By the way everyone, I asked if Raccoondoll would post pictures of the blank Juliet head in the gallery, and they said they will. I feel like the face-up makes the eyes look even bigger, so I'm curious to see her blank.

Hi there! i recently bought a raccoon doll body secondhand for a minifee head i have. I love the body but this is my first time having an msd sized doll with hips as wide as she has, and none of my current clothes fit. I was wondering if people have go to places to find pants or shorts for the bodies?

 

Yumi shipped! She’s blank. Can’t wait to do her faceup and her boyfriend Garam (Rugged Realism Rites of Passage Aquilo) is beside himself. His story is they met online and she was going to Harvard Medical school in the US, graduated recently and is coming home to Seoul to intern. They will be meeting in person for the first time!
I got her earrings and the new red top. I’m trying to remember if she comes with bonus jeans….?

 

Just in case anyone was wondering if there will be other heads for the Raccoon kid doll (in scale with Raccoon women): I asked Raccoon on Instagram, and he said he will make a more mature looking sculpt for the kid body. . Good news.

 

Very good news! even though the current head is compatible with some of my other dolls, I just don't like it!

 

Agreed. It just doesn't match the body, it looks more like a toddler face. It's cute, but not what I can imagine as a kid for one of my girls. But still, I think it's great that he released a kid doll in proportion with the women, and that he takes the customer's whishes to heart. One of the reasons I like the company so much.

Thank you for this! I was curious if any chance you had a withdoll head to compare with raccoondoll heads, if they can look natural together.

 

In my opinion, no - there's a big difference between a 5-6 and a 6-7 head, I don't think it looks very good. I mean, I have seen people get around head size differences by taking photos with one doll further from the camera and so on, but it's up to you. I do think it's best to stick to the 5-6 or even 4-5 heads if possible.

If the smaller headed doll wears a flouffy wig the difference in head size is perceived by the eye as nothing or very close to that. I have a Soom ID51 (5/6 wig) with an SD Vito (7/8 wig; smaller end of this size as he's 7" circumference) and because the smaller headed doll wears a wig with a LOT of volume, there's no easily discernable difference in their head sizes since the wig tricks the eye.

I have my RD boy paired with an SD Vito boy and they both have normal volume wigs. You could maybe say Belial's (SD Vito) has a touch more volume as he's got curly hair (only at the ends though) where Kai-Wen (RD) has poker straight hair. I wouldn't say that the difference in their head sizes is glaring/jarring or immediately obvious but I'm also biased in thinking they look perfect together.

Oh they do look great together!!! I think the maturity of the sculpt helps as well - to me, Withdoll still has that slightly exaggerated big eyed features, not as much as most MSD, but still more than Raccoondolls, although it probably depends on the sculpt. Whereas I feel like your Vito looks more in the right scale! Could just be me though! But I think he looks great with your boy!

 

@morganatron Thanks. The 50-ish cm boys are my current favourite and I have a fair number of them from multiple companies.

The overall styling of the sculpt will play into how they look next to each other and what sort of face-up they have. Sometimes what sounds good on paper is not so good in real life, too. A friend got a Dollshe 45cm boy and despite that sculpt being mature, when put next to my Iple FID it was very much a no as far as those sizes looking good together as a couple. The proportions were not jiving at all.

 

Yes, you're so right about that - and it can be so hard to tell just from the company pictures! Which is very disappointing when you buy a doll and it doesn't work at all. Ooh, I'd love to see a comparison pic of your dolls together if you've ever taken some??? It's so great when you can see the actual dolls next to each other - and who knows, maybe there's some companies I've missed!

 

@morganatron I have a bunch of pictures of some of my 50-ish boys on my Flickr (too many to post in 1 post here). There's a group shot from several years back (2016 I think?) that shows the bulk of my 50's but not all of them as my current collection stands (I own 78 dolls from 42 companies right now). Miscl Stuff (I hope that link to the album works). There's several shots in that album with my RD boy and dolls from other companies.

I have 19 dolls between the sizes of 49.5cm to 58cm from the following companies: Soom, Raccoon Doll, Iplehouse, ImplDoll, Granado, Soul Doll, Dream Valley, Batchix, Doll Chateau, Doll Family A and Angel of Dream/LE Doll.

I didn't start out to collect all the weird, little known/seen dolls but here I am . A fair number of the dolls I have (in general) are limited in some way (number made or time available), discontinued or the company has long since closed. If there's a specific pair you'd like to see, just ask and I might be able to accommodate you. Be advised that I don't collect female dolls so I can't help with that aspect.

I do love the Soom ID51 dolls, would love to get one of them, but they're released so seldom, and I never seem to have the money when they do! Maybe some day... But thank you so much for the links, all those photos are such a useful resource!!! I never thought the Souldoll Vito dolls would match with this size, now those releases are something I need to keep an eye on too - the wishlist grows!!!

