Just from briefly digging around company sites, it seems to me that the ones that do offer matching services don't really list it anywhere, don't make it immediately obvious how to request it, etc... So what's everyone's experience with doing it? Did you send an email, put it in your order notes, go through a dealer? Have you ever been refused, and if so, did they say why? What did they ask you to send over to them for matching - existing doll parts, paint samples?
I had a ResinSoul girl in custom black resin. I just sent them an email with a photo example of what I wanted attached. Because of screen color differences, it might not be exact, but I've also heard of people physically mailing a piece of resin to match, or getting paint samples and mailing the one closest to what they want. I think physically mailing the color you want will probably get you a more accurate color. I've seen a dark tan Impldoll that was matched to a Migidoll head whose headcap was mailed to them for a sample, and the color was very very close.
I've already asked resin matching services, directly to a company or through a dealer. Directly to a company, it was with Spiritdoll. I asked them for a custom matching tan by mail. They asked pictures of the tan (to know if it was doable), then I sent a part of the doll (the headback in my case) in China. Through dealer it was more or less the same (it was Alice's collection), aside that they gave me list of companies offering resin matching services. I did my choice between those companies, then sent a picture of the resin by mail, waited for them to show it to the company, and once the company agreed I sent the headback to the dealer. I have already been refused once, for a tan that was quite dark. They said they didn't offered tan and special resin matching anymore. Edit : here is a picture of the doll with the Spiritdoll matching body :
Id love to read peoples experiences too. Im currently waiting for a headcap to reach AC for resin matching and its the first time Ive ordered it, so Im pretty stoked about it.
I ordered a resin matched body from doll family H (via alice's collection) a few years ago! in my case I mailed them the headback.
I’ve gone through Alice’s Collections to get Doll Family H to resin match a body for a head I had. All I had to do was indicate in the note section of my order that I wanted the body resin matched. They then confirmed what color I wanted the body to be matched with. I’m my case I wanted volks white, and the doll company had a sample on hand, so I didn’t need to send a headcap to the company as an example. I know it’s not always the case but some companies may have the resin color you want on hand already.
