Feb 24, 2014

1. Registration is closing June 15th, so if you intend to go, not much time left. Hope to see you there!

Hi, everyone, just a reminder, we are open for registration.

This year's theme is Midnight on the Midway. The dates for the BJDC 2014 are July 31, Aug. 1, and 2, 2014.
Join us on iDolls, a yahoo list for organizing the convention.

At the heart of this year's convention is the circus. But think of the circus from year's past - the circus, the carnival and the midway. The carnie's arrive and then poof, the tents seem to go up as if by magic. The night circus full of mystery, unusual people and odd creatures. Perhaps you will want take a stroll down Steampunk Alley, try your luck at the shell game or slip in to have your fortune told. Let your imagination carry you away to the carnival.

The cost is $150 which includes a meal event each day. There will be workshops and presentations, contests, door prizes, and lots of fun. There will also be an optional convention doll available for purchase. We expect to announce the artist soon. We hope to see you there! We have a room block in the hotel with special rates. If you come with a roommate (or several) the price is very reasonable.

Optional Convention Doll

French artist Asella will be the creator of the optional 2014 convention doll. We will have photos of the prototype soon and her purchase will be handled through JPop Dolls. We are also very happy to announce that Asella will also be at the convention. Here is a link to an article in BJDCollectasy about Asella and her dolls: http://bjdcollectasy.com/2012/04/08/noble-dolls/

2. Are we allowed to discuss this topic here?
I would love to attend this! It would be amazing to meet some of the vendors and artists, but since I live in San Antonio I might only be able to make it for a day or two. Is there any way to get a pass for one day? I would hate to pay $150 for a 3 day convention and miss out on 2/3 of it :(

3. This convention is a traditional doll convention, more like the fashion doll conventions than the anime-type conventions, so we do not have day passes, but on Saturday August 2, the sales floor will be free and open to the public, so if you aren't able to attend the convention, you could come on Saturday.

4. I went 2 years ago, it was really nice, so many people and lots of goodies to add to my collection.

5. I was there in '12 and it was a lot of fun. The hotel has a shuttle to the airport. Everything is right there--I think I only paid for one meal, the rest were covered by the various convention snacks and banquets and such. The lobby was full of doll people sitting and chatting. The sales room was great! I spent far too much there and it was great seeing doll artists and prototypes and accessories and clothes, etc.

6. I am so excited for this con! It will be my first doll con, and even though I can really only attend on Saturday during the open sales floor day, I am still utterly delighted to attend in some way.

Now that I know the convention-doll is a Noble Doll, and seeing the vendor list, I will need to save some more money!

7. UGH so jealous! xD I wish this was a month or two later so I could attend! My sister lives in Austin so I could have stayed with her >o< School will be finishing up around that time, though, so it's not really an option this year @__@
Oh well, you guys have fun and hopefully I'll be attending next year! <3

8. Ooh I might be able to attend if I can convince my fiancé to go with me! <3

9. Oh wow, I have missed some really big news! I think I will have to spend the entire day saturday in the dealers room, it will be amazing to meet Asella, Daisy, and Grace :fangirl:

10. I'm planning on attending on that Saturday :) Haven't been to BJDC since 2010~

11. I remember going when I first started collecting ( I think it was in 2009?) Wonderful friendly people and so many things to buy LOL. My schedule never allowed for me to attend again unfortunately, but we moved to Austin last fall and I am excited to see it is not too far from my house:) Yay!!!!

12. My sister lives in Austin and I have informed her she will be having company because I'm going to be there on Saturday. My first time being around BJD people.

13. Im definately planning on going. Ive missed so many meetups and conventions its heartbreaking. I went to BJDC a few years ago and had so much fun just looking through the dealers room. Its like mall shopping....for bjds! Now....keeping my fingers crossed and praying my work doesnt try to interfere. AGAIN!

14. I will be attending, either on Saturday or for the whole con ...haven't decided yet :)
Anyone registering?
Looking forward to meeting those of you who attend!

15. I will be attending and am so excited after a four year break from the hobby! The Austin group really knows how to put together a great convention! Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

16. hello keepcalmcollectdolls: i think the registration ends soon, something like june 15th......
i went to the cons in 07,08 and 2012. it was wonderful seeing so many nice bjd related items and other people who love bjds! i have registered for this year's con, as well. can't wait!

17. Bumping thread to remind everyone that registration is closing June 15th because we have a deadline with the hotel to set final numbers.

18. I'm a bit confused. I apologize for my ignorance regarding this matter, but will the artists such as Lillycat and Asella not have booths at the Sales Floor on either day? Will they only be at the special Artists sales booth on Friday?

19. Is anyone going to wear a name tag with your username on it? I will be meeting some people there that I’ve talked to online (DoA/Tumblr/Flickr/Etc), but this might make it easier for people to find each other.

20. Beansproutmomo, I'll probably wear one. It's my first year attending and I don't know anyone so it sounds like a good idea. xD

21. Made mine today, so I'll be sure to wear it. ^_^
It's my first year attending as well~

22. I posted some photos I took at the con on my tumblr. Is there a photo gallery on DoA they could be posted to as well? :D
