Received the wrong doll from DDE

Mar 21, 2021

    1. Not certain what to do now since I received Doll Chateau Bella 2 instead of Bella 1. I only waited 8 months to receive the wrong doll. Also, her COA is blank. How does that happen???

    2. Blank CoAs aren't an unusual thing with DC... but definitely contact DDE about getting the wrong doll. That's just NOT a good thing.

    3. I agree that you should contact DDE about it. I've been ordering through them for years and have had only good experiences.

    4. I emailed them. I hope to just get a refund and not have to deal with pre-orders again. I don't want to wait that long again. They should have checked the doll when she came in. It's not hard to tell she's the wrong one. :/

    5. Oh no. Isn't that the one with the extravagant face painting? Hope they allow a return.

    6. Yeah. She has deep red lips and I personally don't like it compared to Bella 1.

    7. I bought one of the instock dolls from dde, a luts senior delf my choice girl. And she was advertised on the type 1 body. I bought her a bunch of clothes based on that body, only to find out when she got here she had a different body all together. I hope the clothes I ordered fit her. I belive she's a type 2, but she could be a type 3...

I agree with you that they need to check the boxes. They can't do anything about blank coa's, but making sure the right doll was recieved and ordered is a bare minimum of their business. I hope they get back to you very shortly.

    8. First off, it is understandable to be upset, especially after waiting that long for a doll just to find out they sent the wrong one. The CoA being blank is most likely because of the company. I've had it happen a couple of times where a company was too busy to fill out a CoA or filled it out wrong (like when I requested it remained blank/had my husband's name on it instead of mine because it was to be a present). Unfortunately, there are times a dealer will not check a box thoroughly enough. However, it is not your fault that this issue has occurred and you should get what you ordered (or reach an agreement on compensation for not receiving what you ordered). It is also important to leave feedback for the dealer (and the company if it turns out it was a company error) giving all of the facts/details of what happened within their feedback threads here.

To be honest, while it does happen on occasion (because we are human and humans make errors) it is not something that frequently happens within the hobby.

    9. I will say that it is also entirely possible that DDE made no ordering errors and the incorrect faceup came from Doll Chateau. They're kinda known for having faceup issues. I've seen plenty of threads where people order DC dolls with faceup and it doesn't come out like the stock sample at all.

All said good luck, though. Perhaps if DDE gives you a partial refund you can commission an artist to repaint her, as at least it is the sculpt you ordered.

    10. This is pretty weird! Did you contact them?

    11. No worries, I recently received a similar incorrect pre-order myself. I contacted the dealer (not DDE fyi) who then contacted the company and got it all sorted out. They're still humans and errors may happen.

As long as it doesn't happen every time and they remain helpful and polite they won't hear a complaint from me.

I'll root that you'll soon have your precious BJD home with you or receive a refund if you so desire.

    12. It always surprises me when stuff like this happens. Been in the hobby since 2015, and I've never had an order come in wrong (once the caster sent the artist not what I ordered, but the artist sold it in-stock and has ordered me a new doll--plus she was a nonstandard resin colour, despite that the artist has like 5-6 standard colours, and then I think 1 limited colour going on when I ordered, so 0 shade there!)

Waiting 8 months for the wrong doll would be massively devastating, and I hope they're able to solve this--maybe this is another case of getting a Bella 1 and a Bella 2, and accidentally shipping to the wrong owners. Either way I don't think it's an overreaction. From their end, I'm sure they don't mess up many orders--I've ordered a few times, and they've always gotten it right, but on your end, you've made one order, and it took a long time, and came in wrong, so I can totally get that you're feeling. Hopefully there's a happy ending here for you!

    13. Yes, definitely contact them! Sometimes they goof and put the order in wrong. I had an issue where the doll I ordered (with a limited event head) came with the wrong skin tone, and immediately contacted them. They were able to contact the company to get the correct skin tone doll to me about a month later, with a prepaid shipping label to send the "wrong" one back.

Also, you do not sound like you're "flipping out", you just sound disappointed and sad and simply asking what to do next.

    14. How devastating! I'd be disappointed too; that's a long time to wait for the wrong doll. I hope you can get it fixed, you're within your right to ask DDE to help you get the item you paid for!

    15. Apparently what happened was they got multiple orders for Bella 2 and I think Doll Chateau sent the wrong doll. They gave me two options but I'd rather not wait so I will be getting a full refund. I will order from DDE again. They have been nice the whole time. I don't take anything against them for this, but i'm happy they worked things out with me. She will be shipped back tomorrow morning.

    16. @CyberKitty I'm glad everything worked out. And still sad for your first waiting experience. It isn't always like this. I hope you have a better one next time.

    17. I'm sorry this happened to you but I am glad DDE is able to help you. I've had a similar experience going through a different retailer and a different doll company. I wasn't sent what I paid for but the retailer did work really hard to make things right for me. It's always a major sting, especially after you've waited months to have your doll come home and it's not as it should be.

I'm glad you can get a refund! Do you think you will reorder Bella 1? At least you got an idea about her sculpt now having gotten the wrong one - I am assuming the sculpt is the same and just the face up is different.

As far as how you handled it, I think you did just fine! Some people on here constantly have to be a Grinch but the majority of us are here to help. All of us have probably had similar experiences, be it broken doll parts, wrong items, pre-orders that did not live up to the hype, etc. We're here to help each other. Yes, sometimes we need someone to help talk us down off the cliffside, but you were nowhere near that in your initial posts.

I hope you won't give up on the hobby just because of this experience. I think there are other retailers who sell Doll Chateau who might have in stock dolls you could look at, if you're still interested in that brand!

    18. I hope to find Bella 1's head with faceup again. Someone sold one a couple months ago but since I had mine coming I didn't buy. I won't quit the hobby. I have another doll on preorder that the company is making especially for me since I missed the release window, I'm sure that one will come out good. I don't think they'd rush on it. At least I hope not. lol

    19. I had a similar issue with a littlefee order form DDE (ordered Pipi, received Piki) but they fixed it - tht was as simple as Fairyland sending me (direct) the correct faceplate - perhaps Doll Chateau could send you a the correct head/faceup to swap out for the wrong one.

    20. Oh I do like Teddy's idea! It might be worth asking, for future instances since I know you are returning this one.

    21. They said they could order the replacement head but I would have to wait awhile. I'm sure someone will be selling her someday. :) If they decide to discontinue her sculpt I'll order her head with faceup.

    22. The annoying thing was that my wrong-doll issue happened over 10 years ago and DDE are still receiving th wrong dolls from companies and sending them out to customers without checking them.

You'd think they'd have done something about what is obviously a recurring problem.

Even if it isn't an issue with them ordering the wrong doll from the company in the first place, they could CHECK the dolls they receive before sending them on to the customers.

    23. Reviving this thread - I purchased an in-stock Hedy, and... pretty sure I got a Hily? Hedy has teeth. This doll looks more like a Hily.
I emailed them - it's quite possible whoever packed my order didn't realize the difference. The names are really similar too.
Guess I'll wait and see what they say.
