So I have a Angel of Dream doll that i purchased second hand from ebay, according to the COA that i received its was made in 2012 and dose not have the AOD plaque behind the head, My question is when did AOD start putting the plaque and the website behind the head for authenticity?
What mold did you buy? That might also help in verifying it's authenticity. I'm not too familliar with AoD, but I'm sure that if it's an older mold, in general, they may not come with a plaque, even if their newer dolls do. Also, not all dolls have been recast, if you're worried about that, so knowing the mold might help us figure out if it's likely legit, even without a plaque on it's head. Is there an ID number on the CoA you may be able to contact AoD about to verify?
its a chen head mold, im probably just being paranoid because im still new to this, the seller i got it from is Ange de Nuit BJDs and they were on the dealer list so it probably good
I used to own a second hand AOD doll as well and if i remember correctly she was made in 2012, called Fei. She does not come with a head plate and im quite certain aod dolls are not recasted
I have a Chen from 2007, he was my first doll, and he does not have a plaque or stamp on his head at all. I know he is legit, as I bought him brand new from a legit dealer, and I have his box and CoA. There have been at least three different versions of Chen as they regularly update their sculpts. I would guess being made in 2012, yours is probably the second one. I also had the second one at one time, and I'm pretty sure he didn't have a headplate or sticker or anything either. The first one has a headcap that is held on by hooking to the neck s-hook, the second one is magnetic. Look inside your Chen's head, he probably has a tiny little feather sculpted into the inside. It can be very hard to see, but I think it was present in the second Chen.
ah ok ill take a look edit: well i looked in his head did not see a feather but on the lower part of the back of the head on the out side there is a bump that looks like they didn't sand off, but when i look at it more closely it dose look like a feather thanks again for the tip it puts me at ease
That sounds pretty accurate. I think I had my first Chen for probably close to 8 years before I found his feather! I'm pretty sure they're not all in the same spot either, buying an AoD and looking for the feather has become like a game to me!
I'm glad I could find something on Fei from 2012. I bought fei from a dealer on ebay that said they were authorized and I've just been worried I could have been fooled because she came with CoA but I miss placed it and I didn't know anything about BJD in 2013. I bought her 'cause I was was depressed, but I've never regretted it. I'm just happy I know she's the real thing. I couldn't find any pics of what AOD CoA's looked like to confirm.
