Raccoon Doll Discussion

Sep 19, 2018

    1. Hi, I couldn’t find a thread dedicated to discussing Raccoondoll’s SD size head project so started this thread as a place to talk about these lovely sculpts :). Raccoondoll has released 3 limited head sculpts so far... “A”, Gene and Hugh. Gene and Hugh are currently on offer until September 30th. I’m not sure what body the boys would use but Raccoondoll recommended Iplehouse SIDw or EIDw for Gene.
      HEAD PROJECT - SD head

    2. Yes, i like gene head, she even have a sleeping head but limited =)))

      • x 1
    3. Gene is a favorite of mine too :). I wish the limited sleeping head was available in the larger SD size... it was very well done.

    4. I see, raccon doll just tag limited in gene normal head, sleeping head not limited

      • x 1
    5. Did anyone else order any of these heads? I just got a shipping notice for Gene

    6. Congrats on shipping notice :). I actually got my SD Gene head today... yay! She is blank but I plan on uploading photos sometime in the next day or so with different size eyes.

    7. Here are some quick photos of Gene. I will try her out on an iplehouse SIDw body later this week and post photos as well as comparison photos with the original fashion size Gene.
Gene is in NS resin wearing a monique gold wig 6/7 - ita snug fit but I prefer it that way. Her eyes are Glib glass oval eyes size 10mm.

    9. Congratulations @PennyDes :whee:

Shes very beautiful! I noticed that you also have a Mari, what do you think of them together?

I really love how detailed the sculpt looks, and really really love the nose shape :love thank you for mentioning the eyes..... its very difficult to gauge good eye sizes for the realistic dolls, I must look up glib later.

Cant wait to see your photos in the weekend

I hope that the next SD head series we see Mika or Momo. I wanted to get white skin but I was told it wasnt a match for Iplehouse white, that RD is more true white so I got a normal like you :)

    10. Thank you :). Has yours arrived yet? I’m beginning to think not many people bought the SD sized heads.
Glib is great... unfortunately the realistic glass oval eyes are not very easy to find. I get mine off of Fleurdelys online shop. Here is a link as it’s hard to find without having the exact name http://fleurdelysdoll.com/en/8711-o...-jointed-doll-lati-yellow-iplehouse-doll.html
Mari and Gene have some similarities. Mari has a cheerful look to her while Gene looks a bit more somber. I will post a comparison photo sometime :thumbup.
So here is Gene on an Iplehouse SIDw original body. The PG body with the white dress is not modified and the NS body is the one I modified for Souldoll Briseas. The original SID neck looks a bit thick for her jawline. The modified SID neck has a better thickness but needs to be built up with a cotton ball to be the right height. I think she may look more at home on a nYID or New SIDw since her face is small. Also, those bodies have a slightly thinner neck than SID original. I wonder how she would look on a Supia Doll or April Sory body?

Also in the collage is a head lineup to compare sizes. Iplehouse EID Asa is on the left, Souldoll Zenith Swinte is in the middle and SD Raccoon Doll Gene on the right. Please forgive the lousy quality of the photos... I took them quick and in poor lighting.
I would definitely love to see Mika as a an SD head :thumbup. Latisha would be high on my list too.

Im very surprised she isnt more popular, I think its only me and you who got her on the boards :? I hope not, I want this to be popular so we get more heads lol

I got this body originally to use for SoulDoll Agnes but she hasnt arrived yet so Gene is using it
I think Ill have a hard time giving it to Agnes once she arrives, because I love how Gene looks on it XD
Its the new SID model body in normal skin tone, no modification needed, she fits exactly on it, just like you said she would :kitty1

Im surprised that Mari is cheerful in comparison  I always thought Mari had that "dont look at me" kind of face, like an elite popular celebrity

I would love to see them together whenever it is good for you, for curiosity because im debating to stay with gene or get either Mari or Aria. This is all for the very distant future though, Ive gone way over budget and this does not need to repeat itself in the near future :doh:vein plus I feel Ive already asked too much of you already, and you were always kind enough to help @PennyDes

I just looked up Laetitia (I had to rewrite that name 4 times, western names are sometimes difficult siobhan / sean its written and pronounced different to me lol)

monochrome version of her is very daring and beautiful, I would be happy for them if they made her SD size also!

    12. @GreenTeaSlug Oh wow she looks phenomenal on the new SID body and all done up too! Thanks for sharing the photo. It's making me second guess not getting the new SID body now. It may end up on my wishlist after all :D.
It does seem we are alone here on this thread doesn't it :aeyepop:. I hope it not a reflection on the sale of the SD sized heads and more people actually bought them :eusa_pray.

I can definitely see the hauty facial expression you mention on many Mari heads. Mine was painted with a more cheerful mouth :). My Mari is FID size so I took a photo of her next to my original small Gene. Since it can be helpful in comparing the large size versions it shouldn't be considered off topic :thumbup. They look identical to their larger counterparts. Please forgive the poor quality of the photo and I hope it will be helpful for you. I enjoy helping if and when I can so please don't hesitate to ask :).
I hope you can decide between Gene, Mari and Ari. It sounds like a tough decision especially with how stunning your gene is.
Going over budget is never fun... unfortunately the wide selection of great sculpts it can happen all too easy :XD:.
I look forward to more Gene photo spam :).

    14. I saw the release of the new Daisy and came looking for a discussion thread! I passed on Gene because I have two in the smaller size but Daisy is calling to me!

      • x 2
    15. Daisy looks awsome! I'm so happy to see RD is continuing the SD head series. If you do get her will you be getting a faceup or doing one yourself?

    16. Daisy - SD head
SD Daisy has such a "classic beauty" look about her. All I can think of is the Botticelli painting "the birth of venus". She doesn't look like her but does share the same vibe.

    17. I will get the faceup! I don't get enough time to work on faceups! I would be interrupted too often.

      • x 1
    18. I wish I had gotten SD Gene with a faceup... I never end up getting around to painting and the blank heads are starting to pile up .

      • x 1
    19. I've been sending blank heads out for faceups but with the cost of the faceup and shipping, the Raccoon faceup is a bargan!

      • x 2
    20. Oops, I somehow missed your last post :aeyepop::doh. I agreee, Raccoon faceups are definitely a bargain and so well done too :)

      • x 1
    21. My Daisy arrived a few days ago but she hasn't chosen eyes or found a body to borrow yet! The faceup is lovely! Did anyone else get her?

    22. Hello!
I ordered a Gene and an "A" mid December so I'm joining the thread. I got a faceup on A but I will do Gene's myself. I got a large neck opening for "A" so I hope he can fit on a Dollshe Arsene body. I already have a headless new SID NS I bought secondhand for Gene. She will become a humble coffee shop girl when her head arrives but her headless body is pretty uninhibited right now!
@mahgiep on Instagram: “My headless girl arrived today. I see trouble ahead. Why are the headless girls so uninhibited? Oh right, no frontal lobe! #headlessdoll…”

      • x 1
    23. I'm joining this thread as well. I just ordered a Gene earlier this week and will try to put on her on a Feeple65 body (which is also not yet home, but soon!). I'm hoping the color match is close enough and the proportions are not too off, but we shall see! The photos in this thread were helpful in making my choice. She might not be put together until sometime next year, but I can start making clothes for her once her body is in. If Gene's face/head is too small for the voluptuous F65 body, I might just do a head swap with my IH nSID Yui in gNS since Yui's face is a bit on the longer side.

Also @Mahgiep, I really enjoy your stories with Jina, so that helped tip me over the edge to get my own Gene~

    24. Awww! Thanks @VeraLyne for letting me know. She is a very versatile sculpt so I can't wait to see what you do with her. I am about to try an IH hybrid on a Supia 65 body (she just got her flight number!) so I am also wondering if it will be too voluptuous! It's so interesting that even though heads measure the same and have the same size eye sockets, some look too big or too small on a body.

    25. I hope this is the thread I can post my first doll in!
He's a Raccoon Doll Kai sculpt with company face up and a wig from there. He is so very, very pretty. However he is so very difficult to clothe. Does anyone have online retailer suggestions?

    26. Wow did anyone see the new Raccoon Doll announcement about a SD line? As a SD collector I'm beyond excited, I wonder which sculpts will be available? I'm a huge fan of Lea but I don't think she's overly popular..

      • x 2
    27. I have 2 RD SD heads that I love (Gene and A). Looking forward to seeing the new dolls!

      • x 2
    28. Facethefake, the forum for your beautiful Kai is the "Raccoon Doll Discussion" page: /threads/raccoon-doll-discussion-part-5.800198/page-50
You can hopefully find some ideas of sources of clothing for the mini (51cm) size there :thumbup

Yuna-Ki, I also think Lea is lovely. I too wonder if she will be an SD sculpt, and what body shape will be introduced.

Mahgiep, A is lovely, and I think Raccoon's Hugh is too. Does your A have a body as yet?

      • x 2
    29. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!

    30. My SD Gene head has a flight number! :3nodding: Now it just needs to make the flight, through customs, and USPS. I had been spoiling myself with my recent purchases by paying for premium shipping, so going through normal EMS will need some re-acclimating. In any case, I am looking forward to the new SD line to be released.

    31. @VeraLyne Are you planning on one of the new bodies for your Gene? Or do you have other plans?

    32. @Mahgiep I had ordered an Fairyland Feeple65 body over the summer in a split, and my Gene is planned for that body at the moment. I am curious about the Raccoondoll SD line since I'm on the hunt for a guy. My crew, perhaps somewhat similar to you, are all Asian except for my one guy I have. So I am looking to add an Asian guy to my crew and am hoping that RD might have something that piques my interest.

    33. @VeraLyne I could be in trouble if you are right!

      • x 1
    34. She's here (or was here, I've already sent her off to get her faceup)! She took 65 calendar days (including over major holidays) to make it home, which I feel is incredibly fast. Maybe I've just been tempered by other companies.

My shipping box had a tear on the side, but her main box didn't appear to be breached. I was a bit worried that she might have gotten damaged by a customs inspection or something.

I'm so excited for when she's all put together. The resin match is not that close, but it's not bad either.

