Thanks in large part to the support and enthusiasm of our community, Resin Hearts is pleased to return in 2016, at a new venue at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.

This year, weโ€™re celebrating all of the ghosties and ghoulies, all the creepies and crawlies and especially the things that go bump in the night in our con of Dolloween!

We have another great day of vendors, door prizes and panels in the works and updates will be coming soon via Facebook and Tumblr, as well as our website. Please check out our web-page for additional information and help us spread the word to make our second year even better than the first!

If you have specific questions or concerns regarding membership, vending, contests, or other, please do not hesitate to contact us through the website (link in next post!). We hope to use this thread primarily to keep you updated and focused on what you're looking forward to about this year's endeavor.

    3. The website has been updated with our first confirmed vendors! We are still actively seeking applicants to vend with us this year and make this a day to remember for our attendees! (I'd like to take a moment to say that I'm REALLY happy about one of the vendors who is confirmed but isn't on the list just yet!)

And did you know that there will be CONTESTS? You must be present to enter and all attendees will have a chance to vote for their favorite by secret ballot.

We welcome discussion here-- please let us know what you're looking forward to and who you're hoping to see!

    4. This looks like so much fun, but I'm so far away :( How many vendors/patrons do you expect?

    5. Last year was a really great convention and we got a lot of great feedback at the time-- and enough support from the community to convince us that we could do it again. We had about 20 vendors last year and have already confirmed that at least four are returning. We're working to meet that number again, if not exceed it as we have a much larger space this year. As for attendees, we had about 60 last year.

I should also add that last year was actually our first year even trying to put on a convention, and these numbers gave us the confidence to plan again for this year.

    6. I'm REALLY falling behind on keeping this updated! There have been three blog posts over at www.resinhearts.com, including our first donor blog post featuring Alice's Collection. You can read all about it HERE! And just this morning, we received another AMAZING donation offer, but... you'll just have to stay tuned :sweat

    7. Very exciting! I hope I can make it! :D

    8. This sounds like a fun convention. I might drop by. XD

    9. Last year's convention was definitely a lot of fun-- aside from vendors and panels, it's a great chance to meet and talk with other doll owners whom you might not run into otherwise (and there will be plenty of tables for socializing at this year's event)

There have also been blog post updates... pretty much every day, and I've totally failed to keep on top of that here, so... GO TO THE WEBSITE! Check out our growing list of vendors and donors! Think about what you can do for the contests! Pre-register and please! Help us spread the word!

    10. There's been a new blog post over at the website pretty much every day (because our webmistress is more on top of things than I am, when it comes to keeping things updated). We've got details up on donors for the contest and door prizes, guidelines for contest entries and, most importantly...

      Pre-Registration!

You get more than just $5 off day-of admission if you're one of the first 25 pre-registrants... head on over to the website to check out the details and sign up today!

    11. Just registered for myself and my sister! We were able to lump this on with some other things and will be flying out from Colorado! One question I do have is is this con off-topic doll friendly? My sister doesn't have a bjd. If she were to bring, say, a Monster high, would she be laughed out of there or would it be cool? (I get that you don't need to bring a doll but it might be more fun for her if she had something.) BJDs are more my thing but she's interested too!

    12. Off topic dolls (as long as they're legal) are completely welcome at Resin Hearts. We will not laugh at anyone interested in enjoying their hobby in the company of other hobbyists. Your sister and her Monster High (or Blythe, Pullip, Ever After High, any other fashion doll, etc.) would be totally welcome at our convention and in our contests, workshops, and panels, which are open to all members.

    13. She will be thrilled to hear that, thank you!! We'll be looking forward to coming!! :cheer

    14. In case you were curious, there are still VENDOR SPACES available!

It seems like there was some initial confusion around our use of the term 'Jury Process.' When we began our planning, we were looking at a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller space for hosting the convention and did not want to rely on a 'first come-first served' system that might have resulted in us having 5 vendors offering wigs, but no one offering eyes because they were too late to the game.

Our venue has changed and we have a lot more space to accommodate vendors, but we did not wish to change our process mid-stream. This process is the way that we are seeing many Artist Alley selections going, and it has been the system in place for one notable Bay Area convention since its inception, all to ensure that the attendees are seeing the best variety that the community as a whole has to offer.

If you are an artisan or crafter (or know someone who is!) who specializes in items for bjd but have never tried vending at a convention, we would love to welcome you! Check out the VENDOR PAGE of our website and apply today!

    15. Have you been putting off paying for your registration? I'm here to remind you that if you're quick, you can STILL be among the first 25 pre-registered members and get those extra goodies in the goody bag you'll pick up along with your badge. Several vendors and friends of the convention have stepped forward to make these bags special!

      What are you waiting for?

      REGISTER TODAY!!

