Prototype 002 - Embla

Feb 7, 2011

    1. Hi again, people!

Trying to multitask by sanding and priming Ask aaaand creating a new sculpt, Ask's sister Embla. We'll see how it goes, haha.

If you'd like to know why I chose the names Ask and Embla, go visit my blog real quick!

Anyway.. She doesn't look like much at the moment, but I'm pretty sure she'll look allright once I'm done with her. :) So far, her features are very rough and I've been working on getting the basic shapes of her head and face down and I'm pretty satisfied at the moment.
Once she's completely dried, I'm going to cut the headcap off, remove the core and start working on her eyes/brow/forehead. And after that, I will start with the nose. (I hate noses.)

    2. So, worked some on Emble today when i got too frustrated with Ask to continue, haha.

She's got an almost concerned or worried look on her face - I kinda like it. I might try to keep that intact. But, uh, we'll see how things go!

And, yes, of course I can see that the eyes are totally off and whatever, but I'm not working on total symmetry yet, I'm trying to give her... the basic shapes of a face. XD

    3. They're a great pair!! Love the origin of their names. Although Ask's features are quite soft, it's clear to see the difference between the male and female sculpt. I love the shaping of Embla's eyebrow ridge. :)

    4. Thank you, aneemal! :D I'm glad you think so. ^^ They're siblings in my version of the story, however, but still! And thank you, I'm really happy that you can tell the male and the female features apart!

    5. I love watching it go from rough to more finished. I hope you can keep her expression. It's great!

    6. Thanks, Alewife! I'll try my best to keep her current expression. :)

    7. Time for an update on this poor girl!

Sadly, I managed to mess her face up, so now she doesn't look anything like she did previously. XD; But oh well, she's still pretty okay. In my opinion, that is.

I am totally annoyed with screwing her face up, but whatever, I'll see what I can do to fix it. ^^

    8. I think its just the eyebrows have lost that sortof sad look to them. The nose is much too thin atm (not much in the way of nostrils). It'll be fine; just remember the effort you put into Ask and how good he's turning out.

    9. Thanks, Jphobia, of course I'll keep Ask in mind. :) I have no doubts Embla will end up looking just as good, or even better, since I've learned a LOT with creating Ask. :)
I'll keep working on her and we'll see where she ends up. ^^

    10. New update!

She's coming along nicely, eventhough I still haven't gotten back her old look - and I'm not so sure I want to, not anymore, cause she's starting to look kind of pretty anyway.

Also, I'm really excited since I ordered silicone and resin for Ask yesterday and it's already been sent out and everything! :D

    11. ....whoa. Hi there!

Nope, Embla is not forgotten, I just haven't worked enough on her to actually make a decent update. I have changed some minor parts of her though.

I ordered 8 packs of clay today, so hopefully, I'll be able to start working on her body in some time. :)

    12. She has a beautiful face. Interesting how she seems to change her expression with every update ^^ Now she looks a bit mistrustful or mischievous, instead of sad.

    13. Thank you! Hahaha, I know! I'm not sure what's up with that, haha!

    14. ....whooops. Seems like poor ol' Embla here has been waiting quite some time for an update, yes? Good thing I actually have something to say, then!

I recently started doing BJD sculpting workshops in my home town and during those workshops, I started working on Embla's body.

These photos are three weeks old though, and her body has been improved and cut up into three pieces since these were taken. :) I'll make sure to take some new pictures of her next week during the next workshop!

Now, back to working on Ask..... *runs off*

    15. I really like the curve of her back.

    16. Thanks, I'm glad you like it. :)