 

@morganatron I have a list of 50-ish boys and while the bulk of the list are dolls that are limited/discontinued, there are some that are regularly available. It's not a huge list though as it is a more rare size for boys specifically. There are some on the list that I'd like to get my grabby hands on but it comes down to available funds, if the sculpt is a character of mine and if the doll is available.

I've been extremely fortunate in having many dolls just fall into my lap. I have 4 Soom ID51 and only 1 of them was bought directly from Soom. My Raccoon, Batchix, Doll Chateau and one of my Soul Doll boys were pre-loved finds, too. I had purchased a Dollshe 55cm at the first pre-order waaaay back in spring of 2018 but after nearly 16 months and constant flimsy excuses for why the doll was still not done, I cancelled the order and got a refund. To the best of my knowledge that doll has never been produced and in my opinion I don't think it's likely it'll ever see production at this point but I've left it on the list because Dollshe still has orders outstanding for it and it's still listed on the website.

This is the list I've compiled for 50-ish boys. I do dip down to 48cm (which I suppose is technically MSD) and up as high as 58cm (which is still an unusually short size for boys). If there's nothing listed after the size, the doll is a standard, any time available doll. I can't comment on some of the dolls and their suitability with other dolls of this size range as I don't own all the dolls on this list (I have 12 from this list).

Oh wow, thank you so much for the super helpful comprehensive list!!! I had no idea there was so many in this size! Yeah, I also like the look of Dollshe but would never, ever order from them given their reputation of dolls just never showing up. As for me, I have Raccoondoll girls, FID boys and girls, one SartoriaJ girl and I'd like to get a SartoriaJ boy and another girl with a different bust size. And one or two hybrids! (Raccoondoll heads with either JID body or a boy Dollzone body). And if I had the money I'd buy a whole lot more!

 

@morganatron Glad the list is helpful. They are still a more difficult male size to find but I'm happy that more companies are coming out with the size. I was extremely tempted by SartoriaJ when they did the fog grey resin (I'm pitifully weak against grey resin) recently but somehow remained strong.

I forgot to mention about the Dollmore Adam size. Dollmore lists him as being taller (60cm) but I'd asked a DoA member who owns several of the various Klara Klum sculpts (he's their favourite and they own like 5 of them) and they measured him out at 57.5cm for each of them and they had been purchased in different years so it was a consistent thing for the Adam size. This was several years ago though and Dollmore may have updated the sculpt between then and now so I'd suggest confirming with someone who has a more recent doll if an Adam size was of interest.

There are a few others I haven't added to the list mostly because I forgot. They're from single artist companies and some of them haven't offered up the dolls yet as they're still working the bugs out of the design or are looking for reputable/affordable casting places for their creations (I follow several artist on Instagram that are in this position).

 

I'll probably be sticking to the smaller end of the scale, to fit in with the FID and Raccoondoll ladies so probably the Adam is a bit big for me. And yeah, it's hard for the smaller artist creations - some of them are amazing, but it's a bit nerve-wracking with the unknown quality of if they'll actually turn up or not! Plus they tend to be pricier, understandably for small runs. By the way - Rugged Realism released some amazing boys in that size, I really wish I could have got one! But I don't know if there will be any future orders. But that's one to add to your list if you want!

 

One of my friends got a Rugged Realism boy. I think the artist has some health issues that've made it difficult for them to continue sculpting but I might've also heard that wrong.

 

Yes, that's correct unfortunately. I really hope she gets better soon! It sounds awful what she's going through.

I'm really really wanting a doll on the new natural pose body, it looks really good. I was having trouble deciding on which head, and was mulling it over, when I saw Younan's YouTube video box opening of Diane. Honestly, I had completely overlooked Diane. On the site, she doesn't stand out from the other girls much. But OMG in his video she looks so good! She looks like a much younger girl, maybe still a teen, with her large eyes and soft face. I might need her.

Does anyone have a Diane? I can't seem to find any other owner photos of her...

Natural Pose Glamour body vs slim are now posted, as well as the new dolls Hina and Cara.

I really like Hina, her face is so beautiful to me. Cara looks very similar to Cindy. It might just be the makeup, but I think the only difference is the lips?

Argh but now I can't decide between Diane and Hina. They are both very different - Hina looks like a beautiful woman, while Diane strikes me as a playful young girl. I guess I need to decide which type of doll my collection needs.....

 

I also thought that Cara looks like a sister to Cindy. I love Hina and would love a more asian looking addition to my Raccoon dolls and I also love Cindy ...would love to just get them both! haha

The 33cm girls are up!!! They do look nice!!! I did ask on Instagram for a picture of them next to the big girls and they said they would, but nothing there yet. Also I can't work out from the wording if it's the same as the "girlish" body just with a smaller neck? No body pictures and I would like to see! Er, and I suppose technically we should be discussing them in the Tinies section?!

 

@morganatron There is a picture next to a woman doll, the last pictures of Juliet's promo pictures. It appears to be the girlish body. Juliet's head was the first, it looks a bit odd, but I love Ada and Jenny.

