My inspiration was a collaboration of steampunk, french ballet, and Cassandra Clare's The Clockwork Angel. :sweat . I used two sizes of round white doilies, hand painted the main layer of the platter tutu, the second layer is brushed gold. Her bodice is taped and tied on with ribbon. Her ballet shoes are made from several cuts of doilies, glued and taped together, tied up her legs with sheer ribbon. There is 4 layers to her tutu, the two underside layers are taped and glued to a short edged circle that is attatched to the bodice. Her little wings are cuts of doilies hot glued to a butterfly jewelry charm. She has a gold chain that is one long piece layered and draped around her arms, dress and used for aesthetics. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this challenge. It was a lot of fun to do and I have a new terribly adorable outfit i don't want to take off my little Sophie. :D

    8. I need to find a measuring tape...;3; the one from my sewing room went AWOL. I have to hit the garage and the hubby's toolbox.

Nope, she's a steady 10 inches or so tall, I was afraid to get too close with the hubby's yucky measuring tape. My entry form has been edited. Thank you for catching me on it, I was worried because my little Sophie definately doesn't look super tiny. I think I'm just thrown off a bit because she's my tiniest baby. Sorry bout' that. :sweat

I thought this would be a good opportunity to try something crafty for my poor clothesless dragon girl. The armor was made with doilies stiffened with white glue and attached with silver scrapbooking brads. The chestplate closes with a ribbon. The gauntlets (the accessories for this challenge) are laced with thread.

So this is an interpretation of a French court gown. The corset is laced with ribbon through scrapbooking eyelets, the skirt is separate and fastens with a hidden velcro closure, both are fully removable. Her necklace and earrings stick on with poster tack, and she carries a doily fan. (Shoes not by me.) The gown and the jewellery are made in two layers, a bottom white layer strengthened with scotch tape, and a top layer of decorated pieces hot-glued on. The decoration is done with Staedtler Fineline and Gelly Roll pens, scrapbooking mini pearl stickers and rhinestones.

    21. I've got my idea and I've been working a bit with the doiles. I'm just thankful I bought a couple packs ( I keep messing up and burning my hands with the hot glue) :sweat

Here's my idea so far, I'm planning on using whites and golds and maybe reds. I wasn't able to find different colored doiles so I've been hand painting them. I'm really hoping I can work out the little kinks that are coming up with the design.

    24. I've had my doilies sitting here next to me forever, but I still haven't gotten started on my outfit *gulp* I've kind of gotten sidetracked with some of the DoA contests this month. I have a general idea what I'm doing, but I have to work out the specifics and get in gear. Hopefully I can get some work done over the next few days.

    29. Okay, here's a couple of shots of my progress so far.
Basically I started with the idea of a French court gown style - stiff and frilly, good match for doilies!

      Here's the doilies I found:

To get the bodice nicely fitted I wanted to work with small pieces, so I cut out some of the basic shapes from the largest-sized doily to test how I might decorate them:

After test-fitting the pieces together on the doll I came up with my "patterns" and a concept sketch:

And here's the materials I'm using to decorate the doilies. The bottom layer will be held together (and pretty much laminated with) the clear tape, and then a second layer will be applied over top, decorated with the pens and pearl stickers. The colour scheme is silver, gold and yellowy-green. I'm aiming to keep it light and frothy-looking, but not too dominated by the base white colour:
