I have a some LaDoll clay from a year ago that I kept sealed in a bag, but it has since begun drying out and is unworkable....it's probably about in a leather hard stage I would say. I dipped a portion of the brick in water and then wrapped it in a wet paper towel to try to reconstitute it. After letting it sit overnight, it's become a little more pliable, but the core of the brick is still pretty stiff. Am I on a fool's errand trying to reconstitute it? Or is there maybe a better way to go about it? I really dislike wasting clay, because it's pretty expensive at our local hobby supply.
When I have a bunch of paperclay that needs to be reused I break it up into small chunks then let it sit in water until it's mushy and just let it sit out for a couple days until the excess water evaporates. I'd imagine this would work close to the same for Ladoll, just use less water? The main thing to do though is get it into small chunks.
I had the same problem with my ladoll, so I sliced it into cubes (yay for kitchen knives!) and threw it in a new plastic bag with some water. Let it sit for a while, and keep squishing it inside the bag, should be good as new!
Sweet, great ideas, I'll try cutting it into cubes next time and let it mull in some water. It will probably go a lot faster than swaddling it in wet paper towel. XP
