Maintenance Re-stringing a Unoa Second/Unoa 2

Jun 6, 2023

    1. The head has come off my Unoa 2 Cream doll, and I can't for the life of me work out the stringing. She didn't come with a leaflet so I can't check if there are any instructions there, and googling has been no help.

There seems to be a hole in the neck but it's really narrow and I don't think she was strung properly to begin with, but it's been so long since the head came off, I can't remember how it went - but I do know it was very floppy. I was thinking of restringing anyway but it's really not intuitive and I can't see a way forward.

Many thanks in advance for any help here.

    2. Hrm, can you show us some pictures of her and the body? I haven't owned a Unoa 2, but I've had a lot of other dolls and so have other people, so we could probably help you figure it out.
One other option is to try asking in the Discussion thread for her sculpt and size, where other people with the same doll might know more.

    3. I have one with her instructions, so I took a picture of them for you. They are SUPER weird honestly. You're supposed to insert a short loop of thin elastic into the neck hole and thread the arm strings through it. All of the string channels are too thin to use the size string you would usually want to use for a 1/4 scale doll. She is super floppy even when freshly restrung.

    4. @Glace Leau Thanks so much! I'll take a look at it...I've been in the hobby 18 years, and have about 60 bjds, but this is hands down the weirdest stringing I've seen...

@Rosslyn I was going to do that but the Unoa2 discussion thread seems to be moribund sadly...and desperation brought me here.

    5. Oh dear, well definitely post pics once you can, and I'm sure together we may be able to figure out either how she was strung or a new way to do it. There's power in the internet group collaboration.

      Edit:

Oh gosh, looking at these instructions! You weren't kidding! Not that I ever thought you were but holy COW. I've never seen much like it either, except some parts of Iplehouse hips... It does look like you need a sort of metal folded pin as a threading tool. I assume maybe you don't have one but some wire could be used to make two of them.
