At the start of June, I ordered a Gem of Doll Coraline through Alice's Collections. I've been getting more and more excited for the doll and checking both Alice's website and my email for a shipping notice.... Today I got up from my afternoon nap, and there she was! I wasn't even asked to sign. Alice's website still lists the order as "processing". This isn't the first time this has happened to me! When I ordered my very first bjd, the estimated ship time came and went, so I emailed them asking when I could expect a tracking number. Less than an hour later, the doll showed up! I do worry about this happening again... What if the doll gets lost in shipment and I find out months later? Has this happened to anyone else? Are there any ways to avoid this happening again?
Yep! Happened with ACBJD actually too. I was so confused as I wasn't expecting to see him for another few months. But whoop there he was. I don't think there's much you can do to be honest. I think that some companies just ship out from their workshop and not through ACBJD, I know Souldoll does.
This actually does happen from time to tome... I've had it happen both for dolls ordered directly from companies and from dealers. Actually, I think the times I didn't receive shipping notices from a dealer were all for dolls ordered through Alice's Collection. They did update the shipping status later after I'd already received my orders. I guess they shipped quicker than they could update the site? For company orders, I've had the shipping notice emails arrive weeks after the delivery, namely for Luts. Though the shipping status on Luts' site was updated to shipping and had a tracking number when I decided to check my status at around the estimated shipping time. I've also experienced not receiving any shipping email at all even though the shipping status was updated on the company sites, namely DollPamm's old site and Dearmine. But for these cases, I've found out that it seems like I'm just unable to receive emails in general from those sites, as I didn't receive any order confirmation emails either. Both sites seem to be hosted on Naver. I guess you just have to keep track of when your orders are estimated to ship and ask about the status if needed.
If you are in the US / receiving parcels through USPS, you can set up "Informed Delivery" notifications to get text or email alerts whenever you have a package incoming to your address. Most EMS and international mail that's not DHL will go through them. I think this is how ACBJD ships (orders also arrive to me without notice from Alice - it's not just you, seems to be how they do business), so subscribing to those alerts would help in that case. If the site you're shopping from does DHL / FedEx / UPS you can probably set up a similar subscription to alerts through them too. If you're not in the US, hopefully other countries/ mail services would offer something similar. Edit to clarify: the alerts can't tell you which order / the contents of the parcel, sometimes I don't get specific sender information even, just that something is making its way to my address. You can check the origin in the tracking info to get a hint, but if you have multiple out-standing orders through Alice, Souldoll, Soom, ForMyDoll, whoever - then yeah, you may see Korea and not know exactly which one is coming in, but at least you can approve the delivery or tell the Post Office to hold it until you can pick it up from the counter service.
I have worked with Alice for several years by buying through her and I think she’s a good dealer but I think the reason for not always getting a tracking number, she said some doll companies do not send to her first but send the doll straight to the buyer to cut down on shipping time and she may not know when the doll was shipped if they don’t always update her on a tracking number but she’s also good about giving you an answer if you email her with any questions that you have.
I have had one Alice Collections order show up with no shipping notice. It just zoomed to the USA faster than AC got around to e-mailing tracking numbers. My recent order with IOS got shipped without an e-mail notice. I only saw it shipped because I was getting impatient and checking the website every day.
I’ve had this happen a couple of times with LUTS and Granado respectively. Both were during the height of Covid lockdowns, so I thought maybe they were holding off on sending notifications because packages were super delayed.
Thanks for the info everyone! I did order wigs and shoes that weren't from Gem of Doll, so I do think Alice handled the package at some point since they did come with the doll. I forgot to say it in my opening post, but the first doll company I ordered from was Resinsoul.
Alice’s shipping notices sometimes also go to your spam folder. That happened for one of my previous orders.
I also had this happen with some Alice's Collections orders, although for orders with longer manufacturing times, I usually ask them to confirm my address before they ship it (since it's always possible I'll end up moving in the meantime). This does have the added benefit that I'll at least know when my order is going to be shipped soon.
I've had it happen through Alice, and also with Supia and....I think someone else, but I can't remember. I'm actually wondering if my ResinSoul Dai or Zaoll Ramie shipped with no notice...my Informed Delivery has started showing a mystery package that doesn't match anything I have tracking on already. And it's taking some wild detours, and just keeping me in suspense! I'm hoping it gets turned around soon so I can stop worrying about it.
