    2. I still have my ticket from my 2020 registration and I just hope I can save up enough money to actually go next year. For the theme, I'm planning on having a doll be Little Red Riding Hood and another as a fairytale style prince. The others won't really be dressed up any differently from their normal outfits except for my child YoSD, Oliver, who will be cosplaying as Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon. It's a work in progress :XD:

    3. oh man im gonna just barely miss it!
I'm going to be in oregon the week before for a wedding and leaving just before :doh
and a fairy tale theme too??? :atremblin

    4. I've had a ticket purchased since February 2020 right before covid really hit the US. This will potentially be my first RR and though I do still really want to go and even have friends planning on going whom I was hoping to drive up there with along with split hotel costs, with how things are it's SO hard to plan things that far ahead right now. I have no idea how my funds will even be this time next year.

So right now it's a big fat maybe for me. :sigh

    5. @MysteryAya Thanks for sharing this! Looks amazing!

Is it best to submit a panelist/class form in the same email as a vendor request & then wait for the PayPal invoice, if I wanted to do both? Or do you think the vendor table countdown might be too tight & best to purchase immediately?
      :)

    6. @maxxxamillion We only have 4 vendor tables left. If you send in your application, I can hold the table for you until the panel is approved and then invoice you.

    7. @MysteryAya Perfect, I'll have both applications for table and class sent over to you by this evening. I really appreciate your support!

    8. I'm hoping I'll make it to either this or Dallas!

    9. I have sent out confirmation emails to all vendors and those that have pre-registered. If you did not receive an email please contact me at [email protected].

Our hotel block is now open. Our code is RRBJD22
You can book your hotel room with this link or call 800-492-8700 and use our code.

    10. I have hope that case numbers will stay low and I will be able to attend. I've been looking forward to this for years!

      • x 1
    11. I really did consider going to this as a birthday present to myself but the flight would kill me. Soaring gas prices are going to hurt.
I hope to see plenty of photos tho!!

    12. I would super love to go to this but I would want to share a room to cut down on costs. Would anyone be potentially interested in sharing a room for Friday-Sunday? I'm quiet and don't need much room :kitty2

    13. @MysteryAya will there be dolls for sale at the expo?

    14. Yes, we will have several doll creators there ,as well as people selling their second hand goods.

    15. I am very excited to attend!

      • x 1
    16. I'd love to go <3 I wanted to ask where are people flying into? Is Portland the nearest airport? And if so, do people usually rent a car to get to Clackamas? I'm in AL, so I'd definitely have to fly in cx

      • x 2
    17. I think based on Google maps/etc the Prtland airport is the best one to fly into based on location. The hotels site also does say they provide free airport shuttles as well! I want to go but I would need to find at least 1 roomie for the two nights

      • x 2
    18. You'll want to fly into the Portland Airport. Clackamas is a suburb of Portland. There are several options you can take to get to the hotel. There is a regular shuttle service from the Airport to the Monarch, you need to call for service. Information can be found on the Monarch's website. You can also take the Max Light Rail Green Line that goes from the Airport to Clackamas and it is a .5 mile walk from the station to the hotel. The hotel is 12 miles from the airport so uber/lift/taxi's are an option as well as renting a car. Parking is free at the Monarch hotel if you do decide to rent a car.

    19. OOooh! This sounds lovely! When is the last day to sign up?

    20. August 5th, 2022 will be the last day to preregister. You can purchase tickets at the door but there is a price increase.

    21. First doll convention So exciting! :D Spouse and I just bought day passes for Saturday.

Is anyone in the greater Seattle area thinking of going and would like to get together about a month before hand?
I would love to get to know some fellow doll people before the expo, and the weather should be alright for a picnic style meet at a local park.
Reply with your area if you are interested!

Update: Meetups section thread for greater Seattle and surrounding areas picnic meet finished, thread no longer updating. Last message in thread has a link to photo of the dolls who attended : ) Looking forward to seeing people at the Convention!

    22. We did meet with the hotel this week and the rooms are about 1/2 way sold out. We recommend that you do reserve your rooms soon because once they are sold out, we may not be able to add more. If you are trying to book a room online, please remember to put in our group code (not promo code)- RRBJD22 on this page. It will bring up double and single rooms with our group rates. Rooms are not sold out. If you don't put in the code the group rates wont show up and the double queen rooms will show as sold out. To reserve by phone, call toll free at 800-492-8700 or the hotel directly at 503-652-1515 and mention you're with the Resin Rose Expo. If you have any problems booking a room online please let us know.

    23. I'm super excited for this. My first BJD convention ever! I'm attending with @rap1993/Resin Playthings as table helper/go-fer. I genuinely look forward to this, and will be taking my Minifee Chloe, Anouska, with me. <3

    25. Wish I could go, but it's the week of a family gathering. Hopefully next year!

    26. Resin rose isn’t that far off! I’ll be flying in from all the way in Florida. I would love some help from locals to try and iron out some logistics to be able to book my flight and such before it’s too late.

(I’m planning on visiting friends in Washington state before going to Oregon and am trying to find the cheapest way to get from Spokane to the con. Thinking maybe train but need more info help.)

feel free to message me if this is too off topic for the thread.

      • x 1
    27. Ah, that's a long way to come, it's great you can make it a trip to visit friends and then do the con in one flight!

I think the train's a good bet-- afaik you should be able to take the train for not much more than a bus, and it shaves some time off of the trip. But the bus is another option. You'd have to compare ticket prices and times for the right date to find what works best for you, but I know it's possible to book tickets for under fifty bucks either way.

    28. The hotel block is sold out online. The hotel said you might be able to get rooms if you call them toll free at 800-492-8700 or the hotel directly at 503-652-1515 and mention you're with the Resin Rose Expo. If they ask for a group code please use RRBJD22.

    29. Our meet up spaces are now open. Want to host a themed meet up for a specific doll sculpt/company, type of doll, or just a general meet up? The new Underground lounge and the Buena Vista meeting room are available for indoor meetups
Great for group photo ops or just a quite place to gather some friends.
If you'd like to host a meetup please contact us at [email protected]. Our host meet up forms can be found on our website https://www.resinrosebjd.com/meet-ups.html

    30. So flights have tripled since the last time I looked. If I’m able to get a double bed, I’d anyone looking for a roomie? Considering my options at the moment because I was expect a two or 300 dollar difference not 4-800. (and that’s that I have credit for the airline.)

      • x 1
    31. So I booked my flight and extended my hotel stay… I’m not gonna be able to do tons like I had originally planned but hopefully I won’t worry about the expenses too much and have fun. Anyone coming in early or staying later?

    33. We are arriving Thursday, because when I arrived Friday in 2019 it was exhausting. So trying to arrive a day early this time!

    34. Ah makes sense! I might be going to the Japanese gardens and rose gardens on Friday morning. If anyone is interested. :D

    35. I’m going to Resin Rose for the first time, and I’m really excited! I live just down the street from the hotel (seriously, I can bicycle there), so if anyone needs directions or recommendations for things to do in the area, I can help.

I’m looking forward to seeing vendors in person, because I hate buying things for my dolls online and realizing they don’t fit. I have an Iplehouse JID Cordelia and I just got a Fairyland Minifee Ingrid in the mail today (and she has no faceup, wig, clothes, nothing). I ordered 2 dolls from Black Cherry Dolls, and they are currently getting faceups in Russia. So there is a slim chance that they will reach me in time for the con?

      • x 2
    36. There's definitely always a lot of tempting stuff for minifee girls, several of the returning vendors will be able to help you clothe your Ingrid for sure! Plus you can check out some local faceup artists if you don't have an artist in mind. And in my experience, everyone is so helpful about letting you check the fit on an item.

    37. I would love to do a doll meet/picnic in the seattle area! I just moved up to seattle and want to make some doll friends before the con too!

      • x 1
    38. Welcome to Seattle! Sadly that specific doll meet has passed, but more than a few people who responded to that thread are going to the convention : )

I don't know for sure if anyone has any set plans for meeting up at the convention but I wouldn't be surprised! Good luck and hope you have fun!

      • x 1
    39. So would love to attend! Hope those that do share their experience.

    40. Are you all bringing your own dolls to this convention? How do you take them on the flight? Do you put them in your carry on luggage? Hold them in your lap on the flight? Or just leave them at home?

    41. So excited for this!!! I've been holding on to my 2020 pass all this time! I started a doll costume 2.5 years ago but abandoned it when the original date got canceled, and I just took it off the shelf and finished it! Bringing my partner along, it'll be his first doll event (my 4th) :dance

By the way, @MysteryAya is it necessary to register for contests or panels? The only sign-up I see on the website is for the Realistic Flora workshop

    42. @Kittzel I'm getting excited too!! Still got a bunch of stuff to do :? (mostly for my personal vendor table)

You do not need to register for contests. Just bring your entry along with you.
We only have 1 panel that is requiring a sign up. It is on our website- Panels & Classes

    43. I took my doll's head off and wrapped her hands in bubble wrap, then wrapped her in an afghan and put her in my carry on. The afghan took up most of the space in the carry on, and was pliable enough that I was able to fit another doll (purchased at the convention) in there when I flew back.

    44. when I went to dollpa in 2019 I just brought with me a yosd, and brought home two more yo’s and an msd. I bought some light colored towels from a store and wrapped them up carefully in my carry on bag and personal bag. I thought I’d get stopped but didn’t. I wouldn’t trust dolls in the under belly but that’s basically because if your luggage gets lost so does your doll. I’m gonna try and convince myself to bring only one doll again… but I really want to bring my SD because he’s my emotional support doll. lol.

I’m arriving on the 10th and leaving the 17th and have a rental car. If anyone wants to do any shenanigans let me know. Friday of the con I’m thinking I’m gonna hit up the Japanese gardens and rose garden to do some light urban sketching since tickets arnt available till after 4pm. I’m also making plans to go to mount hood and maybe the zoo and maybe one or two other places if anyone is going to be hanging a day or so before and after the con.

