Wait Times Question about refund for something that was not shipped

    1. Okay, soooooo, let's see if I can explain this.

      So, I made an order to a dealer a long time ago. Something came up with the manufacturer potentially delaying my order. Then, announcements of the US tariffs had me ask the dealer about my concerns. Eventually they claimed that they got my item, but they never shipped it. (The manufacturer keeps having delays, too.) I've asked and asked, it never gets shipped. So, now I'm worried about buyer protections. How long after the first payment or how long after they claimed "We have your item", do I have before taking this up with my bank?
      BTW, I am not blaming either for world changes that made this situation happen. (Yes, I am going to attempt asking them again to ship it. But, this is at the point where I might need to start tracking a timeline.)

      This isn't the only thing, but this is where I'm starting.
       
    2. PayPal protection window is 180 days/6 months, and you can open a claim in this timeframe if there are problems with your purchase. Sometimes this gets things moving. If you're out of this period, you can try to take it up with your bank but whether or not you have any kind of buyer protection through them also really depends on the bank and is not a given.

      If the dealer keeps repeatedly saying they have your item and will not ship it for months, it's definitely claim territory, especially if regularly checking in with them doesn't work (if the item has arrived and not shipping after a week or two, I would check in with them at least weekly).

      It is outside the PayPal window and that's why I might have to take it up with my bank. This is irony compared to one of my other orders.

    5. Update:
      Update about involving "that other dealer", which I did not get into, is that I got the doll. That has been resolved.

      The update with this particular dealer is that I'm not getting my money back on one of my items and I have a feeling that they might be going out of business, as well.
      So, I think there's nothing else I can do about this, besides wait.
