Props Repurposing Gaming Miniatures as Doll Props?

Aug 11, 2023

    1. Hello, All!

As the title suggests, I was wondering about the feasibility of doing this kind of thing. I know gaming miniatures (think Warhammer, DnD, etc.) can run a bit small, but the lovely finds among them just kind of stood out to me.

What would be the minimum size a miniature would have to be to “look good” with a standard range of BJD sizes (1/16, YoSD, 1/3, etc.)? Also, if applicable, what are some cool gaming miniature finds that have been useful for your dolls?

      Thank you for any input!

    2. Since people collect figures of all sizes, I feel like most gaming miniatures could work for any size doll, it would just alter what type of figure it would be to them. For 1/3 scale SDs, a ~1" Warhammer mini would look more like a smaller action figure, for 1/8 scale tinies it would look like a large toy.

For other types of miniatures, like Re-Ment, I've found that they work best with tinies (1/8 scale) or mature tinies (1/6 scale, like Barbies).

    3. There's a lot of cool miniatures that I'd love to have in doll size, but as they are 28 or 32 mm scale, they're way too small. Even for a tiny doll, they wouldn't look like in-scale items. As has already been said, they could work as toys, but otherwise, unless you can convince the printer to make them larger, they probably won't work with bjds.

Which is super disappointing, honestly. I'd love to build a whole house of dnd props for my dolls.
