Thank God for YouTube. Had some tea, binge watched some Netflix and watched how to videos last night. Woke up today and successfully edited the photos. I was beyond pissed last night.

I used his sleeping face; I thought it was more appropriate for the theme.





First let me say I hate hot weather; I cannot tolerate high temperatures so the thought of slow-cooking under the sun for way too many hours is not my idea of how to spend my time.

***If the following definition of beach disqualifies me then so be it.***

When we - as a family - vacationed we headed north into the forested areas that were on or near the shoreline of a nice large lake, so that is the definition of beach I am using. Lakes do have very nice beaches - I've seen and been on them!

We have several new koi in our pond and they are of a small size. Due to the fact that the herons are trying to eat said koi [we already lost one] we have covered the pond with a net to keep them away until the fish are larger. Thus I am unable to use the pond as I wished - sorry guys, no boat.


OUTFIT
Now that I've explained my definition of beach let me detail the outfit; it includes one shirt, one sleeveless T-shirt, one pair of cargo shorts, one fishing hat, and one pair of sandals.
DETAILS
Hat:
My first attempt at a porkpie hat and it came out well. I feel the crown needs to be a bit flatter but it looks good as is. If you've ever seen a real fisherman's hat like that they are normally a rumpled mess and usually kept rolled up either in a pocket or stuffed in a tackle box.
Sandals:
When you have a [small] boat you need shoes to protect your feet from the unseen lake bed while you drag the boat in to dock. Even a cheap pair of flip-flops will do so I decided to make them a bit fancier.








ACCESSORIES
To me accessories are an important part of bringing together an outfit. The accessories are one fishing pole, several fishing lures, and one fishing creel - complete with fish! I hope he remembers not to eat the green one; they're not ripe yet!
DETAILS
Fishing pole:
The reel on the fishing rod was made from a wooden bead from a tacky bracelet, an old bobbin, and a clip earring back. The wooden beads also make great jump rope handles.
Fishing lures:
Made from bits of feathers and pierced earring backs.
Creel:
Created from freehand crochet - it even shaped correctly. It has a real shell button and an adjustable leather strap.



It is rather difficult to remove the net from the pond so with the glamour shot in mind visualize this:

He is in a boat in the middle of the lake, the temperature is in the low 80s [~27°C] with a nice cool breeze and the sky is filled with fluffy white clouds, keeping the bright sun to a minimum. In the background you can see his tent on the beach. A fire ring off to the side has a stack of firewood nearby and a cast iron frying pan. A bucket of sand used to put out the fire is next to a large log dragged over to use as a seat. He's dreaming of the fish dinner he will have tonight.

 

Count us in. Mookie has never been to the beach.

I decided to sit this challenge out. I have a lot on my plate for July so I will be watching instead of participating. Good luck to everyone! I cannot wait to see the outfits for this one!

I decided to go with a swimming suit and coverupfor Blossom though she wasn't able to make it to the beach do to weather we were able to get to the docks at least to take a few photos. Along with the ruffled bikini and coverup I also created matching flip flops, a headband and no beach ensemble can be complete without a towel and beach tote. And because you just can't go to the beach alone her furry little companion Douglas needed a matching collar. NOTE: Stuffed dog and bowl are props only I didn't create those 2 items just the matching color.

Summer is the best opportunity to go with friends to play some football on the beach. When you are tired, you can lay and relax, or swim to get some coolness.

quick question if we're just using props for the glamour shot do we need to include that in the $25? ie like you were saying headphone/cellphones or such..though mine would be more of beach items..like maybe a beach chair, etc.

Slowly.....very slowly, but I'll make it in time This Island has tons of beaches but with a 98% chance of not being able to get there it will be once again planning my photo shoot at home! Don't know what until it's time to get it done.

I am going to with draw. I have lost an Uncle and am having a hard time completing everything. I never seem to finish the challenge.

OK, I guess I will start the extension list already. Surprisingly, I have been working on the outfit but have had to scrap one shirt and one pair of shorts already. So far all Mookie has is a sun hat which would be fine for a clothing optional beach but an outfit is the whole point of project runway.

 

Jumped back on the sewing horse last night making significant progress. I may need an extension to have time for photos. Will let you know formally though.
I don't have a Clearer idea of what I'm making so I'm focusing on all the little bits and letting it come together as it happens.

 

Could you please add me to the extension list too.

My tablet just crashed while cropping photos and I'm having the hardest time getting the correct size. Any suggestions? I have tried gimp and paint. I'm just not used to doing photo editing on any of the new versions of programs.... I used to be the paint master. Ugh. Unless I can figure this out I'll be withdrawing. I am beyond furious right now. My outfit rocks and my photos are the best I've ever taken but I can't make them fit the size requirements. Will attempt again tomorrow. Furious.

Angel Kat - maybe you can quickly make a photobucket account and upload them there. It only takes a few minutes to set it up and it is free. I use photobucket and it is very simple to resize the pictures.

 

You can resize photos in photo bucket? That's what I use for photo sharing..... Dang. Must not be able to use those features on a phone. Thanks for the tip, I will look into it.