ETA: I just went ahead an ordered Jenny. I think it's really great that Raccoon released this size, I asked a while ago if he would create a kid in scale with the woman and he did. I will post pictures when I get her of course. The woman in the promo pics wears high heels and I think she is on the new slim, which is a bit taller than the old body. But I think the girls will make great 8-13 year olds next to the woman. I think the girlish body might work for boys as well, they don't really have noticeable bust.

 

Ohhhh I'm dumb, I didn't realise it was the same as the Juliet body, I thought it was a whole new size?! Okay! That's good to know, and it is exciting as it does look to be a good size! I hope they post pics of the new girls (or one of them) with one of the adults anyway, as the heads look sort of different proportions maybe? Anyway, I'd like to see!

Ooooh that's so exciting you've ordered her, I can't wait to see owner pics!!! I can't decide which girl I like best and whether to order one or not? I really would like to, but there's only so much money available for a long doll wishlist! I've been wanting in scale kids for so long though...

EDIT: just went looking for a thread on Raccoondoll in the Tinies section and there doesn't seem to be one! Should we start one? Also I'm still obsessively looking them up and it looks like they're very similar in size to the Iplehouse KID dolls, so that's a clothing resource potentially. Different size feet though. I think Raccoondoll have continued their tradition of making feet it's impossible to find shoes for.

@morganatron I saw your question on the Raccoon Q&A and added a request for a nude body comparison side by side. I am really excited about these girls. I was undecided between Ada and Jenny as well, but Jenny has such a cute little smile that I chose her. I think some regular 1/6 shoes will fit. My old-body women can wear some of the 1/6 shoes I bought for the kid dolls, like canvas sneakers and some Mary Janes, so they should fit the girls as well.

But you are right, we should continue discussing these girls in the tiny section. (Just started the thread, I hope the link works)

Help! I went to the website to look at clothes. I have Yumi in the slim natural body. But the clothing categories are very confusing for someone who only has one body. Is new slim the same as my natural body?

 

@Mahgiep New slim and naturally posing body are not the same. The new-slim body hands are very wide, and don't fit through old body sleeves when they are tight. But with the really tight clothes you can chose the body type you want it for.

So do you know which clothes fit the naturally posing body? I only have the red top (short) and blue jeans. The descriptions say “both bodies,” “all bodies,” slim, slim2, glamorous, but no mention of my body. I guess the only clothes that fit are ones for all bodies.

I have been using FID clothes but some don’t fit so I thought I’d go to RD for clothes made for her.

Also my 5-6” wigs are too big for Yumi’s head. How are the RD wigs on these dolls?

Ha, and I was just looking at your blogpost about those Mary Jane shoes and trying to find them online, with no luck sadly. Well, I found the gold and silver ones but I wanted the plain colours! Maybe one day they will pop up again. I suppose they might be on Aliexpress somewhere but I find it so hard to find specific things on there!

 

@Mahgiep He probably just forgot to add the body type to the choices. But you can always ask in the Q&A, sometimes it takes a while before you get an answer, but you will get one.

I have a question for those who have the newer female Raccoondoll bodies, with the larger feet - have you found it easier to get shoes for them? Do they fit into any standard size, readily available shoes? I've had no luck at all finding shoes for the original doll bodies (although I am waiting on some Luts Honey Delf ones to try), and I keep wondering if I should just buy some new feet for my girls, since they are available separately. But if they still are hard to find shoes for, then I won't! Anyone have any insight?

 

My girl in the new body can wear most of my FID shoes.

 

Oh that's good to know! I don't have any FID shoes in particular, but my FID girl is wearing shoes intended for Minifee or slim minis I think - so I suppose it would be similar?

 

The new feets fit into the shoes I have bought for my Minifees, both flat and high heel feets. I have bought some of them at hemeife on Ebay, 17" Matt doll for flat feets and Minifee shoes for high heels.

As for flat shoes: They fit into all the slim mini shoes. Like these or these for example.

My Cindy arrived today . I ordered her on the Naturally Posed glamorous body, and the body is just as the slim version such a joy to pose. She takes and holds poses so effortlessly and easily! Really naturally looking, the name is well chosen. I have a body comparison and review post in the making, it will just take a bit more time...

 

@ResinRapture - Wow, that is some posing! What I see of the new body I really like! Congratulations!

 

@luluna I am very glad I went for the new bodies with the last two girls. The NaPoSlim as well as the NaPoGlam are far better posers than the older versions- and the Fid.

@Seed-Singer Thank you It is fun to pose, and while I took the pictures I even discovered some posing abilities of the older bodies I wasn't aware of. By the way, I just added the tutorial for the outfits, in case anyone wants to try.

 

Quick update: the Luts Honey Delf shoes don't fit the girls original feet - they're too small. Still holding out hope they'll fit the 33cm girl's feet instead. So I'm going to go ahead and order the new feet for my older dolls. I'm determined for them finally to have shoes!!!