    16. I'm super excited to be attending!!~ Hope to see many new people there!~

    17. I am a new people who will be there! I'm trying to talk my roommate into coming with me, too. Muahaha.
I'll be preregistering once my paycheck goes through and hopefully with her, too! I'll see if my resident dolly buddy will be in town for this and will go with me, too, but since she's going to school very far away in a tropical paradise I doubt she'll be home yet by October. I'm expecting late November or even early December for her, but I'll check.
I'm so excited! I already requested the time off from work, too! PTO. Muahahaha.

    18. XD great! can't wait to meet you ^^

    19. Just bought our tickets out there and the tickets to the convention!! See you all there!!

    20. As one of the organizers, I'd just like to take a moment to say how much it warms my heart to see people excited for what we're putting together. I can't wait to meet all of you in person!

    21. My husband and I are coming from Colorado to see ya'll! ^_^ It's too cute to pass up. I'm still looking for a cute costume though for my doll.

    22. We've certainly been having a lot of fun, getting everything organized. Frankly, I'm still a little floored any time I see that someone is traveling to join us, especially since this is only our second year . Good luck with getting your costume together; I'm still working on mine >.<

    23. You all should feel super proud, it'll be my first time ever in California! And I am coming for dolls. ^_^ I hope you all keep this even up! I would love to come down every year.

    24. I love how @taribulovesyou lives in the same state as me but our best chance of crossing paths is out in California, of all places!

I actually go out there a lot because of relatives... Actually, can I share something? Since my first post here we've had family emergency and a few not so fun things have been added to this trip I already planned. At least they were kind enough to put it the day before the con so I could still go but gosh it's gonna be weird to go straight from such things to con mode. But I think it will hopefully be a breath of fresh air for me.
I hope I can meet some of you lovely people and still have an awesome time! I'm still very excited :3nodding:

    25. There is SO MUCH to be said for the small world of the doll community, despite how we may be spread, geographically. (In all honesty, we were wondering if our CO attendees knew each other at all, since it seems so random to us as we see the registrations come in.)

I'm sorry to hear about the added family/not-fun-things and really do hope that we can be a positive experience for you.

Speaking of positive-- we've got new donors and vendors updated on the website for anyone who hasn't checked recently!

    26. That is pretty funny! Out of curiosity have you guys gotten many other people planning on coming from out of state?
And thank you, I'm sure it will be! Life can always be made a bit better with dolls ;)

    27. There are some folks coming down from Washington (I think) and Oregon (definitely) as well as some coming up from the Los Angeles area (yeah, I know that Southern California is NOT out-of-state, but it certainly seems like it sometimes!). It's definitely been nice to see that we're not just going to see all of our (wonderful) Bay Area friends and collectors.

    28. Hi everybody--

I'd like to let attendees know that I will be coming (I haven't decided whether we will be driving or flying yet) from San Diego, and will be bringing all the CodeNoir goodies I can with me. As the US sales rep, I am able to bring anything CodeNoir has on their website, and I am happy to take requests. While I carry a lot of stock, I learned at my last BJD Con that it's much easier to bring items based on a theme, since my motto is "Try It On!" (Our table is a little bit messy--with space allotted just for collectors trying out outfits, wigs and shoes, you know.) So, in that case, it's way better if I bring multiples of fewer outfits. I'll be following the Dolloween theme of the convention, and I'll be helping your dollies dress up as Wonderland characters.

However, if you're looking for something specific that doesn't fit into this theme, or if you've got an outfit, wig or pair of shoes you've always wanted to try on your doll, please contact me (you can message me here or email me), and I'll be happy to order it and bring it along. I'll be placing my final order on October 1, 2016, so just be sure to let me know before then! (I just need to make sure it has time to arrive!)

    29. There's been a lot happening to get Resin Heart's Presents: This is Dolloween off the ground, and I'm totally using that as my excuse for not posting more updates here!

If you've been on the fence about vending, tonight is your LAST CHANCE to sign up! Next week, we're meeting with the venue to establish our table layout and put down the rest of our rental fee.

I'm also very pleased to announce that we have exceeded our initial pre-registrant push to 25 and all of the special goody bags will be allocated accordingly. That does NOT mean that pre-registration is closed! There is STILL TIME to pre-register and SAVE on at-the-door registration! As a member of the convention, you may participate in any (or all!) of our panels, workshops and contests, and be entered in the door prize drawing (and if you've been paying attention to the blog posts over on the website, you know just how generous the community has been in supporting us)! Don't wait! Pre-Register today!

And if you ARE thinking of entering the contests? Please let us know! You don't have to show us your entry; we just need to know if we will need extra space for displaying all the entrants.

I can't wait to see all of you in person! The count-down begins!

    30. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to make it!

Though I'm a bit curious about attendance, my husband would be taking me (essentially he's my ride since dollies don't interest him) so would we need to get him a ticket too? And most likely we'll have a babysitter, but just in case...how much are kid tickets (he's nine)? :XD:

    31. We very much hope that you'll be able to make it!

You bring up some good points that may be of interest to other attendees, potential or otherwise.

