Problems with ravynscry (formerly titled "Prop Swap Closed and totals final!!!")

Houses are not selling well at the moment here, it could take a while.

I havent been on coz we've got a bit of a crisis at home (sob!) Ravynscry if you are still in the UK Pm me, mebbe we can meet up or something, might take both our minds off things

its only five boxes that were mailed, not the whole lot, So we won't all be getting them. Ravynscry is in the UK sorting out what can only be a death in the family so I think we need to still be patient.

As much as I would like to continue to be patient Im wondering if I should just write this one off. No bad feelings. I had a really good time making my swap project and chatting with all of you. Im going to a doll convention in San Francisco this weekend. When I get back I will be available to make and send a treat to all my msd group ( you know who you are ) if you want one. I don't want to be pushy about this but, it cost me quite a bit to buy 9 of the same item, and pay for postage...

I'm not doubting Raven but I am wondering what's the story and how things are going. Surely someone from DOA is a real life friend of hers?

 

I'm agree with you blackpaperbag. It took me 4 days of free time to make the things that I sent. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of time, but for me it was. This is the second swap that I have participated in and both have gone badly.

I'm wondering if Raven knows someone who can go to her house and get all the packages mailed out. I'm sorry if I'm sounding annoyed.... I feel really badly for Raven and I'm sure this will all work out soon... I guess I just needed to vent.

 

Same here, I don't mean to sound rude, but I worked hard on the items I made, and I really want other people to be able to enjoy them.

 

Hopefully someone who knows her can give us some sort of information, since she hasn't been on for quite a long time... even news on whether she's still overseas, or has come back but is still busy, would be helpful.

 

I didn't make my items, they were purchased (as I didn't have time to make what I wanted to.) But I purchased little Japanese books at the Volks store... and sent them all from Japan.
I can understand situations in life, but even so, I expect more communication than this, and as I am about to move now, my address is going to change too. I'm a little worried, as even if the items are sent to me, they will come to Japan... to a new british dude who has no clue about dolls. :P (while I never see anything.)

Yeah, everyone in this thread has been very patient, and there are a lot of us~ I'm sure we don't mind her taking longer, we just expect updates in the very least.

 

I opened a "paging thread" in the feedback forum. Hopefully Ravynscry will respond.

Didn't we all give her money to ship our stuff too? So at the very least if items are never sent out should we be getting refunds?

 

I would love a refund if she isn't going to send us our items. Optimally I would just like to have the swaps mailed out to all of us. I've participated in two swaps so far, and both have been a bust. It's disappointing. I'm hoping for some sort of communication. Just an update would be nice!!!

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about that part. In total, there were 30 participants, which x $5 would be $150 bucks.

And that's not including the cost of 300 items.

I think this is rather a bigger deal than we realised, when it's added up.

 

Plus, it cost me $9.05 to mail my 20 items in 2 boxes to Ravenscry, since I foolishly (greedily?) signed up for two SD groups. So I am out the cost of 20 items plus $9.05 in postage to her + $10 paid for mailing two boxes to me. I didn't keep the receipts and it's been so long now I don't remember exactly, but I know I paid at least $50 for the 20 items, so I am out at least $69.05 total, and I think we are entitled to an explanation.

 

I made my items from things I already had in house. But, I did spend a lot of time making the items..... I forgot about the $4.00 that it cost me to ship them to her.... Arg!!!

Nope, sent her two PMs and I know a couple of other people have too, but nothing. She was online today, too. She didn't post at all though...

 

Hmmm....so....this chick has been online, has not been responding to PMs, and has $150 of everyone's money plus 300 swap items that she could be doing anything with?

I'd suggest asking the Mods for help, at this point. Maybe if one of them sent her a PM asking what's up, she'd be more likely to respond.

 

I'd like to say that I'm not too upset... but if she's been online (and I sent her a pm too...) I think this is becoming a big deal. If the next time she's online she sends out a shout, I think I'll be quick to forgive, as she had some pretty big stuff to deal with... but the sudden stop in communication, keeping all items and money of 30 people... well, that's a lot.
I sent my items EMS from Japan so they would get there "in time." (and because I had had issues with the PO before- which consequently means I do still have a record of sending my items to her, if I can find it.) So, I spent $15 sending my items. She said still $5 for shipping from me too, even to Japan, but I thought that wouldn't do it, so I put in an extra dollar to be safe, and spent about $35-40 on prop items. So all together this cost me about $60.
I really hope she responds to us soon...

I'm still happy to wait patiently here... no problems.

But a request, if at all possible, could there be updates maybe one every couple of weeks? Just a "still here, still remembering. please keep waiting" or something? I can wait patiently, but every time it goes into 'sit and wait' mode, I get less and less optimistic.
And I never got a response to my pm about the address change. so I'm still nervous about that. I move in a couple of weeks...

The idea for a central swap seemed like a good one; nobody would lose out because of a reneging swap partner.

Well, at least this swap was the same for everyone - the person at Swap Central took everyone's swaps and shipping money and NOBODY GOT NOTHIN' - except empty promises!

Ouch - lesson learned!

 

I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but it sure isn't easy. It's been what, 7 months since she started this swap???

She hasn't logged in since the last post she made on 26June though...

As a person that also runs this type of swap (without glitches and on time), I think this behavior is unacceptable. The least she could have done was returned everyone's items.

So basically she has 150.00 of people's money and at least 1500.00 worth of items? (30 ppl times 10 items each times 5$ per item)

I get real tired of people that flake out, they make it harder on the rest of us to do fun things like swaps. I hope she gets her stuff together and holds up her end.

I'm kinda ditto-ing that. I've been patient, and with communication, I'll put up with almost anything, but I've given up hope. While I myself have not lost THAT much... (financially lost about $60 total) I've lost enough to be a little annoyed. when multiplied by number of people, yeah, it's pretty bad.
I'm hoping the mods are watching this one, and if/when she signs in again, she is either forced to respond and fix this, or is not allowed to do this again at the very least.
if/when ravynscry sees this, she owes a few explanations. Not meant to be mean, 'cause life happens... but that kind of financial committment ($1,500 worth) is no small thing.

 

If anyone has her address I can try to trace a phone number. Its possible you could get a hold of a relative that way if you can't get a hold of her.

BTW, I can't approach a mod about this since I'm not involved, someone in the transaction will need to.

Unfortunately, Ravynscry (cleverly?) had us send everything to her work address, and has since posted that she lost her job.

 

Honestly, I don't care if I sound mean. This is absolutely sickening, and at this point there is no excuse, save for explosive leprosy or ebola. I have no more hope of ever getting the items I worked so hard to make back, but I really hope the mods take care of her. I'm so tired of being messed with. This sucks.

 

The mods don't get involved in Marketplace transactions directly, but I'm hoping they have some advice or recommendations that may help us. Perhaps we should file a police report, but I would prefer to see what advice the mods can give us first.
