Resin scraps?

    1. Hi everyone!

      I generally enjoy experimenting on stuff, but I don't want to ruin full heads and bodies with my messing around (like testing with solvents, Dremels, etc). So does anyone have a source for resin scrap, other than getting lucky and finding a project head on the MP?

    2. Search for: junk casts.

      A junk cast is the first resin casting out of a silicone rubber mold.
      It may have bits of rubber, dust, or other kruft embedded in it.
      Otherwise, it would be perfect for experimental purposes.
      :)

      I would call flashing, sprues, runners, and gates, resin scrap.

      Is there a good source for those? Or should I just beg around?

      I found while looking on DoA's MP, I have a hard time even with poorly-made up heads. Something about potentially destroying a really good head fills me with dread. Using junk casts of heads and larger body parts sounds perfect. Thanks again!

    4. I think you might get more results by asking around here instead of DOA for junk casts. On DOA, you'll pbb find more people with things like failed mods, stained heads, old heads, etc. On here you'll find sculptors...and where there are sculptors there are junk casts XD;

      You might have to stick around and ask on some active WIP/finisheds threads, though, since I think not everyone is aware when a new thread is begun. Good luck 8D

    6. Maybe we could start a "buy my junk" thread LOL for the price of postage you too have have buckets and buckets of deformed limbs, bubbled heads and half-cast butts..... LOL
