    1. Some new dolls I've started.....

      Lft-Rt: The beginnings of a girl. I think she'll be called Maia, and should be around 55-57 cm tall. The guy on the right will probably be called Izar and will be replacing Ain eventually.

      Here's a picture I took after some of the initial work on the girl....she's change a little, I think, but at least she has some hair in this one :)

      If this one gets completed and cast he'll be Naos...although I might start from scratch.


      I was playing with some apoxie sculpt and a resin head today and this is what I have so far...

    4. Yeah, I pretty much sanded and cut down the face and then used the apoxie sculpt to start building it back up.

    7. Quill - The apoxie sculpt is weird. I liked it at first but I think it's a tad tough to work with. I have to let it sit for about 20 min. so it's not sticky and I do find it a bit tricky to smooth. It does sand good though. I've sort of gooped it on and then shaped and sanded it after it dries.

      Pheonix - Thanks! I'm still doing some work to him and I won't know about casting him until I can see if I can get a very smooth finish....:) I'll wait to see how he turns out!

    8. Ah, lovely boy... I particularly love the eyes. :aheartbea

      FYI, the new Apoxie "Fixit Sculpt" is much less "goopy," though it's also a bit more expensive.

      this is still in the very early stages (his head cap hasn't been removed, etc.) and I'll toy with the eyes more! He's bigger and will go with the new 64-65cm body I'm working on.

    12. Okay, here's the beginnin's of a body...VERY rough early stages...yes it might look weird but there is still a lot I'm going to do to it. I also changed that head a bit since the last post....hehe, maybe I should wait until I'm finished before I put up pictures.

      I think the new body looks really good so far! With a three-part torso, he'll be even more poseable then Ain. 0.o *drools*

    15. Yep I changed the eyes...and will probably do more as he goes on. Ain was vastly different when he was cast from when he was started! I even recast his head after changing the sculpt because I didn't like it.

      And little Naos there is sort of growing on me. At first i felt like it was cheating using a resin head but I did alter pretty much the entire face and then again I might just cast him for my own collection later on! He might look better too in skintone with a face up...on a body :lol: .

    16. Yay, I was right. I really like this boy's lips. They're nice and full and... sensuous. >///< Ack! I think I want him. He makes me think of a fan character doll I want to do. I'll never move on to company dolls if you keep bringing out new fabulous boys! Are there any girls planned for the future? ^.^

      Naos is a sweet little thing. He looks mopey, and his nose is adorable. Where do you come up with their names, btw? Just wondering, cause they're really unique.

    20. Wow, the newest one is really going to be amazing! If he looks that good in the rough I can't imagine how his polished self will turn out!

      I'd love to see more progess pictures, too, but if it is easy for you to work without having to stop to take pictures then by all means, wait until he's further along.

      But yea, his body is very nice. I like the slimness to it, and how he seems mature.... Maybe in his early or mid 20's? He's really nice.

      Some updates? Well, here's Naos, I think he needs a few more sandings...

      Right now I'm glopping clay on him here and there, then sand in the details. After that I'm going to do the jointing. I'm toying with the idea of double joints, but I really like the look of simple ball joints. Well I have a while to go before I get to that!

    26. Thank you! I needed that. :) Naos looks so different from he last time you posted update pics! I liked him before, but now I live him almost as much as Ain. Pheat (fay-et?) looks really good so far! My favorite part is that little dip in his lower lip. Sooo SEXY! >w<

      Double joints?! Sweet. I love double jointed arms, it makes them pose so very nice, but I think double in the legs just make them bend funny. It doesn't look right, even under pants. And your leg joints already work so well for balance and posing that I wouldn't mess with them. ;)

      I was feeling crappy cause the post was being a$$-wipes. I was supposed to get my little Luts girl in the mail today, so I was all ecited waiting for her to come, and then they didn't deliver her. It ruined my day. :(

    29. I hollowed out some space through his neck hole and used a beveler to make the eye area. The eyes are held in by that tissue paper in the picture :lol: (I use flat backed eyes).


      Some work photos (not me actually working...my hands get too messy to touch the camera without washing first)...

      First I drill tiny holes where I'm going to cut the headcap. I use an exacto saw blade which is really fine to cut through the perforations.

      Top off (hehe, see where I'd been picking out the inside).

      After I'd cleaned out the last of the styrofoam. After that I spread a thin layer of clay on the inside to make it smooth and uniform for mold making later.

    32. :lol: I see there might be a tiny bit of confusion developing here...at least I'm starting to confuse myself, which I happen to be good at. I have 2 different dolls in this thread because, well, I keep making more dolls and didn't want a bunch of threads all over the place....sorry...I was actually wondering if my threads should merge into one...I dunno.

      Anyway, the gray-primer-sad-eyes is Naos. He'll fit the 60cm body. The guy-still-in-white-clay (usually on that 3 part torso body) is Phaet.

      Well, I'm off to finish up Naos now, I have some silicone left over and I might cast him this weekend and see how he turns out. Hehe, more dollies for me!

Ahaha now i get it :sweat i used to think Phaet was Naos before being finished :doh i see why Naos didn't have the dip in his lower lip and why the title was "New heads" ^^ Now i can see the difference between them, i think Phaet is more serious and sexy and Naos looks innocent and sad.

    34. I'm loving Naos :D He looks very sweet tempered. I don't see him as sad so much as shy. Phaet is very cool too, but I have to say Naos is my favorite of the two :daisy

      I'm still fiddling with his eyes and brow now, but I'm getting pretty happy with his lips and nose at the moment.

      Edit: Started the mold for Naos this afternoon :)! Yippee, maybe he'll be done by New Year's day (I've got a body ready for him)!

    42. Gah! Sorry! If it makes you feel better, he has a very masculine jaw. You would have to sand it down for him to be truly feminine. He is most definitly a boy, I promise. :)

      The only reason I said it is cause I have a character for Ain when I have the money for him. And for the love of *insert diety of choice here* I cannot find a head mold that I like for his love interest! It's been bugging the B'Jeepers outta me!
      And Naos come close. :)

      I put an announcement in the news section and there is a thread in the marketplace with new photos of the boys and all the info!

      All the support has been really super-duper-great!!


      Also, I'm working on a dollie project right now ... some limited editions for a clothing company...can't say too much yet! I'm really excited and nervous too...putting my sculpting abilities to the test!

    51. Right now Phaet is looking like he will be around 65cm tall. I want to post some new pictures of him (he's changing a bit more :) ) but my laptop died (the one I use my camera on) so I have to borrow my husband's stuff which is pretty much too complicated for me to work out :sweat . I was going to go with double jointing but I really love the smooth look of more simple ball joints. I'm also going to try a twist on head cap this time.

I've been kicking around this idea for the new taller boys (yes there will probably be several heads too)...I really like the simple joints, I think they look pretty, but I also like the great posability of double joints. So I was thinking of making two sets of limbs, one of each type of joint. And some other different parts that all fit together...sort of like a mix and match doll :) ! Just seems like it would be fun!
