Puki are so much fun. I really enjoy my pocket riding little friend. And now that it's summer and I finally have time this project will finally get finished!
I see you haven't worked on it for a while. Though i did the same with *cough* all of my stuff. But it looks great and cute so far. I hope one day to see it finished.
I just moved into my apartment and this is still at my folks house which is why progress is non-existent since my last post. Once everything is in it's proper place it will happen. I picked out cute wall paper to go inside and I'm still debating about potentially using real wood for the flooring.
aaaahhh, Oh my goodness! This is the cutest idea ever! I can't wait to see it finished! It seems like a long project with many steps but I'm sure it will be so worth if for you in the end! Good luck at finishing!
I am currently trying to decide which side of the paper to use inside of my mushroom house. What do you lovely people think?
I like the more earthen toned paper. It seems to flow better with the idea of a mushroom house. And although I love that flower paper, if it were me I'd get sick of seeing it after a few days, haha.
Well I was going to use that for the flooring as they didn't have enough to do the walls with it. I was more wavering between dark pink or light pink.
Light pink, definitely! What it needs is a little strip done in a green vine pattern across the top and bottom of the 'wall' like they do with big people wallpaper. This looks like such a fun project! Furnishing it is going to be just as much fun as building it!
They're both cute but I think the light pink would work best. I think something that not too bright and busy will be easier to decorate around. I love the natural for the flooring! It's going to be so, so cute!
I'm starting to think I might need to go to a different craft store and see if I can't find a different paper. I just propped it up in the house and it's not looking so good in a small space... :/
Jainatina: try this site. It's for 1:12 scale dollhouses, but you can either scale it up a smidge or use it as is. 1/2 way down the page is wallpaper, flooring, etc, but they've just got a bucket load of fun tiny stuff at this site! http://www.printmini.com/printables/pp.shtml
i like the light flowers best :3 though since your in decisive, at target i was able to get a massive book of colored papers from the scrapbooking section- try there? :3
Well: Now that you've gone through all the trouble of painting the outside, I think that the tan, marbled paper would look great on the OUTSIDE (It reminds me of aged stucco.) May I suggest: You don't have to use only one paper for the inside. Changing wall treatments is one way to define separate areas of a one-room environment without creating walls. For Example: You can use the pink on the section of wall near where you want to put the bed, and something else that looks like tile on a section where you were thinking about a kitchen-area...? And don't forget: if you're going to add the domed-roof, you'll have more room for rooms. I once saw someone who created a Puki Potty
Little things rule. I have an obsession with small things really. I freak with just the sight of my BJD. It's all very crafty and adorable of you to think this up. Hope you'll be super happy once you get it all done.
With the dome top roof, something I dont think anyone has mentioned is cardboard. Thin stuff, like from cereal boxes. Cut into 2" wide strips, glued into an "X" shape, or a "*" and secured under the paper mache. Should work the same as in a real house as brace. Also, if you put a whole wad of papermache tissue all over everything it should be pretty sturdy. Ive made masks and even after countless drops or accidental kicks they are still in one piece
Oh this is so cool! I've been in love with your doll from the first picture, so cute! You've made me want a Puki xD And a cute little house with it!
Oh wow. I almost forgot about this project. Ya know what folks, I just might have to finish this today or this week. All the pieces are here at my house finally and I have a michael's gift card ready to buy paint. If there isn't a post up here again in a week, someone find a sharp stick and poke me out of my cave. Anna Maria has the hugest pleading eyes I've ever seen to get her house done!
AK! I actually did do work on this project! I will upload pictures as soon as I locate my camera. Turns out paper mache can still rip after 3-4ish layers and my dome top ripped in half when I was trying to paint the first coat of white. So... that's gone. However! Walmart had a red salad bowl the exact same size as the lid of my mushroom house so not all is lost! None of my original starting house exists anymore which is rather amusing to me. So... Pictures soon.
Well, this sort of got shelved once college work got really intense. Now that I've graduated, I have time to play after work. Here's what I've got. I tried playing around with some fabrics I had for the background, but I'm not very skilled at the photo-taking. AnnaMaria and the house by jainatina, on Flickr Mushroom house by jainatina, on Flickr The door is craft foam cut and hot glued together. The door knob is a blue bead on either side. The curtains are just pieces of lace. Mushroom house top by jainatina, on Flickr The lid is a red salad bowl from Walmart. I cut white craft foam into circles and hot glued them on. Sometime in the future I might add a little chimney to the top if I'm feeling that way. Mushroom house lid by jainatina, on Flickr I painted the inside of the lid to look like the underside of a mushroom with the gills. I'm not sure I really like it, but it stays for now. Mushroom house parts by jainatina, on Flickr The inside of the house with the "magic" of making the curtains and door stay temporarily. It's just colored masking tape for now until I decide how I want the inside to look. The bowl also doesn't sit quite right by itself yet. I've got to play with making it stay some more. So what do you guys think?
I think its really cute. You have thought of everything! I love the dots on the outside and the ribs under the muchrooms cap. What a great idea.
I agree Dhawkyx that is a great site and I really like the house you are working on Jainatina, so much fun! So looking forward to seeing it finished.
Your little lady is going to be the talk of the town, she has such a cool house! It's coming along great!