We would like to ask that anyone who will be in the facility during event hours purchase membership to the convention. However, we do not ask that you pay for a membership for children 10 years of age or younger, only that they be supervised/accompanied at all times.

If you have any questions about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM. As we get closer to the convention, I can't guarantee an immediate response, but I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner!

If, for some reason, you're STILL on the fence about attending, please check out the website and the (still increasing!) list of donors for door prizes that you have a chance of winning, just for showing up!

    32. I'm sad to say things have come up and I won't be able to attend. Sorry all, I hope I get to go next year!

    33. I'm really sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it :/

Fortunately, we ARE already talking about doing this next year! With more advanced planning, we're hoping that will help more people attend, vend, and plot and scheme for the contest entries!

    34. I know that I've mentioned this before, but if you're relying on this thread to keep you seriously up-to-date on the goings on as we are ONE WEEK AWAY from the convention then... you might be missing out! I just got back in town and finally have the time to share here the REALLY AWESOME news that we posted to the website before I left!

The artists of SWITCH have very generously donated a doll for us to give away as one of our door prizes. You can check out the photos over at the website!

We also have very few declared entries for the contests! Please be sure to contact us through the website to let us know that you will be participating so that we can ensure that there is enough space to display your amazing creations ^_^

    35. I'm so excited! I got the time off work, and they conveniently gave me a three day weekend so I can work on my contest entries. :celebrate

I haven't submitted on the website if I'll be joining the contests though, because so far they're 0% complete. :thumbup

Now I just have to figure out which dolls I'm bringing.

    36. Lucky! Mine are in pretty much the same condition (0% complete) but I am DETERMINED to get them done. I don't doubt that others are in the same boat, and I know that we had a lot of 'day-of' entrants last year.

As for which dolls? No idea, though there is always time for another Adori-reunion, even if it isn't super-planned in advance. I know some of us have the elves now, too... (but not sure if the weather will cooperate to get the face-up done O.o)

    37. This convention honestly could not come at a better time for me. After an extremely stressful last weekend (who am I kidding, stressful past 4 months), I'm in dire need of a relaxing, fun distraction. I am so looking forward to Saturday, I wish it was already here!

    38. So glad to hear that you're looking forward to joining us! I just spent the day packing all the goody bags for the vendors and our first 25 pre-registrants (only to remember that we don't have all of the printed material ready, so there is another round of bag-stuffing in my future O.o)

    39. I had a dream last night that when I flew out for the convention (headed to Cali tomorrow!!) I completely forgot to pack any clothes or wigs for my doll. Also when I arrived I realized that her strings were suddenly extremely loose (comically so) and I was too embarrassed to go to the con. I woke up all panicked :XD: I can't believe I had the doll equivalent of a coming to school naked dream! Obviously I'm really excited hahaha

    40. OMG! We are SO CLOSE! If you've been putting off Pre-registering to attend, the cut-off time is MIDNIGHT TONIGHT (midnight for California)

And for those of you who are among the first 25 pre-registrants? I'm finding more from our generous donors to go into your bags! Some of this is stuff that even I didn't know we were getting!

I can't wait to see everyone on Saturday... but for now, I really need to get back to those goody bags O.o

    41. Just finished practicing my photo workshop lesson plan and am packing my dolls now. Hope you're ready to learn how to be a better photographer, even if you're not a pro! 1 pm!

    42. Today's the day! Here at Resin Hearts Central, we're getting the cars loaded and getting ready to meet our vendors for set-up at 7am ^_^

The rest of you, we'll see starting at 9! Can't wait!

    43. is there a photo thread for photos from this event ? :)

    44. To the best of my knowledge, there is not (yet) a separate thread for photos for this event. I know that I haven't started one, at least, and my very brief venture into the galleries leads me to believe that there isn't one yet. If you have photos you'd like to share, you're welcome to start your own thread, or share to the facebook event page... or contact us through the website and we can maybe post some to our website in a blog post.

In other news... THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! It was great to see you all in person, to chat, to shop to admire all of the amazing contest entries... so great that we're already talking about what to do next year. Really, though, we wouldn't be able to even dream of a third year if it wasn't for the support of our vendors, donors and, of course our attendees. Everyone was just so amazing!

    45. I'm very excited to hear that a third year is already in discussion. I had a great time and got lots of items from the awesome vendors. Thanks to ALL OF THEM, the SPONSORS/DONORS, and of course the WONDERFUL LADIES WHO MADE THIS EVENT HAPPEN! An extra special thank you to the donors of the items in my door prize goodie bag - JAMIE'S BJD PROP SHOP FOR THE TWO-TONE TWIN-TAIL WIG (that's just fun to say), SPROUTY DOLL FOR THE SCRUMPTIOUS, GLITTERY, STARRY EYES, PLUM BLOSSOM'S CLOSET FOR THE CUTE LOLLIPOP SKIRT, and PLASTICA OBSURA FOR THE FUZZY WUZZY SHIRT! I've been inspired to work on some donations for next year's event.