    36. It's been a while since anyone has posted here, but I figured I'd try asking since Raccoondoll has yet to answer my inquiry.

What exactly in cm is the circumference of these heads, and their neck holes? The "3.5cm X 3.6cm" for neck hole size listed in the site is not exactly helpful (how am I going to accurately calculate with TWO diameters?). This is for preferably Daisy, but I'm happy to get a gist for any of the available heads.

      Edited out some errors, whoops!

    37. I took some quick photos. I think it could be argued that the anterior to posterior axis could be a little longer. I also tried to measure the circumference the best I could.

    38. Oh @VeraLyne you are a godsend, thank you! <3 Just half an hour ago Raccoondoll confirmed that the noggin's circumference was indeed around 21cm. Your pictures convinced me that the Daisy hybrid I'm planning just might work, since they have similar measurements to one of my Iplehouse SID/EID heads. Even if Daisy's neck hole is too big, I've learned how to make apoxie neck adapters for the purpose.

    39. @VeraLyne - I'm late to the game, but those photos are very, very helpful when trying to determine what will work for a hybrid. Thanks for posting these!

    42. I recently received my lovely 62cm RaccoonDoll Lara.
Her listing photos were so pretty that I ordered my gal in the
sweet mocha resin with one of the pictured wigs. I’m very
pleased with how she was painted too, love the long nailed
hands and her lithe body. I hope to have her hands manicured
in the future. Just finished making a medieval gown for her in
      slinky dance fabric.

    43. resurrecting this thread to show a couple of gowns that I’ve made for
my RaccoonDoll 62cm gals. During 2025 I was able to get a second
beautiful gal - my Jyoti - also in sweet mocha resin. Both of them
now have Amadiz angora wigs and have their lovely, expressive
      hands manicured too.

Their gowns are silk - Jyoti’s is ivory dupioni - Lara’s turquoise gown
is a lightweight habotai silk with French silk ribbon trim. I made their
necklaces with moss agate drops taken from people earrings (etsy)
with moss agate beads, tiny Swarovski crystals, and sterling chain.

    44. So beautiful Robyn! I love Jyoti - both girls look lovely!

    45. Thanks so much @nancy_schroeder_ca !!
Thanks lots @LyanneNZ !!! I adore Jyoti too - here are a couple of pix
of her in the first dress I’d made for her on her arrival.
I think these RaccoonDoll gals are rather under-valued - their faces and bodies
are beautifully sculpted - as are their long nailed hands!

    46. Your Anna is lovely @Mahgiep ! You did a brilliant job with her face paint too!!
And wow - you made her eyes - I’m so jealous of that skill. Congrats!!

    47. @Robyn_in_WA thank you so much! I’ve just started making eyes and stil struggle with bubbles! But hopefully I will get better!

    48. You are making me want a 1/3 scale Raccoon doll :) Her hands are indeed beautiful!

...and they are lovely eyes Mahgiep! So challenging to make eyes.

    49. I hope that you do get one of RaccoonDoll’s 62cm gals @LyanneNZ ! I think you’d
love their realism - beautiful body with great proportionality. No super skinny arms
or overly long legs here. And the bust is very realistic - no ugly basketballs. I do
wish they’d offer the solid thigh tho - as I just don’t care for the break and don’t need it.
Whoever their painters are - they do wonderful work too!! And I love their new ship
method - the dolls arrive well padded in a tube in a box - so much less ship cost!!

      • x 3
    50. @Robyn_in_WA Wow RD dolls are even more beautiful in your pictures! The sweet mocha resin is absolutely gorgeous and I love the dresses you made for them! How do they pose compared to Iplehouse?

    51. Thanks so much for your lovely compliment @sageyufi ! The sweet mocha resin color
is my favorite altho the ns is nice too.
I like the posing of the RaccoonDoll gals quite well - they’re very sturdy standing and
sit easily. Their arms allow hands up to face and stay ‘up’ well if that is desired.
However, I can’t speak to what some folks seem to want as my dolls don’t do
crazy gymnastics or funky positions. I’m one of those people who also likes the
Iplehouse doll - well - except for some of their wonky ankles on the older ones.

    52. I wanted to share a second ivory silk dupioni dress that I just finished for
Lara. I received so many lovely compliments on the sleeves on Jyoti’s
dress and on the fitted bodice of Lara’s turquoise dress that I thought I’d
try combining the two parts. Lara’s new dress is the result. I used a
second shade of the lovely French silk trim ribbon on this dress and
lengthened the sleeves a bit and added the trim to the wrist too.

sadly, I didn’t have enough of the silk trim to add it to the skirt hem tho…
      [IMG]

      • x 8
    53. @Robyn_in_WA Gorgeous!!! The detailed trims and the tailoring is just chef's kiss! I'm crazy about the sleeves and bodice :love

    54. That's really beautiful - it looks so lovely on your model too.

    55. Thanks so much @sageyufi !! I’m so glad that I decided to combine the two patterns!
I wish that I had bought more of that elegant French silk trim, sadly getting low now.

Thanks lots @LyanneNZ ! Even tho silk can be a bit fiddly, the results seem worth
      the extra effort to me.