I’m super excited and nervous all in the same since I’m coming from such a long way off and my friends who originally were gonna go with can’t. But I’m meeting long time internet friends for the first time so I’m excited!!

    45. That sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love to be there, but unfortunately, I don't have the money for a trip like that right now. I really didn't even know of this convention until about a week ago! I'm going to plan to go next year. Hopefully there will be lots of pictures and videos of the event!

    46. When I had to pack 4 dolls (2 large, 1 mini, 1 tiny) on an international move, I couldn't fit all of them in my carry-on luggage, so my strategy was:
-tiny doll: in her carrying case with a face protector (it's a soft-sided zipper case only about the size of a shoe, so not difficult)
-mini doll: face protector, tucked very carefully in my "personal item" backpack in the fetal position-- limbs all curled in to avoid anything sticking out or snapping around. I think I had a towel or a travel pillow next to her as padding.
-large dolls: had to go in my checked luggage, so each doll was completely dismantled, individual pieces wrapped in tissue, heads wrapped up with face protectors, all the tissue-wrapped pieces for each doll in a gallon-size ziplock bag like a garage kit. The bags were then padded on all sides with my clothes. Everyone survived with no damage!

It's more work to unstring/restring them, but it's also more secure because there's nowhere for the parts to move so they can't really get jostled or scratched unless the bag they're in gets completely steamrolled. Also saves space.

    47. Luckily I don't have to travel far, so I don't have to worry about packing for a flight... but I'm probably going to have to make some choices about who comes and who doesn't based on car space, since I'm traveling with my sister and sharing van space with not only her dolls, but our shop stuff. Last time there was an in-person convention, I had fewer dolls...

    48. We have an important announcement regarding Covid-19 Protocols-

As the show date rapidly approaches we'd like to update you on the current mask requirements for our show.

After careful consideration, and review of local policies we've opted to require masks to be worn by all attendees in any public Resin Rose space.
This includes the ballroom/banquet hall (while getting food/ receiving a prize)
      Vendor hall
      Class rooms
      Meet up spaces
      Swap room
      DIY room
Resin Rose and the hotel will also have had sanitizer placed around the convention space and the hotel.
We will also have individually wrapped masks available if you forget your mask.
We appreciate your compliance with this request to help keep everyone healthy and safe.

      ~ Resin Rose Staff.

    49. I dunno why I’m getting nervous. Still need to pack and decide who gets to go and if I chose to attempt to bring an SD with me lol. I know I’m better off with a YO-SD for travel size purposes but oh so tempting to bring my emotional support doll Ringo with me. Oh well.

also if anyone is up for pre or post con shenanigans please let me know. I will have a rental car. :3

    50. In order to spare my sad, easily injured spine from carrying a heavy bag around the convention I am bringing a wheeled cart. The other day I found a very cute bag to put on the cart that will hold my stuff and display a doll or two : D It's one of those pet backpacks with a bubble-style window.

There are a surprising number of different styles of these pat carrier backpacks available. If someone wanted too fix it up that way, the ones with a whole clear front could make a pretty awesome rolling shadow-box style doll display.

I'm sure using pet backpacks to carry dolls isn't a new idea but thought I would share this version here for any other first timers. Very much looking forward to seeing all the fun things people have done with their dolls!

    51. i really wanted to bring one of these. But since I’m flying I’d have no way of bringing it unless I use it as my personal item and I’m not sure it would fit under the seat and be able to carry other things. (I like to bring a few sets of clothes in case my carry on gets checked and then lost. ;_; ) but I really do want one of these for this sort of reason. Lol

    52. Any idea what dolls folks are bringing? :)

    53. I'll be bringing a couple tinies made by someone who lives near me, and my contest entry. Don't want to bring anything else since that will be space in my luggage that could be used for dolls.

    54. Yeah, this particular cart folds pretty small but I'm not 100% sure it would be within checked bag size limits. If we weren't driving I think I'd clean out my wheelie luggage into a larger expandable bag and keep that in the hotel room while I towed the other around behind me.

But I have also mailed things back to myself from the destination post office to save money on return luggage fees lol! And because the airlines are brutal on anything that ends up in the cargo hold. Safe travels and a smooth flight for you flying people!

    55. yeah. I really should just take a tiny or two.

yeah I figured I can mail myself whatever if it doesn’t fit in my luggage. No biggie.

i really want to bring one my SD’s. Someone tell me I’m nuts so I concentrate on just littles. Lol

    56. Oh, bringing SDs on a plane is fairly simple. You'll just get odd looks from airport security.

I can't believe it's only a week away! I need to finish my contest entry!

      • x 1
    57. Yeah if I bring him I have to limit anyone else. Maybe one other unless I bring some tinies. (Like that fit in an eye glass case. lol)

I’m so excited and I can’t wait either. It’s exactly 7 days for me because I’m flying in on wenesday.

    58. I must be nuts flying with three SDs :sweat
I couldn't choose who to bring lol

    59. Nah. I might still do it since it’s my dolls birthday. lol but I also have decided to bring my camera and that kind of changes things. lol.
