I might make this into a Samples thread for Smooth-On So Strong pigments once I get more photos. ATM I am trying to make Pink resin (For both non-dolling and dolls) but with the SSP I can only seem to make neon pink :\ I was hoping that with the white resin it would turn pink automatically, like it does a sky blue with the blue, a grey with the black, etc. I used about 3 drops of red for these: View attachment 170 I'm trying one drop with the same amount of resin but it looks the same :\ I could whip up a huge thing of resin with one drop (which I will try later) but I'm worried the effects would be the same as well. any thoughts?
Wow, that's some pink! Red is often a strong pigment in general, for some reason. Is there any way you could use a toothpick or something to take a smaller drop?
I know x___x omg why didn't I think of that lol! (I use toothpicks to color my fondants!) I will try that next! I pulled out this last set- you can kinda tell its lighter XD
ok here we go. View attachment 171 The top batch was with about 2 OZ resin and 3 drops red SSP. The 2nd batch was 2 OZ resin with 1 drops red SSP The 3rd batchs was 2 OZ resin with barely and SSP on a toothpick. I will be working with Blue and Purple for the next batches. Now I know what to do with the Pink, I'll put it in the pressure pot so I don't get any bubbles
Thank you for posting this! It's incredibly interesting to see- I might end up having to do some home colored casting for a class project so this is great reference. I admittedly love the first pink. I'm curious to see the other colors as well once you get to them!
I wonder how much you'd have t use to get pure red, or would you need to use a clear resin to get red and not just another version of pink?
You're welcome Hermes! I think blue shall be next today :B If I start early I can do both Cloudedmind: probably quite a bit more. The only problem with that however is the more SSP used the more it reacts with resin and you get more bubbles. I will do an experiment and try for twice the ssp as the first batch and see how that goes (with pressure pot)
