Eyes Resin eye critique

    1. Alright, this is my first set of successful (by which I mean not completely botched) resin eyes

      Opinions? Suggestions? Which set do you like? (It's for a heterochromatic eye set, you can see the character the doll will be based on in my profile pic, my own design) I've been using dyed uv resin and toothpicks to paint, on between 5-7 layers then creating a lense with clear resin. All The green ones glow in the dark

      It'd be cool if I could put an actual light in the eye, but idk how to do that.

    2. These are looking so good! I think the 5-7 layers is working really well for you, I really like the details in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th eye. The pupil in them is well defined and they are just really interesting. (Also love the sparkles)
      It looks like your having issues with resin over pour in the iris. It’s something I think you get the hang of mostly over time, but might I suggest also using the tooth pick for dripping in the resin. I usually do it drop by drop when finishing the eye.

    3. Oh I totally am having that issue lol. I tried toothpick for that also, but it seems to want to just...dribble one way or another, so I've been running my finger around the iris edge before sticking it under the UV. I just can't figure out why it wants to run off to one side or another. Maybe I'm building it up too high to begin with or maybe I accidentally get the base crooked?

    4. hello! these look so amazing. i love the ones with gradients in particular.

      in the last image, in the bottom two rows, the first from the left on each row are my favourites and i think they'd make a wonderful heterochromia pair. my absolute favourite is the green one, i could look at it forever cuz the colours are so pretty.

      I recall having seen a few BJDs with LEDs inside, particularly for glowing eyes! unfortunately i can't help you with the how, but i know it has been done. its possible that the LEDs were inside the head instead of the eyes though.

    5. You're doing a great job. I really like the 4th eye, the green with the more defined pupil.
