the ribcage as the DJ-body does, with the joint right under the pecks. The gap in the back is just the same size for both my DJ and SJ. I tried to string the DJ-arms and legs to the SJ-torso and vice versa. Sorry for crappy photo but this is the result.



They work really well on each other, so as for my next RS-boy I'm thinking of asking for a special order, with the DJ arms and legs on the SJ torso. Just because I like the SJ torso much more OuO

 

A big turn down for the RS bodies for me is that the arms are relatively short. But seeing here the double jointed arms on the single jointed torso, wow that is the sollution! Thank you for sharing!

I was considering getting my resinsoul Mei a double jointed body. Her posing is just a bit limited for my liking, are there any types of double jointed bodies I could get besides the Resinsoul one? I'm a bit curious.

 

I can't vouch for this, since I don't have an RS yet, but going by what matches what theoretically Dollzone, Doll Chateau, Magic Time, Dikadoll, Mystic Kids all in NS-Pink SHOULD match (I read somewhere that MK matches DZ). DIM should match too, they only do one skin colour. So if you see a body from them you like it would probably be a good bet.

I have seen a photo of an RS head on a Doll Chateau body, and the owner gave him Dollzone jointed hands on his RS body. You do have to be careful with DZ/DC in case they change their pink tone up (one time last year it was shrimp pink!) but recently it's been nice and subtle.

This is for RS NS by the way. I have no idea what matches the other colours they offer.

 

Oh Siha, it's not the face that's giving me trouble! Rong has a beautiful face - it's the ears that are stopping me, especially if I want a fantasy colour ><;
Apparently I'm really picky about ears, because I got an RS Yun head, and really like the face, but the ears are driving me nuts ><; I took the Yun head off and put the Ai head on right away and haven't looked back.
I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with the Yun head at this point, but that's a matter for the Large discussion thread xD

Also between Raesha's beautiful girl and Max's handsome Nabi, I can't even decide if I want a boy or a girl!

Right now Ju has absolutely stolen my heart though.

I have my Mei on the double-jointed body! I happen to think it's perfect just the way it is, and you'd have two options for bust sizes. Resinsoul often refers to them as the "Rong" body and the "Li" body. Rong has the mature bust, and that's the body my girl is on, and Li has the "immature" (smaller) bust.

I think Angel of Dream's NS-pink might match? The NS-Yellow is too yellow

 

It's a shame they don't do a version of Rong with human ears, like they do with some of their other sculpts. I love Rong's face too but would prefer human ears.

I'm not against modding though. I'd probably get Rong in a non-fantasy colour so I could do that.

 

Cyador~ The Tang body is fairly long armed... just FYI. I was actually really shocked at how long my dragons arms were

 

I put my Ariel head on and AOD normal pink body and it looks great!

Also, Tripp's new hands arrived today! Both right hands (they sent two sets) arrived broken so I've been hiding them in all my pictures! Now I have extra reisin bits for all my experimentation needs

Tip of the longest nail to heel: 3 1/8 inches
Widest part of the toes: 1 5/8 inches
floor to top of the ball: 2 inches

Does anyone know how RS normal resin compares to Dollzone normal-pink these days? My older dolls say the match was really good back when they were new but I've heard that DZ got really pink there for a while. I'm thinking about getting a DZ head and later getting an RS body for it, so worst case I can color match by sending the headcap, but if that is likely to be what I have to do I might as well get the head in tan, which will have to be color matched.

New hands and now new clothes for Tripp! Been a good week for her

 

Guys, I need help!!

We're doing a Leeke order and there's a wig I really want to get for Grey, but he's a 6-7 and they don't carry that size, only 6-6.5 and 7-8. So which size do I get for him?

 

If you're not afraid of doing a little creative stitchery, get the larger size and take the wig in. That's what I did to get Jolen his ankle-length wig in the blue he needed. I bought a white 7/8 from Cool Cat, took all the wefts off, re-sized it for his smaller noggin as well as made it to fit around his ginormous ears (Jolen is a Jun), dyed all the wefts, and then sewed everything back together. It was the ONLY way I was able to get him a blue wig, ankle-length in 6/7 that would fit around his ears.

You could probably take the wig in without having to take all the wefts off if the amount you need to size down isn't too great. I had no choice because of what I needed to do as well as the finished look of the dye job (slight variations of blue to add high/low lights to the completed wig).

 

I measured Grey's head, and he's juuuuust shy of 7", so I don't think a 6-6.5 will fit him at all - going with the 7-8 size.

Next mission is his boots, and Maple's heels. I'm so sad I missed out on Dale Rae.

 

Long time, no post! Here's my Ming, Styrr. Those hooves aren't the best for standing and there isn't much range in the leg movement. But his legs are just so cute!

 

Capistrono, He really looks very cute. I like the color difference between the skin color and white wig.

What colour is your Rong? Dikadoll or Magic Time NS-P jointed hands should match if your Rong is in NS.

 

Great pictures, guys! I love your Ming's hooves Capistrono, are they airbrushed white? It's a great look! I am really excited about ordering my hooved girl soon and I will order human legs aswell, so I won't get tired of her hooves lol. I love that RS will let you order any combination and whatever parts you want, what a great customer service. I'm pretty set on a Qing but can't decide on resin colour: dark grey, grey or dark tan? Or maybe blue? I will get a red Bobobie tiny soon, so the yearning for that colour will be quenched.

Zomboid My Ming's horns and hooves are in grey and the rest of him is in dark tan, though the lighting in that picture may mess with the colors a a bit. I had his legs airbrushed white to match the white wig.
I love my boy's dark tan! There aren't any seams or discoloration at all! But all of the colors are gorgeous. so your girl will look great no matter what!

 

I can also vouch for the dark tan being gorgeous. I have a Yao head on the Ming body in the dark tan and as Capistrono said, there's no seam and no marbling on him. I also have a tiny in the dark grey and another in the red (again, no seams or marbling) and I have one of the old blues (although he has since mellowed to a lovely turquoise colour).

 

I finally started working on Wren's outfit. The headband is crochet, the top is burlap that I then added some cord I braided to. The pants are wool (and a bit stiff so she can't sit up quite as straight). The staff is dowel wrapped in cord and a strip of burlap. I need to make her more accessories, but it's a start.
